I've watched many videos and listened to artists talk. You sir are without a doubt THE ARTIST'S PHILOSOPHER. Thank you for being so grounded and sharing that foundation with those of us just starting. Oh, By the way, I am 73, have been a photographer for over 50 years but have just last month picked up a brush to start a new channel of art. I will subscribe because I know I will learn. Thanks again and have a great year. Stay safe.

sometimes people dont know what the artist went trough to get the reults of his curent paintings. they only see result and not processes. how it happened and became, and how the inspiration is optained and manifested . maybe it is something very methapysical

You speak from my heart dude. I wont bore you with the details, but I recently found that my motivation and inspiration is greater when I set a pinpoint goal and think about why I am making a piece, be it practice, finding an artstyle, or making a portfolio piece. All part of a bigger more fulfilling goal of course.

Whenever i draw something i want it to look cool and stuff like that and i always get frustrated bc i always think that its not good enough to show it to my friends, but so far whatever i do always gets a positive reaction out of them, so i think i should stop worrying about how it will look and just go with the flow and show them whatever i make. Thanks for the advice : )

You didn't aim for that... but... you kinda gave me a starting point for a ground breaking solution to my life crisis. I'm in hospital right now, e.g. because I couldn't find a way for myself to earn money and still do work that fits my character and abilities. That was crushing my soul for nearly 20 years now and I was just burned out and absolutely hopeless for my future self, to be anything like satisfied or even more than just simply existing and working.
Thank you. Really. I might be over dramatic but right now it means a lot to me. 💖

Great message. I really only paint to try to better my skills and hopefully paint better paintings in the future. I don't worry about selling, getting likes/attention, or things like that and it takes a lot of pressure out of painting. I go through phases of motivation and productivity, to very lazy or ignoring painting for a long stretch. Just trying to keep it enjoyable and when I find myself getting frustrated or not motivated I just don't do it. Not the best attitude for trying to get better but it works for me and not forcing myself to try to be something I am not makes me enjoy it more in the long run.

Man this has completely made me reconsider why I set myself up to fail really. I started getting back into drawing and decided to do a 365 challenge. I am obviously only a week in and even though I did draw yesterday I have been getting frazzled with needing to post and post something "good" it isn't really fair to myself. I was happy just doodling and colouring. Then bam 365 challenge. That was maybe more for trying to push for likes. But i actually think it's making me more unhappy. So maybe reel it in and just do what I like is good enough for now. Thanks either way great video and a new sub looking forward to more.
So a lot about me here but how you helped. 🤔 Either way have a great start to the year.

This is awesome advice. Especially if you are painting for a living (both traditional and digital).
It really is creatively freeing to be sure to paint for yourself too.
I always try to incorporate that into my plan anyway, because that's why I chose this path in the first place, but sometimes it's difficult because if you hit on a theme and style people really resonate with, and you are making a living doing what you enjoy, you want to keep doing it.
Sometimes you want to explore new themes and continue organically evolving your own style (and yes, even have several styles you love to draw and paint in), but it's hard to sqeeze the time in to do that.
But make that time for yourself, you won't regreat it, plus it will help keep you out of the artist's creative block too.

He loved it...even wants another painting...and a bigger canvas. :) And my painting was just an experiment...because I don't have experience with traditional art like painting..I was more with digital art...Painting is like a new set of rules for me lol But I guess I did very good because it was sold the minute I finished it.
I started that painting in the summer too...I wanted to break it in half...but so glad I didn't pressure myself to finish it fast...just paint when I feel like...and it was worth it. Learned so much

Hi Alpay, thanks for sharing this outstanding video. My attention was drawn to the part where you finished the work and put away your brushes. How do you keep your brushes in between painting sessions? Do you clean them all the time, or do you keep them in oil? And if so, how? If you ever consider making a video about oil painting basics, or taking care of your art supplies, I'd appreciate getting to know how you approach to this situation. I know there are lots of videos out there, but I'm also interested in your perspective. Thank you again and have a lovely day.
