I just started up Photo Dojo on my 3DS for the first time in forever to take a look back at the incredible roster I created.
Every single character slot is me making a menacing grimace from different angles with vaguely threatening names such as "OOZE-KILLER" and "PIANO" except for the last character slot, which is a crudely drawn image of Wario.

Man, Photo Dojo was soo much fun for me as a kid. I still have my original save file on my 3DS, through 2 system transfers (DSi > 3DS > New 2DS XL). Also, I bet everyone did this, but making a stick figure fighter was something really easy to do, just take a picture with the camera sensor covered lol.

I loved the video by the way!

I remember getting this on my DSi a few years ago and damn was it fun, the concept alone of creating your own fighters and stages amazed me even though they were simple pictures. I didn't think of googling other fighters though I just always made my own stuff.

I remember browsing the 3DS eShop a lot when I was younger and always seeing this game. I never got it, but the game always stuck in my mind due to its strangeness.

  • @Meepston
    @Meepston 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Man, where do I begin with this game. I initially got it on my DSi when it was actually still free, and from Day 1 I loved the game and it stole my heart. I remember making stages based on the playroom that my siblings and I had in our house, using backgrounds like a couch, a table, the TV screen, and some toy structures. I stopped playing after a while because the friends I used to play it with either moved away or moved on, but when Cloud was announced for Smash 4 in my freshman year of high school I took a crack at it again and made Cloud in Photo Dojo so my friends and I could mess around with how silly it all was. I'm now about to graduate high school, but it really only felt like a few years ago that Nintendo gave us this obscure gem. Photo Dojo's got a special place in my heart, and I'll never forget all the times I created some truly cursed fighters and stages. God bless

I didn’t really understand the free promotion for Photo Dojo so I begged my parents to get me a DSiXL for my birthday, expecting to get it bundled in or something. I wasn’t too bummed about not being able to get it since the DSiXL had it own exclusive pack-in, a Brain Age game with Dr. Mario in it, but purchasing Photo Dojo was my first step into the Nintendo Marketplace.

I loved the concept of using the camera to create your own fighters, although I did wish you could've gotten more creative with how you make the fighter. I've constantly though of how they could've gone and made a better version of this game, like allowing more editing options such as just taking a picture and erasing unnecessary detail so all you have is what you want to see, which could allow for unique attacks and poses. Still was fun for a simple little game though.

Man, i played with this so much when I was tiny. Great times. Especially with the softlock of fireballs over and over again.

I remember going to my friends house and we would play this game together a lot. When I later got the game, I played it with my brothers and had a blast

    The Soundtrack is epic.
Club Beat (AKA Dramatic) is perfect for fighting that one friend who you'd consider your equal.

    Thank you man
I don't really have many memories of this game other than making my friends cringe around a decade or whatever after it came out and confusing my mom when she saw one of the stages was just outside.

This was my first dsi game back then, and my friends and I had a blast making our characters

There's another game that uses a camera on the DSi you should take a look at...I believe it's called Looksley's Line-Up!

Duuuuude. This video was seriously nostalgic to watch. I had some mad fun with this game as a kid. I vividly recall adding a monkey plush with flexible legs I had, recording monkey imitations and beating the crap out of it in the single player mode...that sounds really weird and bad when I put it like that but it was fun back then!

Not even joking, I put months into this game when I was younger. I was so addicted to it for no discernible reason. I spent so long trying to perfect the single player run.
