I started to serve my apprenticeship in this building (1976 - 1979) and I've recently been wishing that I'd taken photographs of the way it was. Rows and rows of double decker buses in various stages of repair, The HGV shop where I started out with trucks of various shapes and sizes (alongside "the moulder" who really did make sand moulds and manufacture frames for bus stops). Cheers
There are some beautiful moments here. Derelicts are usually interesting enough, but some like this one acquire an afterlife. You have caught its spirit just right. Just excellent.
I have watched a lot of Urb-Ex videos on youtube and yours are by far the best on the site. Your cinematography is excellent and the music you select for the locations are spot on. You really know how to capture the lonely forgotten mood. I will be looking forward to new videos you upload :)
Did you go down into the basement? One half of it looks like it's been filled in but there was an interesting room underneath the hole at 2:27 in this video.
A friend used this as a background and photographed some of his punk friends with amazing shots of mohicans, piercings, tattoos, attitude etc., as part of his portfolio. Another friend, sadly now deceased, was an industrial historian and told me that some of the ironwork is repurposed tram rails from the horse drawn tram days. There was something unique in their manufacture- they were short and may have been cast as opposed to rolled. I think one of the locations of these rails may have been on the abutments of a bridge by the railway, inserted later as strengthening.
@MrCyclist68 Yup but also it's worth pointing out that not all asbestos is harmful, it's blue and brown asbestos that you need to be careful of which are generally around roofs and pipes. White asbestos isn't any more harmful than normal dust, I'd still recommend wearing masks if you are unsure.
Hi, loved the video!! I've passed this place on the bus so many times but never really thought about whats inside. it looks amazing! i would like to check it out myself. how did you get inside because it looks locked up. did you just hop the fence :P x
Tried to go yesterday, seeing as they're building stuff they have little guard checkpoints and it is a lot harder to get into, this was a Tuesday though so weekends may be better
@TheLegoTrainStation Silent Uk is a good site, we've actually visited somewhere will a lot of old trains. I'll post up the video in a few weeks so keep watching :)
@jillameena76 The only old photos I've really seen have just been on a google search to be honest, I think the buildings have been set on fire several times unfortunately. There are some pictures online of the buildings only a few years ago which seem to have more intact.
Went in yesterday it's all fenced up now and broken you can get under ground in the left corner in the building without the chains near the train tracks real creepy tho

All done at the right pace. Well-acheived.

@paronomeister Thanks appreciate the comment, I think you're right there is still a beauty to it even in its derelict state.

@Rajtronics I did go down for a bit but unfortunately I left my torch, so didn't venture too far.
Nice explore mate
@lunny74 Thanks yeah it was just a short trip but a good wee explore.

@NEXPAR Nah this isn't the train station on Princes Street, this was a tram station that was further down Leith walk.
@johnfromedinburgh That's amazing John! I would have loved to have seen more pictures of when it was in use. Just a pity there isn't much left of it.
@Geoscot It's worth a look if you are passing by.
@Horacechicken Thanks for the comment :)

@stroma1988 There's a couple of entrances to the place, you can see them if you look around long enough :)
After the last big fire in the tunnels, they were supposed to be in danger of collapsing. I have not had a look since the fire.

I've been up the ladders and walked across the bar
Is it still standing ?
Cool place now getting turned into homes.
are you able to get inside easily because i want to take a look for myself
I've no idea what the entrance is like now hanzala, a few years ago I could just walk right in.
It's so easy to get inside but just watch out it's a bit of a junkie den so watch out for needles and people of the "unstable" kind
Brodie Logue thanks
What year would that station would have been used?
up until 1956 i believe
is this still there? hasn't been torn down has it?
Yeah this is still here.
woo! was it difficult to get inside? i fancy taking a look
I've no idea how the access to it will be now sorry but it was open to walk into when I went.
I went in it I live round the corner from it on pilrig street
I used to live around that area as well, definitely worth a wee visit :)
Abandoned Scotland :-(
Can anyone tell me if this place is still abandoned? Can I access it?
yep
@markusboyd3 Not alot, I've never made a profit from exploring if that's what you mean.
Do you get paid to show these advertisements on your videos?
@johnfromedinburgh Its a shame they didn't keep the original tram network. Then we wouldn't have to spend so much money building a new tram line!
silent uk is a good, no, very good site
