    This is an eye opener! Because everyone on our fb page bemoans that they can't get their watercolour to look the same as their photos or they can't get their watercolour to look the same as Sarah's on the LMA tutorials - this is proof no two pics will ever be the same! Because the tutorial example pic, the pan pic and liquid pic ALL LOOK DIFFERENT! In very good ways I might add!
    They all look different, but perfect!

    The technique you used to create the clouds is amazing and soòooooo simple that as a beginner I have a great addition to my knowledge imagine trying to paint with watercolours at the age of 78yrs. So thank you very much🙏🙏🌷💐⚘🍁

    You can paint on wood. But, you will have to put several layers of watercolor ground down first. This gives an absorbent coating that will accept and hold watercolor paint.

    Thank you. This process is a change from your previous format. We all know people struggle with change, I enjoyed following the pan paint because it was new for me. I will paint it again with the liquid paint because I am more comfortable with liquid. I enjoyed the change...but will stick to liquid.

    Another great tutorial thank you Sarah. To everyone that thinks they need expensive products to do watercolour... I have just followed along using my own pans (Tiger shops less than £5 for the set), paper (Daler Rowney aquafine A4 pad) and brushes (SAA Round 6, Daler Rowney round 2). I didn't use an outline, although I did pencil in a couple of rectangles with a triangle on the tops to represent the silos. I think it turned out ok. Will upload to insta & FB pages soon.

    As a 60 year old farm girl, I would identify your painting as grain bins. Silos are either much taller than they are wide or they are bags that lay on the ground. I like the moody country painting regardless of the name.

  • @joys4524

    Keenan you would have to put watercolour ground on wood before painting it. That way would work. I have painted on plastic after putting on a coat of watercolour ground first and it worked fine.

    The negative white spaces in your skies make it look so much more realistic! I have a tendency to just want to fill the entire space with blue and then the painting gets kind of muddled. It's hard to fight against my instincts!!

    • @LetsMakeArt
      @LetsMakeArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is really hard to leave the negative space sometimes. Especially when it comes to clouds.

      Donna Mulligan you can draw! Just look at picture of an object and copy lines that you see. Don’t try drawing just from what is in your head at first. I did not think I could and I am not super but I am getting better just by trying to copy what I am seeing in front of me. You can do it! 😊

      Sarah uses one of the most affordable brands of watercolor paper, and you can see, it works out great for her projects. So it's definitely not going to break the bank to get it. Canson XL, 140 lb. She is also very thoughtful to always use the same 2 brushes for her projects so that you don't need to buy a lot of different brushes. So, if you're on a limited budget, you have found the right teacher! :)

    Help? I've been trying to paint this but I don't have space blue. I tried to get a navy with the blues I have (tahoe blue, azure blue, and sea blue), trying out mixtures with black and/or violet (which did give me a nice blue for the eggplant, but I can't seem to replicate it). Any suggestions what will give me the best shot at a good navy for these moody skies? It's one of my favorites. Thanks!

    It would be nice to learn what type of stroke/technique are used to make that cloud effect

    • @LetsMakeArt
      @LetsMakeArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The technique we use for these clouds is wet on wet! With your darkest value at the bottom of the cloud, you will want to pull color from the bottom of the cloud and do curved strokes as you blend the areas. Hope this helps!

    • @LetsMakeArt
      @LetsMakeArt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try pulling your tape off at an angle rather than straight up or down! Pull it away from your painting so that in case the paper does tear a bit, it doesn't ruin your image. You can also try placing the tape on your clothing before putting it on your paper to get some of that extra "stick" off :)

      His name is Keenan He‘s the camera man. His purpose is to give advice to Sarah about the video, be the "color man" pertaining to the session, Alexa tormenter, but most of all is a really nice guy. I think the real reason is that it would be pretty boring just watching Sarah paint without the banter. It gives people who are painting along with her some time to catch up.
