My deceased ex husband blamed himself because he told his father to help him with the garden. He met his friends and didn't show up.
When he came back to her mother's house (the first wife) he found out on the News on TV, his father's new wife shot his father in the head a few times. She tried to commit suicide but failed.
No matter how many times I told him that not being in that house saved his life, it didn't help and I had to divorce from him; it was killing me not having a moment of rest because he spent the money on alcohol to numb his feelings and was destroying me in his self-destruction process.
Many years later, I found out he had spent four years living with a much younger woman and she was very loving to him. She couldn't help him either. She found him dead. I hope she doesn't blame herself. There was nothing me or she, anyone could have done better.
He never wanted to talk about it. He only did under the influence and always rejected therapy.
We can't change anyone. We could help but not if that person refuse talking, therapy and just repress their emotions or numb them.
We are not Gods and I don't think that he could have done anything if he would have gone to help him with the garden, besides getting killed too, to prevent his father's death.
I hope this helps you a little ❤

If a person is suffering and unhappy, they have the choice to go away, to seek help (there is enough help out there), to talk about it etc. But deciding to not see any of that, to take the road of suicide, is a choice. The "you're the only one" lie is a big one. That mass isolation from the rest makes you feel uniquely flawed, and fuels feelings of inferiority and unworthiness which perpetuates a vicious cycle of not being very social, and then believing that the lack of a social life is because of your flaws, but it's actually from the control that those core beliefs/feelings have whether you're aware or not - a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Interesting how as humans we want to punish ourselves--consciously or unconsciously--for the shame and guilt we experienced in the past. I totally agree with his advice at the end. Wormtongue will fight to stick around, lives off of disconnection, and some people in the environment feed wormtongue and thus should be avoided and discredited. My wormtongue sprouted up from the criticism from family members and from my own unrelenting standards, as well as the social rejection I felt in high school.

The only reason I didn't take my life on several occasions was because I didn't want to leave my son behind motherless. The first time it happened, Julien was telling a guy on stage that he wouldn’t hang out with him because he was fucking disgusted with him (the point being to trigger a voice inside to narrate for the crowd). I probably looked like a lunatic because I was walking my dog while listening, and I started crying, hard, and narrating my own inner child/voice.

I would add that toxic people and toxic ambient plays a huge role in our inner critic issues.
If we are surrounded by someone critical, negating, violent, aggressive - our thoughts will be toxic, too.
Especially with internalized toxic shame inside us - whereas self validation as said in video is anti-dote to toxic shame.
With toxic shame we turn to other people for validation, guidance and explanations and definitions about anything in life which is deadly combination if those people are toxic - and with toxic shame we will attract toxic people, they sniff it out inside us and parasite on our inner critic.

@@you_dont_wanna_know1969 Things start to be extremely complex when we are being programmed by the same toxic environment to normalize the abuse and convince ourselves that we are too sensitive and must be strong.
Then the advice from third party who cannot see toxic dynamics will unintentionally add up to invalidation...
Especially if there is reactive abuse (when someone loses cool with the abuser and then appears as aggressive one).
I see trauma, abuse and narcissism as the common ground and cause of any psychological disorder which is often hidden from the view and all the blame is shifted onto the victim of abuse, the survivor.

Improving our relationships is improving our mental health.
      William Glasser
Interpersonal strife with those close to us leads to rifts and resentments that produce symptoms of mental illness; these problems are, in fact, the logical consequence of troubled relationships.
Glasser emphasizes that lasting psychological problems are usually caused by problems in our personal relationships (rather than signifying a biochemical abnormality in the brain), and distress can be remedied through repairing these relationships without recourse to psych drugs.
      WILLIAM GLASSER
      DK THE PSYCHOLOGY BOOK
We are, by nature, social beings. When our close interpersonal relationships are troubled we become unhappy. We can treat psychological problems by repairing interpersonal relationships; drugs are unnecessary.

I used to think I am not good enough I had to try to change all these about me to become the person I want to be and do what I want to do. But you have since made me realize that I just need to fucking own being me and be proud of being me what ever that maybe and that life becomes easier when you do so. I am not there yet but looking forward to when that day comes. Thank you.

Watching this video and others like it, I feel and I imagine that most people feel, this sense of connection, the pain of regret, the attacking voice and the deep desire to forgive and the struggle to do that. I always find myself seeing their pain and seeing my own and just wishing so hard for them to heal but unlike when it comes to myself, there is no doubt nothing that says you don't deserve it, the feeling of joy when you see someone begin to heal is real and I hope that I and everyone else can strart to give ourselves the same love and encouragement.💗

The best gift you have for us is all these videos you produced on TH-cam. Im from Malaysia and i didnt think i could ever meet you, but i stumbled upon your videos and never stopped watching ever since... I've been struggling with self confidence and self love. After watching your videos, I learned so many great ways to release my hatred from within myself and others. And I realized I could even help my parents to heal from their own self-hatred. Kudos to you, you just helped me restore my humanity and confidence..

You cannot blame yourself for someone dying because it will eat you up inside and destroy you. Sometimes it is just someone’s time and it was prewritten years ago or when they were born or before they were born eons ago. You just have to have more gratitude than you realize you can have. Be appreciative of the time you had with them on this earth. Nothing is ours in this life forever it’s all temporary ❤when I lost my son I had to learn all of this. Truly love those who are still in your life and tell them you love them often. Also don’t waste any of these precious days we have on this beautiful earth bcs they’re a gift. Pls if you’re suffering from guilt or depression from someone’s death talk about it as often as you can abs with whomever you can bcs that will help you not to spiral into more negative thoughts. Hugs 🥰
