Kenya is embarking on a transformative economic development model set to commence in 2025, known as the Holistic Productive Capacities Development Programme (HPCDP). This 10-year initiative, designed in collaboration with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), aims to reshape Kenya's economic landscape by focusing on five key pillars:
Economic Diversification and Value Addition: Enhancing various sectors to reduce reliance on traditional commodities.
Infrastructure and Environmental Sustainability: Developing sustainable infrastructure to support economic activities.
ICT for Digital Transformation: Leveraging information and communication technologies to drive innovation.
Private Sector Growth: Empowering micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises to stimulate economic growth.
Skills Development and Policy Coordination: Building human capital and ensuring cohesive policy implementation.
The HPCDP aligns with Kenya's Vision 2030, which aspires to transform the nation into a newly industrializing, middle-income country providing a high quality of life to all its citizens in a clean and secure environment.

In support of this vision, Kenya has initiated discussions with the United Arab Emirates to secure financing for completing a regional railway after China ceased its infrastructure funding. This move aims to extend the Standard Gauge Railway to connect Kenya with Uganda and South Sudan, fostering regional trade and integration.

Additionally, Kenya is launching a digital nomad visa to attract remote workers worldwide, further integrating into the global digital economy. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to boost tourism and position Kenya as a hub for connectivity and entrepreneurial growth.
