Holiday Smoked Prime Rib Roast in the Pellet Smoker

  • This 5.5 pound boneless prime rib roast gets a generous coating of homemade coffee rub and sits out at room temperature for two hours before it goes into the smoker.
    Preheat your smoker to 250 degrees F and then cook the prime rib roast until it reaches an internal temperature of 115 degrees F.
    Then you let the prime rib roast rest on the counter for a minimum of 30 minutes before you slice into it.
    Serve it next to some loaded mashed potatoes and your favorite vegetables.

      @@ajithmathew50 Absolutely! I used to make this in the oven before I had a smoker. If you have a convection setting it will come out almost exactly the same. If you dont have a convection oven, cook it like this: th-cam.com/video/DzD1bZz_YNc/w-d-xo.html

    I’m smoking a brisket on my pitboss vertical smoker ,just wondering if my cap up top should be more open or more closed ,the reason I’m asking is the temp on my brisket has been stuck at 143 for bout 2 hours

      I like to keep my cap at about half way open. If it’s cold outside you can close it down a little bit. Or you can just turn the heat up to push you through that stall. Or you can just let it do it’s thing if you aren’t in a hurry. It will get done eventually 😁

    Love your videos! I am glad you always include the temperature in both Farenheit and Celsius. Any chance you could also make your recipies more inclusive? Both in cups/gallons/pounds as well as in metric? Would make recreating your good ideas even easier!

It is just a pain in the butt to get all the ingredients over here across the pond and it adds even more to it to have to translate all the measurements into grams, you'd basically do Europeans like me a favor with this. Getting my own smoker next year and I'll basically work on your videos as a basic guide.

      I put a paper towel in the strainer and then pour the bacon grease through that.

      Loosely covered with foil so the crust doesn’t get too soft. You could probably skip the foil all together

      I wouldn’t recommend it with this rub. If you want, only apply the salt and let that sit overnight in the refrigerator. Apply the rest of the rub the next day.
