    omg how did I miss this!?! Your rendition is so good!! Damn that articulation tho....!

    • @Soundole
      @Soundole  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! This feels like it was from an age ago! If I remember correctly, back then I was articulating on the mouthpiece rather than using my palate like I do now (I've been sanding down a lot of edges on my EWI sound over the years)!

    Absolutely, this IS the perfect instrument for Gameboy music! So pure and we really hear all the parts clearly! I am playing this game right now and your version will forever be dancing in my head as I play :)

    This is distilled, Soundole perfection. Everything I love about your music/videos was here: excellent arrangement giving all parts room to play while maintaining a simple, honest sound, crisp playing, elegant videography, and just a wonderful, full sound. Well done.

      @Soundole  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +zaglamir Thanks heaps Zach, I'm really flattered! This was one that I was particularly anxious about turning out okay, so I'm glad you're pleased with the final result!

    I agree with rebecca, your EWI has the true sound of the gameboy soundtrack

    • @Soundole
      @Soundole  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I definitely got into making covers by trying to emulate those original system sounds! In fact, I think on some of my very early video I was using some patches that sounded even more chiptuney, because I was trying very much for replication.

      +Banjo Guy Ollie Thanks mate! I replayed this a few months ago after capturing footage for a previous video, and I was surprised how well most of the mechanics held up. The last dungeon is pretty brutal, but apart from that it was a really strong distillation of what made the Zelda formula great!

    Soundole, I'm a musician and I'm wanting to learn as many instruments as I can. I'm already decent at guitar, and great at cello, piano, and harmonica. Would an EWI be a good choice for learning a woodwind instrument?

    • @Soundole
      @Soundole  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +SleightTrain Hi mate! It depends on what you're looking for. There's a lot of skill transfer between clarinet, saxophone, recorder, and EWI (and maybe even partially flute). The EWI removes any barriers related to fucking around with reeds or having to worry about intonation, but it does demand that fork fingerings (where fingers are simultaneously going up and down) are executed a little bit more snappily than on acoustic winds. Most settings are adjustable though, which should ease you in - breath pressure and fingering change speed are both adjustable. My biggest concern would simply be that there's stuff you can get away with on the EWI that you can't get away with on acoustic winds - it never really forces you to learn to breathe and play openly, which is an absolute requisite of getting a decent and stable sound on any acoustic wind instrument.
      Despite that, it's almost certainly the only wind instrument where you can get a top of the range professional model for a little over $1000. I'd be very keen to hear what your impressions are approaching it from a musically literate but non-wind background!
