Calums mind is beautiful. He never speaks in interviews and i always wonder why but the way he spoke here with ash blows my mind. He truly has a beautiful mind and he’s should speak it more.
that's why he has a beautiful mind. because he always observed on everything and he works with his mind. if he talks too much then maybe he got no time enough to process all of it.
He's just not a talker, and hey, some of the most insightful people aren't talkers. Calum is more of a listener and that's alright. The world needs both. Yeah, it would be really cool to hear Calum's ideas and thoughts in interviews more often, but it shouldn't be forced out of him. Calum speaks when he has something to say, and it's usually pretty insightful. He doesn't need to talk all the time. He has other band members that can answer the questions just fine. Ashton's really good at providing really good answers to questions for the band, and maybe Calum is fine with that and wants to let him do his thing. As long as Calum is doing what he wants and is fine with what is going on, I'm fine with him not talking if he doesn't want to.
@@infinitesprings I love your reply so much. Another thing I wanted to add is after watching this interview I think Calum probably prevents himself from speaking a lot is because he probably doesn't want his words to be warped which is common in this kind of work. He touched on that topic when he mentions why he isn't on social media as much.
Bubbles_as18 at the beginning. At least us who are going through it understand that you have good days and bad days when you struggle with depression. That’s why Ashton asks him about it in the first place.
I feel like 5SOS is so underrated, from being a band to people in general. They are so wise and they care so much about fans and they love creating music. They have helped so many people through so many thing. They have written songs about things that people are afraid to talk about to try to bring light to the subject. I know that they have helped me through some very hard times. So many people look up to them and they are just such amazing people whom have amazing hearts.
Their concern and love for the fans is so genuine and I think that why they've had such a strong pull on all of us. New and old. They're not afraid to just BE. Its like they state in this vid. They don't want to do anything that seem fake. And the fact thats they even decided to open up like this is proof that they are so different to most artist. It also may be the reason why we feel so protective over them or concerned when they looked tired or are too quiet. It's the same as caring for a friend. You just want them to be okay because you care about their wellbeing.
It’s kind of weird seeing Calum open and just talk. And the warmth between the two. And I also love how it started out as Ashton interviewing Calum but then it switched.
Akriti i know he doesnt talk often but as a generally quiet person when someone comments on when i do speak by saying something along the lines of “oh she said something,” or “she talks?!,” it makes me never want to speak again. No hate but sometimes people can take a sarcastic comment seriously and it can hurt.
I love how Ashton said that I don’t believe in Anti-depression and anti-anxiety medication cuz it would prevent me from being the true Ashton and hence, I do Yoga.
actually i'm glad he's since changed his opinion on this. more recently he's talked about how that mentality - the "toughen up and muscle through on your own" - was something he grew up around in australia and it took him 26 years to learn that it's actually okay to need help in the form of medication and/or therapy. he's been on this wild transformation in the past year, i think both getting sober and going through so much self reflection while writing superbloom helped him develop a much more, idk, forgiving? attitude toward himself. and i am so proud of him for that!
I feel like he’s doing these bc he hates media interviews (he’s said they’re boring etc). Also those interviews don’t even touch on important things in their life and have these conversations which I think fans are more interested in hearing, so I’m really happy they took it upon themselves to have some fun with it and let us into their personal headspace a little 💕
They always inspire me. Why can't others do interview like this? There are only a handful number of interviews that I actually like and that are comfortable.

I also appreciate everything that Ashton have said here, how I wish I had a friend like him with this kind of thinking.
Asya Afrika it was 2016 and 2017, i think the interview 5 sauces with 5sos michael explained that they were touring basically everyday of 2015 and needed a break, more for like maybe promoting but not shows. and they took 2017 to right the album youngblood bc they wanted to get it right and produce something they’re proud of. they knew if they continued right after the ROWYSO tour in 2015 they wouldn’t have made an album they loved

I guess they grew up way too soon, being in the entertainment industry since they were teens, made their fair share of mistakes, both personally and professionally, and the fact that their lives are of such public interest....it can either screw you up really badly, or really make you strong and deep. You need a lot of support, and some very good coping mechanisms (that are not drugs, pharmaceuticals or alcohol or sex). I really hope these boys become stronger, and that they are surrounded by good people, and even when they are screwed over or face stressful times they can cope with it healthily. We need these boys for the long haul!
They’re talking about some pretty beautiful, raw, vulnerable and rare (for “celebrities” to open up candidly about topics like medication, spiritual/non spiritual principals) topics and most of the comments are about like super surface level things and it’s kind of a bummer to see
I really appreciate them talking about mental health and feel like they would be great people to raise awareness about mental health. I have struggled with anxiety my whole life and suffer from depression and OCD as well, it’s a struggle but people like them talking about their struggles really helps.

Ashton and Calum, for young guys of 25 and 23 are very mature. We need these boys for the long haul!

calum’s interview turn in ashton’s AND WE LOV TWO KINGS WHO TALK THEIR HEART OUT
Calum is so intelligent in how he speaks like he is so well spoken
Sis you need to talk more in interviews i love you 🤣❤️
i think calum has a magic, beautiful and interesting soul.
this is why I love him so much.
They’re talking about some pretty beautiful, raw, vulnerable and rare (for “celebrities” to open up candidly about topics like medication, spiritual/non spiritual principals) topics and most of the comments are about like super surface level things and it’s kind of a bummer to see
In the first 20 seconds I already fell in love with Calum all over again
Ashton calling Cal brother oh god so pure 💕💕
Calum is so deep and such a amazing person I never realize realized since he doesn’t really talk much wow. He’s so underrated 🥵🥺
I really appreciate them talking about mental health and feel like they would be great people to raise awareness about mental health. I have struggled with anxiety my whole life and suffer from depression and OCD as well, it’s a struggle but people like them talking about their struggles really helps.
Ashton is such a good interviewer
i love how much Ashton cares for what the boys say and think.
I'm not very good with expressing myself too, I feel that learning how to express oneself is one of the reasons we live.
Damn that hits hard
I don't know who you are, but u sorta made me understand my purpose in life
@@miniaturecreature I'm glad I've helped u in a way, if u wanna talk I have Insta
