You guys are a lovely couple. I came here from the European Reacts channel, who recommended I subscribe to your channel. I am a Floridan, and I loved your shirt. I grew up going to Daytona Beach all of the time, even though I lived in High Springs. If you ever come back to Florida (and haven't already been), go to St. Augustine, which was founded in 1565 and is the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the USA. *Castillo de San Marcos National Monument* The oldest masonry fort in the USA, the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, is a must-see if you visit the area. It was built by the Spanish engineer Ignacio Daza. The construction began in 1672, when Florida was a part of the Spanish Empire. The fort was built in response to a raid by English privateer Robert Searles in 1668, which destroyed most of St. Augustine and the original wooden fort. Construction was completed in 1695. Britain gained control of Florida in 1763, and St. Augustine was deemed the capital of British East Florida. The fort was renamed Fort St. Mark under British control. After a peace treaty in 1783, the fort was transferred back to Spanish control, and its original name was then restored. *Lightner Museum* The Lightner Museum is housed in the Hotel Alcazar, which was built in 1887 in the style of Spanish Renaissance Revival. The building was built by John Carrère and Thomas Hastings. It houses a beautiful collection of American Gilded Age pieces. The hotel was commissioned by Henry Flagler, who helped develop much of the Atlantic Coast of Florida. Inside the hotel itself, there are several points of interest, including the museum. There is also the Cafe Alcazar, which boasts amazing food and service between the hours of 11 AM and 3 PM. The surrounding area has several other notable and historic buildings that are worth a look, especially if you enjoy architecture. *St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park* You may also want to visit the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park, depending on your taste. This gator farm is one of the oldest continuously running attractions in Florida since 1893. There are a total of 24 species of crocodilians housed there, as well as other reptiles, birds, and mammals. Sometimes there are performances or educational experiences. The best time to visit is early in the morning or late in the evening, when the alligators are most active. If you want to see the gator feedings, though, you need to come at 12 PM, 3 PM, or 6 PM every day in the summer months. *Other notable mentions* in the area are Old Town Trolley Tours, St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum, Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum, Colonial Quarters, Villa Zorayda Museum, The St. Augustine Amphitheatre, and Saint Augustine Distillery. There is more history in Florida than almost anywhere else in the USA. However, you should be cautious because I have heard there are pickpockets in the area the last several years. You will want to secure your wallet to yourself with a chain, or wear a front pouch if you visit.
I've lived in Canada my whole life. What shocks me when I go to America is how friendly the American people are-- all races. Americans are harder working than we are, they give service with a smile; they are quick to invite you into their home. They give more to charity; they are the first to help out. Sad that this magnificent country is turning all this hate on themselves. Haven't been state side for a number of years-- I bet Old Glory isn't displayed with pride anymore. I hope I'm wrong.
We still have the same pride in our country with flags on homes and bridges (still see that since 9/11 when there was a flag on every bridge and car). We don't let our biased media paint us all with their broad brush. And thanks for compliment about working hard, yes too hard, often with skimpy vacations which isn't good.
yet the leftist media is pushing the agenda that the United States is the most racist country and if you are flying the US flag you are a white supremacist. I know it's not true and it is very sad to see unfolding. I was born and raised in another country, moved to the USA when I was in my 30s. So I can compare and contrast.
@@MsDropofrain thank God there were millions more people who rejected Trump and his hateful agenda. The Us is a mixed bag with lots of good and kind people and lots of mean spirited and racist people too. Hopefully good will prevail over evil.
@@_ckr If you've never paid much attention to a particular media corporation you'd never know things are so bad. It really takes visitors from abroad to open our eyes that things really are pretty damned great already.
I live in Ontario, Canada and two of my favourite places to visit are Myrtle Beach (for the golfing and food) and Cape Cod. I live near the border and we regularly {pre-covid) always cross the border to Buffalo to watch the Bills, Sabres, Bisons, and Bandits. Always enjoy ourselves and meet good people.
I worked in the Netherlands in the past and was surprised and dismayed at how negatively the United States was portrayed in its photo books. We see books in the U.S. with general themes of "America, the Beautiful", while those books showed some of that, but mostly slums, guns, and crime. It really opened my eyes as to how others view us and of course some of that is true. Almost every European visitor who has stayed with me was surprised how much better it is than what he/she expected. I especially remember one disabled friend (wheelchair) who was amazed at all the accommodations for the disabled here (ramps, auto doors, bathroom stalls, parking spots).
I worked in a liquor store and I loved my Canadian friends. I remember two ladies shrieking and yelling , I asked if there was a problem and they yelled the price the price. They told me that they would pay $45 for the bottle of rum that was priced $25. I thought they would faint when I gave them a coupon for $10 off of 2.
I moved to texas several years ago and thought anything above 45 F was comfortable. After about four years, anything under 80 can be quite chilly. Amazing how people adapt to where they live
I used to live in Tx with the humidity and blue norther winds from Canada bringing hard freezes to Austin. Like me, the Gila Monsters said enough and moved to Az.
I am born and raised on the Canadian prairies, and I wish winter was longer. I find December/January to be the most beautiful time of year by far. I've been invited by friends to come stay with them in Australia, and I always turn them down. I don't find that climate at all attractive.
I knew a girl in Alabama that moved from Miami. She would wear a heavy coat in the summer. She considered Alabama to be "too cold". I don't know what she'd do if she ever moved to Ohio.
I'm a Myrtle Beach resident. I'd like to express how much we missed our "snowbird" friends from Canada due to the pandemic. A lot of us (especially golfers) have gained friends from Canada over the years and missed them this year. Here's hoping things get back to normal soon.
I live in Ontario and we miss you too. My friends and I look forward to golfing every spring and we always meet interesting Americans from all over your country. Can't wait to get back. We're always treated very well there.
@@bobbrown5951 Thanks for watching yes we are all missing travelling , hopefully things will change soon 🏌️♂️and you can go back golfing in the USA 🇺🇸 Cheers 🍻
In general, people need to experience other countries and cultures much more. This is important in order to have a better world view, and to have an appreciation for other cultures.
We too believe this, it does a couple of things, shows how good we have it in our countries and gives an appreciation of how others live. Great comment thank you.
So true. Things are so different from what we're used to. There is much to learn. History is something that interests me so much more as an adult than it did as a young person. I appreciate things so much more as well.
@@eoinoconnell185 Well then at least you form an opinion based on your first hand knowledge and experience. As opposed to the stereotypes that other people might want you to believe.
The gift-wrapped houses made me giggle out loud. Many years ago I met a little boy visiting from Denmark with his family. I asked him what he liked most about the US. He answered “the car buildings!” After some clarification, I understood he meant parking structures. Apparently they didn’t have such things and it made such an impression on him. Fresh perspective is a gift.
Yea because they hate having to walk everywhere, but I wish we had that system in America. We are literally driving our country to the toilet, making ever bigger roads and homes with no character because huge garages took over
I used to work for a US affiliate of a Canadian firm. Whenever I was on the phone with a Canadian, I always found them to be so polite, knowledgable and professional.
I had a job exporting pipes and fittings to Canada. I dealt only with Canadians, and it was the most chill group of people I've ever dealt with. Here is a stereotype for you. One of the top sales reps I interacted with would tell me he was about to go hunt a moose after we finished on the call! 😄
The hardest thing when I lived in London for 15 months was how rude and mean all service people were. I was so homesick and would loved to have heard "have a nice day"!
True story about a Walmart greeter... an elderly chap applied for the job and as he seemed to be articulate, we]] mannered and bright, he got the job. He picked it up very quickly and within a few days he could tell shoppers exactly where to go to in the store for whatever they wanted in a pleasant and outgoing fashion. The management were very pleased with him, except for one thing... and at his first review, after about a month, his line manager praised him, except that he was always ten minutes late for work. 'Of course, ' explained the old boy, 'there's absolutely no point in me being there for the first ten minutes after we open, because there's never any customers in the first ten minutes.' 'Oh I see,' said his boss 'and tell me, what happened in your last job if you were regularly ten minutes late for work? Eh, just tell me that.' And the old boy replied 'Oh well, in that case, a girl came into my office and said, 'Are you ready for your coffee yet, Admiral?''.....
So true! We used to go to the "Myrtle" every April and October. People knew we were from Canada as we were swimming. Love Myrtle Beach and miss being able to go there. Hopefully next year we can go back for yearly visits.
OMG they are so wholesome!!! 😭😭😭 when kids and young adults talk about relationship goals it should be this lovely couple as their standard!! You can just see by how they talk to each other and the way they look into each other’s eyes, you can tell they’ve been blessed with a lot of love for each other their whole lives. Cheers to you both and may you have health, long life and an eternity of happiness!! ❤️🇬🇧❤️🇺🇸❤️🇨🇦❤️
What a lovely comment thanks for the compliments 🌺 we are very fortunate to have each other and having a blast being retired TFW and have a great week Cheers 🇬🇧🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦🌺
You are the married version of Mr. Rogers! I wish more people realized how wonderful the U.S.A. is! We are so fortunate and yet we are imploding...listening to all the negative press. 💔💔. I fly our flag 24/7! 🇺🇸💕🇺🇸💕🇺🇸💕
Your comments were invigorating to me! I kept having to tell myself, "Yeah, I guess they're right, but..." And then I realized you were indeed right, and I don't appreciate my country enough. Your articulate and genuine observations were a healthy kick in the shins for me. A set of foreign eyes really sees a lot. Thanks a million!
I am an ex Canadian, born in Ottawa. My British husband and I both became US citizens. We honor and love America so much. Nowadays, it makes us sad ( and angry) to see so many born Americans disrespect her, her history and her flag. God Bless America!❤️🇺🇸
@Amy Weinholtz a neighbor has two huge American flags hanging vertically on his wall in his garage. The stars are on the right of the viewer’s eyes; they should be on the left of the viewer’s eyes. I looked it up because I was looking for myself and that is the respectful way to hang an American flag. I gently explained it to him and he ignored me! Some people just don’t care!
You two are a delight ☺️ it’s no surprise you enjoy your travels - you are so positive and open to experience, I love it! You’re an inspiration for how to approach travel and new experiences: with an open mind and heart, ready to enjoy fully 🖤
Thank you for your insight and perspective. Too many people in the U.S. don't understand or appreciate how well we have it. Every country has their issues, but to live in the U.S. is truly a blessing.
This video warmed my heart. It is so wonderful to hear such wonderful stories from such a lovely and warmhearted couple. I wish all of our visitors could be as wonderful.
I'm from the Virginia Beach area. As a teenager in the 1990s I can recall all of the Canadian tourist at the Beach. I have no idea about these day I moved away about ten years ago. It's a fun place.
I expected harsh assessments from this couple but I was so pleasantly surprised. As an American myself, it's easy to see that so many other Americans have been conditioned to dislike and in some instances hate the United States. So many of our institutions like education, entertainment, and media teach our youth that the United States is inherently evil, only because of it's imperfections. This wonderful couple reminded us how great our country happens to be, based on the comparison of life experiences in their own country.
I blame the left brainwashing everyone through media, culture and educational system to be embarrassed and to hate being American. After all, Hate America is the left's definition of patriotism.
Nobody teaches anybody to hate America. Only that you should not be ok with treating women to be subservient to men, that people from a different race should be given the same treatment as you get, and that gender identity is a personal matter and not a reason to mistreat someone. Many Americans are not enjoying your freedom, so reflect why people are angry and protesting and see that it is a very American thing to do
Oh goodness the beach story reminds of when we took our sons to the beach on Christmas eve..The boys were playing in the water in their shorts and t shirts others on the beach in their coats telling us about the water temp being 64 and how the boys would get hypothermia...We live in Iowa.. we are lucky if the pond we swim in warms up to 60 by the end of summer
My gosh this sure put me in a sunny frame of mind! You two are charming and thoughtful, loved the gift-wrapped house story, thank you. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your videos 🙂
So many of us still fly the flag all year long. I use to have a flag out except for winter, and now I have 2 flags, one on the front and one on the back. I live on a river that is extremely popular with fishermen, canoers and kayakers so I put another flag on the back riverside so it can be seen there too. We the so many things for granted in the United States, and you're right about so many people trying to tear the country apart, but there's still so many of us that will never believe in that kind of behavior.
So lovely to hear positive things about the USA. Thank you for posting. A lot of young American people who have not bothered to research how other countries live are so quick to condemn this land of hope and glory. I emigrated here from the UK in 1970.
We have had lots of wonderful vacations in the USA 🇺🇸 and taken cruises 🚢 from there too which were awesome (pre Covid) hope you are happy with your move Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
Thats why americans buy those massive ford f 150s. Best selling vehicle there. your observations are the same that Canadians experience. About driving to FLorida I thought I would try that from ontario. I got to the border at Winsor ontatio and said to myself this is crazy long and drove back home. I also feel at least in florida they're happy to see you came from canada you really feel welcomed at hotels restaurants etc. For all the problems that the media goes on about in the USA they do many things amazingly well better than anywhere.
U 2 are so cute! I am from Toronto Ontario but took off on my own rite after high school & i noticed all those same things too, i stayed in amerrica for over 20years & am back unfortunately in canada,,west coast & wow its so dam expensive here & cold...ive been down to mexico a few times & now thats the place to go for cheap & friendly & so much more....u guys would absolutley love it....u can drive down too...ppl are beyond nice & hospitable, its just how they are, food is amazing, weather year round amazing, & everything so so cheap!!
This feels like having a conversation with my in-laws, only I'm not saying anything... so it's like a normal conversation with my in-laws. Good stories. Cheers from Texas.
You should watch the video The Star Spangled Banner As You’ve Never Heard It. It explains exactly why we proudly display our beautiful flag and why we stand hand over heart for our national anthem. We fought hard for our independence and it tells the incredible story behind our patriotism. Cheers from Alaska
Americans did fight hard for there independence. The British coloniest committed treason for a better life. Came and stole the land from the true native Americans by genocide( Indian removal act/ trail of tears) dishonored treaties over and over and over again. Built a large portion of there wealth through the poor back of slaves atleast in the south. Not all where evil but people like you who make this country seem so great when in reality alot of evil had to be done to enjoy this country that wasn't yours to begin with.
@@newlife45692 You act like that's something new. Rome owned half the world, and before them Macedonia, and before them The Persians with Cyrus the Great. Colonists were just that, farmers and tradesmen who actually had to live with the Native Americans. Things like genocide happen because of the actions of a few in power and miscommunication between the masses. Human nature will always take the easiet path to create a society, even at the cost of slavery and genocide, which are both still rampant today.
What independence ? London and the Vatican have thier filthy evil claws in our backs for over 200 years . Not to mention the nefarious dealings of the freemasons .
I’m proud of how the people in the USA treated you. I’m from Murrells Inlet SC. Just 30 minutes south of Myrtle Beach. Moving last year from California to South Carolina I realized how friendly the people in the south are. It’s a wonderful place to live.
@@PapagenoMF You have got to be kidding. Biden has no idea how to get off the damn stage after a speech! He mumbles every speech - it is obvious he is in the throws of DEMENTIA! Talk about embarrassing.🤦🏼♀It is dangerous knowing this president, of the strongest country in the world - not only has no business being our president - he has no business even running a running damn 7-11!😳
I used to vacation in Englewood , Florida ever summer and met some wonderful British citizens on "Holiday". The same family for multiple years, such nice and friendly people, was so nice fishing with then every morning and sharing advice and friendship !
I am from Kentucky and the first time I went to Florida, I was confused as well about the tented houses. Our tour guide explained it was fumigation. My first thought was that I didn’t want to see what type of bugs that would require that much chemical to kill. I think tenting houses for fumigation is much more common in tropical areas of the US.
I'm happy that we Americans were kind and welcoming to you.... Thanks for letting us know about your visit.... It's nice to hear opinions about the US.... Good or bad..... I only wish that we as humans all stuck on this big rock together would learn how to get along..... Come back and see us..... God bless you and your family !
I'm a Canadian who lived in Texas for 13 years. When I moved back to Canada in 2007, often when making purchases, i would say that the 50 - 100% rule applies; meaning the cost would be anywhere between 50 to 100% higher in Canada. Was especially true for gas, beer, restaurants, groceries, clothes, housing... almost everything.
Not so true these days. If you take into consideration exchange most things (not all) are about the same price. Some things are cheaper, like ammo-- A LOT CHEAPER.
@@theravyshow2570 You're sure about that? How much does an average Canadian taxpayer pay for healthcare in this country? A lot of people don't know, but for the same amount, you can have a like health insurance plan in the US.
@@micaw7108 I used to work in a job where I actually saw the numbers billed to the healthcare system. People who had ongoing, debilitating diseases often only billed 2-3 thousand dollars over the course of a 3 years. These were people seeing a specialist every few weeks. The payments are not nearly as high as people thing. Anyone reading this who lives in Ontario, Canada can get a free copy of their decoded OHIP summary (aka their OHIP billings) by writing to the Ministry of Health. Just google "decoded OHIP SUMMARY request" and the address will pop up.
I remember going to Fort Lauderdale in 1977, from ontario, and it was like you stated. The southern accents we heard were very friendly and we found it easy to pick it up. To a bunch of Canadian college kids the Southern states were paradise!
I found US beer was weak, so tried something called 'Elephant beer'at a night club in San Jose. That was actually Carlsberg beer , and it was about 10% ABV, and I got completely paralytic after about 3 or 4. Terrible hangover. Not expected from drinking in San Jose!
@@ThisIsOurRetirement Yes. The bad news is I was with the boss's secretaries daughter and this did not give the right impression at all! I worked for Hewlett-Packard for a while, so had trips out to San Jose for that. For some reason I got 'let go'? Was this why??? :)
I really enjoyed this. Living in the US with the amount of gun violence and homelessness as well as difficulty affording healthcare and housing, it can get pretty depressing and I find myself often fantasizing about moving out of the country. It was nice to be reminded of the positives here. Thank you. 😊
Norm and Tina, thank you sincerely for your kind compliments about the U.S. Sometimes foreigners are critical of this great country, so it is refreshing to see you focus on some of the many fantastic things about America.
What shocked me on my first trip to England back in the Summer of 1978 was that you could go to the "chip shop" and get a big bag of "scrumps" for just 2 Pence! For those unfamiliar, scrumps are odd bits of leftover batter from fish & chips and smaller and broken pieces of chips (french fries). Sprinkled with salt and vinegar, it was absolutely scrumptious - especially to a young kid without much pocket money (allowance). Another shocker was that milk was actually delivered to your front doorstep in glass bottles. There was never a need to worry about the milk spoiling either, due to Britain's reliably cool climate. The milk was pasteurized but not homogenized, so the cream would float to the top, just under the foil cap. The high point of every morning was pouring the thick cream into my coffee... you just couldn't have a bad day when it starts off like that!
Great experiences with your visit to the US 😀. I must say congrats on your channel success! You found a great niche which you do very well. Well done, my friends 👍. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend 😀.
Thanks for watching and nice comment we just enjoy telling our stories and spending time together making them for our You Tube have a great weekend Cheers 🍺🍷🇨🇦🙂
I love your channel! As an American, your story of buying beer at a gas station reminded me of one of my first visits to Canada. I was dating a Canadian who lived in Vancouver and stopped at a grocery store to buy some beer after I got across the border. I probably circled the grocery store three times trying to find the beer section before giving up. We are now happily married and living in Victoria BC. And now I know to go to the liquor store to buy beer.
Anyway, I can really relate to your experiences, and thought I would add this, I immigrated from Denmark to the USA in 1973, and your story about buying beer at a gas station reminds me of my experience in Reno Nevada shortly after i arrived. I went into a store called Skaggs and purchased a bottle of whiskey and some tobacco, I smoked a pipe back then, and as I walked to the checkout line I noticed a gun section, and bought a 357 magnum and a box of bullets. By todays standards totally mind-blowing.
Greetings from Michigan USA! You both are so nice! 🥀🌺🌸💐 I'm so glad you both enjoyed your visit here. I found your remarks about being Patriotic very interesting. I am a proud American and I love displaying the flag.
I'm an old man in my seventies and pretty much traveled and lived all around the world. I have friends in United Kingdom, Canada, Denmark, Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Jordan, and several other countries. Business took me to many places, and cultures, all of which I loved and respected. During my travels, I always loved and missed my America, and looked forward to returning. Thank you for coming for the visit, and hope you come visit again soon. I do however find it interesting how people around the world expect one thing of My country, just to find out how much we all have in common with the rest of the people of the world.
Years ago, I think it was 1986, I worked for a large corporation here in NJ. I was part of a training group for executives. We would fly in about 40-50 executives each week from all over the world. Whenever a group of Canadians came during the US winter they would show up in shorts and tee shirts. To us, it was amazing since we were cold and temperatures outside were around 30 degrees with snow on the ground. To them it was like a heat wave. Always great fun hosting them for the week.
I was married to a Canadian. To hear her talk, all Canadians were like her. Then I visited Vancouver, Victoria, and later Toronto and London. No, they were not all like her. That was just her. The ones I met were normal people!
❤️❤️❤️ I subscribed after yall started talking. I love my country and my state, Florida. It made my heart swell to hear such kind comments. I, too had braced myself, for what was going to be said. Mostly all we hear is what is wrong with the USA and Florida. Not the truly wonderful things that make them so terrific! You two are so adorable and just so sweet and kind. Thank you! Love your shirts!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting, we want to be positive and upbeat. We grew up in the 60’s in England and watched American TV shows and we really wanted to visit America and we were not disappointed p. Let’s keep politics out of life experiences.
I have a suggestion . Something you should really do - add to your bucket list . Take the Amtrak California Zephyr from either Chicago or Denver in a Roomette or bedroom. It’s not cheap but if you book early it’s lower priced. The sleeper car ticket also includes all your meals in the dining car- very cool. The route in many cases follows the original transcontinental railroad and is the premier US scenic rail route . Worth every penny . I’m doing it a second time in October having previously in 2006.
Yes it is on our ever growing list, we saw a TH-cam about the trip it looks fantastic and there are several different options sleeper cabin layouts. Thanks for suggesting this, our other big trip idea is driving down the West Coast of the U.S. to California. Have a great weekend 🇨🇦🇺🇸
As a Canadian living within an hours drive of New York State, I love USA!!! Sucks that borders are closed due to covid19. Everything is cheaper in the US. Can’t wait to go back when the borders open. I have family in Colorado and California. Been all over the US...got married in Vegas. Had family in LA. It’s like an extension of Canada to me. Used to do multiple road trips to California back in the 80’s....think Vacation movie!!! People in US are sooo much more friendly than Canadians. Move to the USA....so much better!!
Fri, June 11, 2021 Wayne & family, come on down! Florida is open and visitors are welcome. Warning: it's very hot and humid....it's been averaging around 90 degrees Fahrenheit in central Florida. Btw, I've always found the Canadian people to be very friendly....although Victoria might be the exception. 😁
It’s so nice to hear what this friendly couple thought of their visit to the U.S. I think we Americans take a lot of things for granted, and we need to be more grateful for our country. I wish this sweet couple much more adventures, and thank them for sharing their experiences.
First, congratulations that you can retire like you wanted to! Second, thank you for making a video that said nice things about America! I love living here but we are often painted in a very bad light by our own media. I have found America to have its issues but to also be a great country to be from. This is lovely. I’m always freezing and moist in the UK! Always feels like spring or autumn. In the US, I do wish everyone had as pleasant and friendly an experience as our visitors do. A British accent will make a difference in a guests reception in the states, just as my American accent draws attention and affects my reception abroad. I wonder how much you felt, recognised or were made aware of the fact during your travels.
You are both adorable. I am from Alberta but my hubby is from the northern Ontario. It’s always interesting to see you both and how much you love to explore the world and share your experiences. Thank you! You are very good at being open minded and sharing realistic experiences.
As a Canadian, from Quebec 1 price of Gas in Canada is 50-75% taxes 2 beer and some wine has been sold in a gas station in Quebec for as long as I can remember, I am 58Yo 3 I was in Florida west coast in September and I was always in the ocean, locals were wearing ski jackets.
Such a delightful couple! I just subscribed to hear more. Always refreshing to hear nice things about one's own country. Sometimes we forget how to be delighted by the little things!
Try paying for golf in California - much more expensive. And the "wrapping" of a house is also done there - but the wrappings are usually different colored-stripes. As far as beer sold in gas stations or even other liquors, those are known as convenient stores.
Thank you for you input on my country. It’s nice to see people who keep an open mind about other countries and the culture differences. I live in Southern New Jersey about 30 mins from beaches and prices have gone up more recently but it’s amazing that within an hour or two drive i can be in 3 major cities, miles of ocean or out on my boat, beautiful farmlands or into the mountains going skiing. And the food in this area is some of the best in the country. I’m truly blessed. Make everyday an adventure ✌️
Wow what you have just said is was we are learning now with Covid restrictions that on our doorstep within 2 hours there are beautiful beaches, lakes , rolling countryside , different cultures and that life is awesome life is an adventure Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
Refreshing to hear Brits talk about the US and not complain about having to tip at restaurants. I worked with a lot of Brits and they would routinely complain about having to leave a tip, just after being shocked at how cheap the food was. That always amazed me. Thanks for the video. It was fantastic.
Thank you for your positive video about the US. I moved in 1957 to the US from Germany, where I was born before world war 2. I also think it is nice living in America.
Many yrs ago in the early 1990's , my husband and I toured through some of the states. We came from Canada too and found the experience really good too. We went through the west/Pacific states down to Las Vegas then came back up through Utah and Yellowstone National Park, into Montana and back into Canada. Ty for this vid, you brought back many good memories I had of our trip down there😊
Several years ago my wife and I went on a trip to Washington, D.C. From there we went to see Monticello. It was April the temperature was just under 60 F. We were standing with others visitors as our tour guide arrived, she asked where everyone was from. As each answered we took note of the winter garments that these folks from NY, ME, OH and other more northern States. Then when my wife and I standing there in shorts and tee shirts said Atlanta, Ga. Everyone looked at us strangely. Too which we were astonished, I mean really it was 60 F degrees. We could not understand how they could stand having so much clothing being from colder locations than us.
Lovely couple. Glad you moved to our country. The states might be cheaper than Canada but I would rather be here for the cultural tolerance and the freedom we have. So nice to get to know you better. Thanks for sharing.

*Castillo de San Marcos National Monument*
The oldest masonry fort in the USA, the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, is a must-see if you visit the area.
*Lightner Museum*
The Lightner Museum is housed in the Hotel Alcazar, which was built in 1887 in the style of Spanish Renaissance Revival.
*St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park*
You may also want to visit the St.
We have had some great trips to the USA 🇺🇸 and miss the border being closed hopefully it will open and travel will return Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
I live in Alaska; the city I live nearby inside or out of the city limits display the US flag - US military veteran.

In general, people need to experience other countries and cultures much more. This is important in order to have a better world view, and to have an appreciation for other cultures.
We too believe this, it does a couple of things, shows how good we have it in our countries and gives an appreciation of how others live. Great comment thank you.

Some great points thanks for sharing enjoy your day Cheers 🍷🌸🍺
I miss our friends and neighbours in the US. We need to get past this Covid!!
Yes we do Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
Great experiences with your visit to the US 😀. I must say congrats on your channel success! You found a great niche which you do very well. Well done, my friends 👍. Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend 😀.
Thanks for watching and nice comment we just enjoy telling our stories and spending time together making them for our You Tube have a great weekend Cheers 🍺🍷🇨🇦🙂
Great commentary. Thank you!! I have Canadians to be very kind
Our pleasure! Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
As a proud American I offer you both a very sincere thank you! My family and I are big fans of our friendly neighbors ( Canadians) to our north!
Wow, thank you! we hope you have an awesome day Cheers 🍺🍷🇺🇸🇨🇦
It's really nice to hear foreigners say nice things about Americans; so many seem to really dislike us.
Thanks we love visiting the USA 🇺🇸 Cheers 🍷🙂
Things were quite different everywhere, 30 years ago!!😄
I love your channel! As an American, your story of buying beer at a gas station reminded me of one of my first visits to Canada. I was dating a Canadian who lived in Vancouver and stopped at a grocery store to buy some beer after I got across the border. I probably circled the grocery store three times trying to find the beer section before giving up. We are now happily married and living in Victoria BC. And now I know to go to the liquor store to buy beer.
That is awesome! great love story TFS Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
Thank you for the kind words, Old Glory is hanging on the front of my house always. For the men and women who gave me the freedom to fly it.
That’s great have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦🇺🇸
Anyway, I can really relate to your experiences, and thought I would add this, I immigrated from Denmark to the USA in 1973, and your story about buying beer at a gas station reminds me of my experience in Reno Nevada shortly after i arrived. I went into a store called Skaggs and purchased a bottle of whiskey and some tobacco, I smoked a pipe back then, and as I walked to the checkout line I noticed a gun section, and bought a 357 magnum and a box of bullets. By todays standards totally mind-blowing.
Wow great story have a great weekend Cheers 🍺
That story is hysterical. Probably pre background check. Could still do it today, but you would have to wait.
@@thyslop1737 WOW, you can still buy a gun at a liquor store today ? Yes, back then there was no background check.
@@ibberman No. Can still get guns. Would be a longer wait. Not just grab and go. From a liquor store? Doubtful.
@@thyslop1737 I know, that was the whole point of my original comment.
Greetings from Michigan USA! You both are so nice! 🥀🌺🌸💐 I'm so glad you both enjoyed your visit here. I found your remarks about being Patriotic very interesting. I am a proud American and I love displaying the flag.
Thank you so much!! hope you have a wonderful day Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
I am glad you enjoyed your visit and thanks for the comments.
Our pleasure! have a great weekend Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
Thanks for sharing Cheers 🍺
Years ago, I think it was 1986, I worked for a large corporation here in NJ. I was part of a training group for executives. We would fly in about 40-50 executives each week from all over the world. Whenever a group of Canadians came during the US winter they would show up in shorts and tee shirts. To us, it was amazing since we were cold and temperatures outside were around 30 degrees with snow on the ground. To them it was like a heat wave. Always great fun hosting them for the week.
Sounds like the perfect mix of two wonderful countries 🇺🇸🇨🇦thanks for sharing your story Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
I am a native New Yorker who has lived in Myrtle Beach for 6 years. Total culture shock.
We are looking forward to the borders opening so we can RV around the USA 🇺🇸 have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍺🌺🍷
@@ThisIsOurRetirement I’ve been wanting to do that for years now that everyone’s retired no one wants to take a road trip they all want to fly

Wayne & family, come on down! Florida is open and visitors are welcome. Warning: it's very hot and humid....it's been averaging around 90 degrees Fahrenheit in central Florida.
Btw, I've always found the Canadian people to be very friendly....although Victoria might be the exception. 😁
@@patriciat7769 Actually it’s been very hot 🥵 and humid here in Canada 🇨🇦 too so we are very similar LOL 😂😂Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
Hmmmm....maybe a sunny place by the sea with a cool ocean breeze. That does sound nice!☺
It’s so nice to hear what this friendly couple thought of their visit to the U.S. I think we Americans take a lot of things for granted, and we need to be more grateful for our country. I wish this sweet couple much more adventures, and thank them for sharing their experiences.
You are right, celebrate your country
Love you’re back and forth. Hope to enjoy our retirement as much as you two!
We hope you will too, thanks for watching.
First, congratulations that you can retire like you wanted to! Second, thank you for making a video that said nice things about America! I love living here but we are often painted in a very bad light by our own media. I have found America to have its issues but to also be a great country to be from. We are friendly and we do appreciate visitors from other countries. All the best to you on your travels!
You are so welcome! we love ❤️ visiting 🇺🇸 when we can enjoy your week Cheers 🌺🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
Thank you so much for your comments. I needed to hear something positive for a change.
There is enough negative news, we want to keep it fun. Thank you.
I totally agree! These two have become like therapy for me in all this covid mess. They remind me I actually AM still proud to be Canadian and to still be here. Absolutely LOVE them!!!(and you too!!!💋💋💋)
@@deanne1671 Thank you 🍷🌺
@@ThisIsOurRetirement you two are amazing, I truly do thank you both from the bottom of my heart. Some days I just cry and cry. You two always cheer me up. Thank you for helping me get through the tough days. Thank you SO MUCH!!!!!💋💋💋
@@deanne1671 You are welcome we are all in this together 🌺
I love my country and proudly display our flag. I'm very glad you enjoyed your visit. Hope you come again and head for the inner parts of the country.
Thank you we are looking forward to future U.S. travels when the pandemic allows, have a great week.
It's always interesting to hear others perspectives on what we take for granted.
Your welcome have a great week 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
I'm getting the impression that things are overpriced in Canada and the UK.
I thought that was funny because when I went to Montreal I felt the prices of things were great due to the exchange rate.
Ha ha, yes, I had my first $ 10 beer in a Canadian restaurant. That is how they pay for all their free health care
Yes, England has very high taxes.
@@johnglue1744 That is true. You get a 20% discount on everything when you go to Canada. Plus you can drink when you are 18 and that draws the college crowds for the weekend
America is getting expensive … Gas… Groceries!
Thank you for visiting us , and we hope you come back soon! 🇺🇸❤️🙏🏻
We will as soon as the border reopens, thanks for watching 🇺🇸🇨🇦
A charming couple! I'm glad you liked our great country & appreciate all the great comments! Most of us love America, we are a diversified people, I'm originally from Greece, but grew up here since age of four, so iam very proud to be American, holding dual citizenship with where I was born. Cheers from northern California 🇺🇲🇬🇷🇺🇲🇬🇷🇺🇲🇬🇷💞💞💞
Thanks for watching we appreciate your support have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍺🇺🇸🍷🇨🇦
I loved watching this video about your thoughts of this country. I'm so glad you had a great first impression of the USA and you are welcome to come back anytime. I live in New Hampshire which is part of New England.
We only wish to share positive thoughts and stories and we have had many great visits to your country over the years. We haven’t explored New Hampshire beyond stopping at the highway liquor store for tax free booze lol. We have been to Boston several times. Have a great weekend 🇺🇸🇨🇦
My folks were winter Texans, South Padre Island. Used to visit them for a week in Feb. Temps ran between 60-75°F on avg. The water was much too cold to swim. If any one was swimming, our comment was "Must be Canadian". And everytime we asked...they were. Thanks for sharing your stories. Seeing through your eyes is refreshing.
Thanks for watching have a great week Cheers 🌺🍺🍷
So, you took the leap!! Good for you!! I hope you'll come back to see more of our wonderful Country. Now, it's 2021'and you will no longer fine prices that good. You were in the of State of South Carolina, Myrtle Beach. Americans ARE friendly. I am so glad you had such great experienes! Do come back when it's possible. You are always welcome!!
Thanks so much we have always felt welcome when we came to the 🇺🇸 USA in October 2019 we did a bus trip from Canada to Daytona Beach 🏖 it was was awesome we had a great time .We have done cruises 🚢 from Fort Lauderdale and loved it Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
Thanks for watching yes sometimes people comment on our accents some think we are 🇦🇺 Australian LOL 😂Cheers 🇺🇸🍷🇨🇦🍺
☺️👍🇺🇸 Thank you. You are both so sweet.
Our pleasure! enjoy your weekend Cheers 🍺🇺🇸🍷🇨🇦
You are both adorable. I am from Alberta but my hubby is from the northern Ontario. It’s always interesting to see you both and how much you love to explore the world and share your experiences. Thank you! You are very good at being open minded and sharing realistic experiences.
Awesome! Thank you! have a great weekend Cheers 🍺🌺🍷
As a Canadian, from Quebec
1 price of Gas in Canada is 50-75% taxes
2 beer and some wine has been sold in a gas station in Quebec for as long as I can remember, I am 58Yo
3 I was in Florida west coast in September and I was always in the ocean, locals were wearing ski jackets.
True about tax, funny about the locals wearing winter coats when we think it’s warm lol
ski jackets lol
As a resident of the Myrtle Beach area, thank you for finding the positives with the area.
You are welcome we had a great visit really nice place have a great day Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
Myrtle beach is fantastic
Such a delightful couple! I just subscribed to hear more. Always refreshing to hear nice things about one's own country. Sometimes we forget how to be delighted by the little things!
Thanks so much! 😊 and welcome to our channel 🍷🌺
You guys are a trip! It is clear that you enjoy life - bless you and stay well.
Thanks so much have a great week Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
Very funny - the part about how long a drive it was to Orlando and how short it looked on the map.
Thanks it’s a European mind set or British, that land the mass there is small!
Try paying for golf in California - much more expensive. And the "wrapping" of a house is also done there - but the wrappings are usually different colored-stripes. As far as beer sold in gas stations or even other liquors, those are known as convenient stores.
Thanks for the tips! glad you enjoyed it have a great week Cheers 🍺🇺🇸🍷🇨🇦🌺
🍻 Cheers!
Thank you for Sharon come back soon we appreciate having you
Thanks have a great week Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
Refreshing to hear Brits talk about the US and not complain about having to tip at restaurants. I worked with a lot of Brits and they would routinely complain about having to leave a tip, just after being shocked at how cheap the food was. That always amazed me. Thanks for the video. It was fantastic.
Thanks for watching we are glad you enjoyed it , hope you have a great week Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
Gift wrap of a house was my favorite. 👍
Ty for this vid, you brought back many good memories I had of our trip down there😊
That’s great glad you enjoyed it have a wonderful weekend Cheers 🍷🌺🍺
Too funny
It’s so nice to hear positive opinions about our country and our citizens from visitors ! Please visit us again !
Thanks for watching happy memorial day weekend Cheers 🍷🇺🇸🍺🇨🇦
Lovely couple. Glad you moved to our country. The states might be cheaper than Canada but I would rather be here for the cultural tolerance and the freedom we have.
So nice to get to know you better. Thanks for sharing.
