@@bhutch216 to be fair greenday are icons of both the 90's and 00's if one of the more modern bands deserves to be inducted it's them. Their popularity matched U2's at that point in time, thats something to think about. The other modern acts that might deserve it are muse and the Foo Fighters and maybe linkin park with the passing of chester.
@@bhutch216 Not at all. It's all about how long they've been performing. The fact that they are still on the top of their game 30 years in is pretty impressive.
This is one of the youngest bands inducted at the Hall of Fame. Billy Joel Armstrong was only 44 when this happened. Green Day was formed in 1987. This happened in 2016, just 29 years after they formed they band. In comparison think about everyone else inducted. They are all much older. Their youth is shown in their activity on stage and having a very limited backup (one keyboardist, one rhythm guitar - that is it).
Wdym underappreciated?? They're one of the biggest bands of all time. This is literally from their induction into the rock and roll hall of fame. I don't think underappreciated is the word you're looking for, my guy
@@unfortunatefilth4361 well i can see they meant...i know alot of people who dont get green day or like them but to that i say" WHATS WRONG WITH THEM?"they have some of the best songs ever...remember when boulevard came out it was no.1 on the rock charts for awhile and i said its gonna be no.1 overall watch...and it was....and American idiot was a flipping masterpiece so i dont think theyre underappreciated but i have heard people saying overplayed or overrated...and they must be dumb lol
ngl: because they did Ramones in 2002, I half expected Fall Out Boy would do three of their songs and it would be a passing of the torch. BUT, i definitely like this better and wish I could've been there
well, if you have the band still together and alive, why not letting them play their songs? also, any other band would be better than having "fall out boy" playing green day songs
Well come on...been playing these songs for 3 decades just about( since they got together..it has to be cause dont u have to be in the band playing for a total of 30 yrs for HOF?)IDd be exhausted too lol
That part at 7:17 is also featured in Bang Bang ...!!!

Absolutely. I graduated high school in 1995 and Greenday was huge. It’s awesome that they are still playing together.
2:37 It's Paul McCartney!!!
Well Ringo did get inducted as well but it was funny to see Macca enjoying Green Day
I love how Mike looks like a regular dad that has a 9-5 job, rips the sleeves off and becomes a rockstar by night
Imagine McCartney jammin to ur song, damn
Or playing a song with Ringo Starr.
Paul Rockin' and Ringo wanted them to play are all the proof how good is greenday
I am 62. This is old school talent. One of the best concerts we have been to, and we have been to MANY.
😭 when they played basket case, omg so proud
I love it when the inductees are in their touring prime when they do their HoF show.
Sean Landis that means that shouldn’t be in there yet.
