Because they try to do it as safely as possible. Using public vehicles as part of the detainment operation puts those vehicles and people at risk.
All that for a suspended sentence on something completely unrelated. The car got a worse sentence than that - 4 tyres gave their lives in vain.

1:38 wouldn't it have been a whole lot easier just to stop the traffic on that single lane at this point - then he's not going anywhere! Letting him get away and back up to dangerous speed seems a bit silly to me.

I like how they tried to slip in that the murder charge was dropped and he only got a suspended sentence (probably for the actions after he panicked because of the police in the first place) at the end there, like we wouldn't notice that they basically chased the wrong person.
Enthralling to watch, but an awful lot of public purse money for a suspended sentence.

Probably wrong person, and the person realised they were driving like crap, got scared and fled it. Or had marijuana or something. the other crimes would have been reckless driving, putting people in danger and more!
Police should be stopping mafia and murderers which they are too scared to do instead of stopping random people at 3am for checks and some minor marijuana offences
