Special Olympics power lifters

Back in 1968, Eunice Kennedy Shriver founded the organization that became Special Olympics, the world's largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities. The first official Special Olympics Winter Games were held in 1977 in Colorado. Since Eunice's daughter, Maria Shriver was married at the time to a former Mr. Universe, Arnold Schwarzenegger, it makes sense that power lifting was added to the roster of the Special Olympics competitions.

I work with swimmers in special Olympics (I have a meet with them tomorrow) and it is the BEST thing I've ever done! If you have the time, volunteer! It's so rewarding and fun and means the world to these kids!
