Went to Brescia myself and did the MM. And I saw Harry Metcalfe with a camera dancing around the Alfas before the start - but I didn't suspect he would actually drive one. LOVE it - exquisite is the word I am looking for ;)
Another reason why I love Harry Metcalfe and his wonderfully insightful, laid-back EVO diaries. All power to you Harry for continuing to share your motoring enthusiasm with similar like-minded souls.
I don't think Mr Clarkson or Nedeell would have been humble enough to do this sort of reportage for us passionate viewers. So thank you. For this piece and for the whole "dairies" series.
And yet again .................crackin' stuff from Harry ;o) I want to see the pedals/how the seat folds/ the boot interior...... No-one else does like you mate - a true Petrolhead.
He mentions the beetle coming by him. It came by us at full speed too. Definitely NOT stock for the period (we were in a car that should have eaten it for lunch). Glad to see the video of it having blown a motor along the way. Just desserts!
One word = Jealousy. They see people driving in these beautiful old cars which are worth thousands if not millions they get angry because they don't have that asset or the money just to enjoy life. What I said is not necessarily be considered the case but people can be jealous of anyone who drives a brand new Lamborghini or these beautiful "well aged" cars like this stunning and beautiful Alfa Romeo.
What 'no brakes' meant in this case? Was the braking hardware completely missing or it was "just" very worn out? It sounds incredibly dangerous anyway... I don't know how the factory team could let it go like that. Maybe that also shows how much care they give building cars...?
Figure of speech more likely. It is a 1950's car and very likely has drum brakes all around. Good for the day but nowhere near the performance of modern disk brakes. As a driver, Harry would have to be prepared for much longer braking distances than he might expect. So it might feel like he "has no brakes".
WTF were they protesting about? They fucking green peace people or what? If they are they should be glad to come from an area that is so rich in automotive history! Hell, I'm from Ohio, I'm glad the whole gas and oil thing started here! and its starting again!
Wow, he actually got the Lincoln right! Its a 54! Lol even I thought it was just like an old show car with a bunch of different parts, like maybe pontiac trim, 55 buick lower bumper with cadillac cones. Lol bleahk lincoln made ugly cars in the early 50's.
Harry, thank you for sharing these wonderful experiences. You are doing such a great job, showing a big heart for the beautiful cars!

Total legend!......Harry wasn't bad either! ;)
Superleggera? wow, that's nice mr. Metcalfe
great way to make a living
This is a great adventure, and that blonde beauty isn't so hard to look at either.
Harry, curious what you meant when you said you signed your life away.
unlike most car brands, Alfa Romeo 'coz they've made awesome cars in the past and rubbish cars now days, that's why i love Alfa Romeo...
What 'no brakes' meant in this case? Was the braking hardware completely missing or it was "just" very worn out? It sounds incredibly dangerous anyway... I don't know how the factory team could let it go like that. Maybe that also shows how much care they give building cars...?

are you allowed to 'speed' during the event?
4:45 That's how you know it's a real Alfa lol. Still gorgeous cars though.
WHERE IS MAH HD!?!
it was made by touring using supperlaggera construction which was famed before and after the war. they did a lot of cars in the past
Welcome to Italy, the place where nothing goes as it should
If you wached the whole video, you would seen that the only problem alfa had, was a loose batery cable!
NO seat belts?
I wouldn;t drive it around the block, let along take it Mille Miglia! Holy Deadly Impact Batman!
What was the protest about, i don't speak Italian
is that harry's wife next to him?
No Tiff this time?!
didnt he just do the mille miglia in his barchetta?
11:22 damn
16:29 "cavello, Cavello, CAVELLO!!!"
Why the hell would anyone protest a classic car rally?
LOL, driving on the sidewalk
If those protesters weren't there, the Aston wouldn't have overheated ._____.
tell me that when you crash lol
It's worth it just to get you annoyed.
Umm, I think that's his wife (the co-driver).
WTF were they protesting about? They fucking green peace people or what? If they are they should be glad to come from an area that is so rich in automotive history! Hell, I'm from Ohio, I'm glad the whole gas and oil thing started here! and its starting again!
Lol the Protest...XD
Column mounted shifter, Yuck. :-/
God, I wish I was a feemason aswell sometimes.
Luckiest guy in the planet
Protesters = fun stoppers. Why don't they protest their politicians instead of people having a nice time
might have been a joke lol :P
what? :o
