Awesome to see all the old footage. I was born in 1960, the 1st GF I remember is 1966 when Stkilda won their 1st and only. Great to see Melbourne win this year, the last time they did it was '64, which was the last time Tokyo hosted the Olympics. Nice to see if Stkilda can win their 2nd in the next few years. Though, being a Tiger's supporter loved to reminisce

Disagree. Today's commentary is usually stupid and over the top and not for the right reasons. The game use to sell itself back then. Now, it's like the commentators have to sell it to us. Earlier, yes surely they could've done it better. But it progressed, but if anything today's standard has certainly regressed.

I would say that that wasn't match commentary, it would've been narration for newsreels that were shown in the cinemas in that era. TV didn't arrive in Australia until 1956. Would've been around 1958 when TV football started to take off to any degree. Just on the commentators, I believe the commentators of the late 80s through to the mid 2000s were very good and professional. I have to say the current crop of low IQ'd cretins they have doing it now are a disgrace quite frankly. BT is a flog and peanut. JB has no credibility and the girl with the five-head on the boundary makes people's ears bleed. Luke Darcy also adds very little. Matthew Richardson has about as much personality as a mud patch.

What if Jordan McMahon of Richmond missed the kick after the siren vs Melbourne in Rd 18 2009 (This would mean that Dusty would play for Melbourne and that probably an investigation on Richmond for tanking would take place) Edit: And if true Melbourne would have 16 premierships.
I'm a melbourne supporter and honestly I think if we drafted Dusty at the time I don't think we could've kept hold of him given our club situation and culture during that period. Probably would've gone to GWS when they came knocking.

Their finals campaign was 2 loses and a a huge win, both loses were by a point… they played out of their skins and it was a great effort, but North were comfortably the overall best team that year. They easybeat Geelong and Brisbane and then beat ladder leading Sydney. Would have been interesting but I like history as it is.
Yep ! The VFL became the AFL in 1990 . The current VFL is a second tier competition with teams such as Port Melbourne and Williamstown etc formerly members of the disbanded VFA , competing against what are effectively Victorian AFL reserves teams . The VFL competition has expanded recently to include Brisbane , Gold Coast , GWS and Sydney reserves as well as stand alone clubs South Port etc . Its bloody confusing , but there you have it .
