He’s an athlete. People, including myself, are commenting on his body because they honestly believe that he would improve if he made a small change. There’s nothing improper about such suggestions. It should be considered heartwarming that people care and believe he has potential.
As a bodybuilder/coach, i absolutely love the 300lb crowd who have absolutely no clue about health/fitness etc yet are keyboard warriors talking down on people who they wish they could be. Keep up the good work man.
I would absolutely recommend that Mr. Wood try gaining 3-5 lbs and see if that positively affects his power and energy levels. No one is suggesting that he should become a 200 lb bodybuilder.
My favorite is the bozos chastising his diet and proceeding to endorse keto and carnivore. 100+ miles basically elicits a high-carb approach. It's almost not an option.
@@andrewcra Why would one need a high-carbohydrate diet to run 100 miles a week? Carbohydrates are not required for volume; they’re required for intensity. If 20 of those 100 miles are in the form of repeat quarters, then Yes, you’re going to need a lot of carbs. But if it’s 100 miles of “marathon training”, then I don’t know why there would be any special need for carbs to be a high percentage of calories.
thank you for addressing something a lot of us skinny runners get told. been called a skeleton too many times but now i realize im not the only one dealing with it.
If your goal is to have a very low BMI, so be it. But if you want to be the fastest distance runner that you can be, there is a lower limit to how low that BMI should be, and if you try to go below it your performance will suffer. And for most people, if your BMI falls below about 19.2-19.3, you’re not going to have the energy resources necessary to train and run optimally. Hormone levels get out of whack, recovery suffers, and performance crashes.

Yeah if you run like an athlete or everyday an hour plus or something you lose weight. But most like overweight people just do like 30 minutes slow workouts and not even everyday lol. That’s what they mean by it won’t make you lose weight. On top of that they’ll eat too much so the weight the lose doing cardio they gain it back eating lol
Everybody and every body is different… if you aren’t taking care of yours it’ll break down… just block out the negativity and focus on what works for you… your are doing great!!!
Nice video, and as everyone else has said, almost all the noise is from people who couldn't do 10% of what you do. Also, just to feel a little less stressed or crunched, I've found it *very* helpful to meal prep for lunch and possibly dinner. Even having something that can last 3-4 dinners is great, and making 4-5 lunches and putting them in glass containers or whatever saves so much time and angst during the busy week. Cheers!
Congrats Adam Wood on your dedication to running. As an an avid 65 year old runner and standing 5 ' 10" and 129 pounds, I also get a lot of grief about my weight, but my health is great and my running level is better than 95 % of 20 year old's. BTW - Your nail health says volumes about your general health!
It’s impressive that you maintain such a low BMI… but it probably isn’t optimal for your running. If you were to gain just 5 lbs of muscle and fat, you would go from a BMI of 18.5 to 19.4, and your running would likely improve. Very few athletes operate optimally at BMIs below 19.0. (And yes, that includes distance runners.)
Newbie here, but I just want to shout out to you that "You're Rocking" your physique! You are doing something that many of us cannot commit to, and I served in the Marines back in 2001! @@abaddonmorningstar8871 ok I’m just now realizing that you might be developmentally challenged. Distance runners want to be able to run long distances at a fast pace. The best way to improve stamina while running is going for consistent, long runs (with occasional rest days). If he doesn’t run enough, his cardiovascular fitness will gradually decrease until he begins regressing in his times during races. If his goal is to improve his times for long distance races, then he needs to be doing an adequate amount of mileage, thus he cannot “do less” or “lay off the cardio”.
Hey - forget the haters. That being said, have you thought about prepping? The problem with figuring it all out on the fly is you can miss important nutrients or sacrifice quality for convenience. As a runner, who served as well. Protein is the key, followed by Carbs. Your body needs alot of protein to help with recovery. I did morning PT at 0600, ran 4 miles after at 70-85 percent race pace, did 15 sets of pull ups, 10 sets of push ups, and 20 mins of core work. I found the key to be protein, alot, I mean carbs helped but to feel fresh protein is needed.

6:12 a very short 'anabolic window' has been mostly disproven. I think the actual window goes a few hours after a workout, and it can be negated by protein pre-workout. I do always get a shake or protein bar in though, just because I always feel somewhat hungry/empty after. Also mica is not weird. I like seeing someone enjoy their food

@@MrSeedi76 It's simple physics, biology, and natural selection. You'll NEVER see a 240-pounder run a 2:05 marathon.....or even a 3:05....no matter how hard they train. The heart and lungs of a 150-pound 6-foot male are the same size as a 240-pound 6-foot male. So are all the other internal organs. Heat dissipation is the number-one limiting factor in running a marathon and thinner bodies shed heat far easier. Excess heat raises heart rate and lowers VO2 max. Each step with that 90 extra pounds taxes every resource of the body exponentially.
Adam is the perfect human body type and what we were all meant to look like. Processed foods and obesity really screwed up our perception on what normal looks like.
why are you just eating "a little bit of protein" when you exercise so much and that thin? That much exercise plus the bodies own breakdown needs a lot of protein to rebuild and repair. You are not eating nowhere near enough to rebuild and repair all the damage caused by exercise. Banana, fruit, yoghurt does zilch to repair muscles, ligaments joints. You need 3 protein rich meals a day.
Bro, he runs sub 5 minute miles. Can you do that? His body is a well oiled, specialized machine. If he really wasn't getting enough protein, his body would be consuming the muscles in his body that allowed him to run like that, and he wouldn't be hitting elite athlete levels of performance.

Yeah and for mine I train 2 times a week for 30 to max 45 minutes. I like efficiently and smart training not at the cost of any biology causing degeneration 😉 I am optimized for total stronger biology. There's also a reality in that an athlete needs MUCH more calories than an average person, especially somebody like you, who has such high exertion on a daily basis. Being naturally "skinny" isn't an excuse for constantly being in a calorie deficit. Your problem isn't in the amount of times you eat, it's the amount of calories you're eating. You're eating the same amount of calories as a sedentary person should, which isn't enough for an athlete. Problem is, long distance runners need to keep their weight low for competition. Let's not pretend that it's a healthy approach. Similar to fighters and wrestlers, who weight cut for fights. It's not healthy, but it's part of the game.

As a new viewer of your channel, I wanted to share my first impression of this video. The video should be a "what I eat in a day". However, it is tough to see what you actually ate, because the food is not being filmed that much, except for a brief moment. At 6:40, it briefly shows some food. Take a blink and you will miss it. That's why it is the most replayed part in the video, I believe. At 10:02, it shows some cinnamon rolls or whatever those are. I have no clue, so maybe some 'introduction' to a product like that could be nice, as I am not sure everyone is familiar with stuff like that. I've personally never heard of some 'cinnamon rolls', which I barely could read from the video's still images. The protein drink at 6:16 is upside down, so again, viewers are curious to see what are you waving there, but it is tough to read the name or the flavour. So, the video itself is pretty interesting and entertaining, but some critical parts were slightly unclear for a viewer like me, who just wanted to see what a 'skeleton' eats in a day as that was the reason to click and watch the video.

I would love a grocery haul / how much you spend a week (including sports nutrition supplements etc)?
Good idea!
thank you for addressing something a lot of us skinny runners get told. been called a skeleton too many times but now i realize im not the only one dealing with it.
I find it funny that no one tells a person they are fat only if they are skinny

It’s impressive that you maintain such a low BMI… but it probably isn’t optimal for your running. If you were to gain just 5 lbs of muscle and fat, you would go from a BMI of 18.5 to 19.4, and your running would likely improve. Very few athletes operate optimally at BMIs below 19.0. why are you just eating "a little bit of protein" when you exercise so much and that thin? That much exercise plus the bodies own breakdown needs a lot of protein to rebuild and repair.
I respect the hustle, and I'm skinny myself.
But at the same time I' m worried about your health bro..
Lol dont be. Get my blood checked regularly and got 0 deficiency 🤫
@@AdamWoodRuns I love your channel , and think your very motivational.
However in my experience my bloodwork was very unreliable, and there is an agenda to keep men weak Adam I wouldn't trust health organisations.
You can choose the path you want in life, but at least experiment with other paths, so you don't have any regrets when your older.
Why? He’s healthier than 99.5% of the population? Did we ever consider that compared to previous generations and countries, Americans are big?
