WOW!... we lived in Cumberland Street back in the 1960's in the tenaments with the big wide pavements , a Polis Boax. Across the street , there was Hardy's car showroom and for a wee treat , we all got sent to the Bedford 'picturehoose' doon Eglington Street and , sometimes , a long walk to Victoria Park past Larkfield Bus Depot. This abandoned series evoke some good memories from childhood.
Love your videos!!! They're awesome!!! i love abandoned places, i wish i could visit one like this someday! Sorry for my english, i speak spanish. regards from Montevideo, Uruguay.
That music is beautiful. It is perfect for the video, so poignant and sad to think how this place was once alive and bustling with people and commerce.
Great film.I played there too in the 40s and 50s.I remember the station in Eglinton St which has been removed.In New York a park walk has been created from an abandoned rail line.Wouldn't that be wonderful in the Gorbals (or anywhere!).
I think that would be great for the Gorbals Leeanna, the area has been slowly getting renovated as well. It would be great to see the station put to good use. I think the line there is still active but it would make an amazing restaurant or bar.
@TheRJSunday Thanks, the boarding had been broken down which was the first time I've seen it going by so we went in. It has been boarded back up now though.
@ambypee One of the boards were peeled back, we have passed by this several times and it was always sealed tight so we made the most of the opportunity.
Nice vid bud! Apparently they're talking about reopening this station because I'm sure it's on a live line (even though it's a goods line it might be made public) also if you're looking for anywhere else like this to look there's a tunnel at parkhead that goes all the way along to bridgeton was opened but you need to be seriously lucky for the door to be open! (was open last week)
Would make a very interesting conversion for a house or shop. I wonder who owns it? Pretty sure I remember Sale notices on it in the late 90s. Your thoughts?
l lived in pollockshaws rd used to play football in salsbury st which ran beneath the bridge my sisters bedroom looked in over the bridge, l also remember it active back in the sixties.
@FalconGhia Hey FalconGuia, this station was closed as part of the famous Beeching cuts which closed several public transport service to save on costs. You can read more about it by googling the beeching cuts (TH-cam won't let me post links in the comments).
@AbandonedScotland Hi, thanks, I guessed it would be something like that I will look for futher information now. Here in Argentina we have many railway facilities abandoned because in the ninetees railways went on private hands that privileged profitability over social benefits the railway services give. Thanks a lot for your information!
@zoomer1979 I don't think there is a for sale sign outside these days zoomer but I think you're right it would be an amazing place to convert ... you never know with the regeneration of the Gorbals that could happen eventually.
brings back the memories of the days where we would dog school get stoned and drunk in there, if it was a sunny day we would sit up the platform drinking crates a beer just keepin out the way, its hard to believe that was 6 years ago :( i even have a wee menchie at the end. wish i could go back man.
Do you know about the political or economical reasons why those stations were put out of service? I've found many interesting films and photos about them, but I still can't figure out why they were abandoned, wheter they resulted too little useful or if it has been a wrong decision from the government. Great material, abandoned places are always so fascinating! Greetings
Passed it many times and from the outside looks dismal. Ravages of time I guess. But the inside video you took looks fantastic. Didn't think it was that big. Wish the council would open it ot the public, after safety checks of course.
I believe they have abondoned Crossrail, because they have wasted millions on Edinburgh's trams. It's a shame because the cross rail would have benefited a lot of people.
I used to drive by their every day and wondered what it looked like inside, I 'am not disappointed , it's wonderful
Great work... all the Abandoned serie is wonderful... thanks for sharing...

@EqualityScotland It's part of the above track from Cumberland Street and a couple clips from the nearby abandoned railway line across the road.
Really cool sound, well caught pictures/moods.
Perfect marriage.

eternal support from Italy...
They've concrete blocked the station in now, and no the line isn't used but it's connected to two.
Would make a very interesting conversion for a house or shop. I wonder who owns it? Pretty sure I remember Sale notices on it in the late 90s. Your thoughts?
Cracking video mate. I took my first bucket in there!

@clydeferries That's good, I'm glad to hear your memories of the place. I always find it helps build a picture of the place hearing the memories.
@Qmann98 I think that was a support for the old bridge, there were a couple of old platforms at that point though.
passed that building many times having no idea what it was :D good video
An interesting video as always. Up where i live there are a fee beaches that are dotted with some old WW2 bunkers, and airfields.
brilliant videos
@chris40539 Not here Chris, but we've got a lot of old trains at another location that will be in a video we'll release in a few weeks :)

Just amazing! :) Love it!
@brazenhead1967 Yeah that's it, loads of people would have passed through here when it was in use, now it's just left empty. Thanks for the comment :)

@MrCastlehunter Thanks!
@neilb229 Yeah it would be good if the station could be renovated, it's an ideal location if they can get the crossrail scheme up and running.
@Cindygem Thanks again Cindy :)
The people who made these bricks, could they ever imagine this would be their destiny ...
@SuperBIGTEL Thanks for saying so :)

@neillypilot Thanks for saying so :)

@silvercatt99 Yeah I believe it was Beeching that caused the closure of the station.
super !!!!
Thanks евгений ананьев :)
@xXTeamProvoXx Haha not quite the memories I had in mind of the place but I suppose it gives an accurate reflection in all of it's uses in the past.
It's completely sealed up now. No way in.
@43lochness Thanks for saying so! :)
@martybhoy72 Yeah it was surprisingly big inside.
@callumtoenail Thanks
Interior has been cleared out to a certain extent.
@Horacechicken Thanks Horace :)
@snowfare Thanks! :)
Where is that from 4:18 onwards? That's certainly not Cumberland Street!
the railway
@@LanarkshireRailfan Says the guy who posts exciting videos such as "Class 320 arrives in Kings Park".

@aliasdeputydog Yeah it's a shame, the pricing for the calibre of the service these days is shocking. Something definitely needs to be done about it.
Absofuckinlutely fascinatin!
Sounds like John Martin
@eojbhoy67 Haha well I suppose that's one way to remember the place! :-P
