Hello, I am a Catholic priest from Italy, and I would like to thank God for the existence of your congregation...very edifying...I am biritual and I love the byzantine rite. I will pray for all of you and please pray for my diocese of Ferrara...we desperately need vocations. God bless

@Unprofitable servant it is quite normal praxis, your bishop ask permission to the congregation of oriental churches and if (for pastoral reason) they think the biritualism could help a community…they will grant you.

But she dressed something like you in Italy and many years ago I saw her on television with a Greek church,i forget even which one, dressed like she did in Italy speaking as a nun from a Greek order. They are Uniate Nuns, they in communion with Rome.
    Our History
In January of 2008, Bishop John Kudrick outlined his vision for the foundation of a monastery in the Eparchy of Parma as a response to Pope John Paul II's call for the revitalization of Eastern Monasticism in the United States in the Pope's apostolic letter Orientale Lumen (Light of the East). We responded to that call. We were blessed with a house and property in Burton, Ohio, from the Social Mission Sisters who formerly resided there, and in the process of renovations undertaken with the help of many volunteers, we moved in on April 3, 2009. On March 29, 2010, Bishop John received our community into the eparchy. Mother Theodora was tonsured as our first stavrophore ("cross bearer"/life-professed) nun on November 20, 2011. On August 2, 2015, we were established by Bishop John as a Public Association of the Faithful. We continue to work towards full canonical establishment as a monastery.
    Our Identity
We are a Byzantine Catholic monastic community of women in the Eparchy of Parma dedicated to a vigilant life of prayer and hospitality according to the traditions of the Christian East. Laying down our lives in imitation of the Bridegroom, we joyfully embrace the monastic virtues of poverty, chastity and obedience. We participate in the dynamic love of the Trinity by sharing a life of prayer, work and recreation at our monastery. Meditating on Scripture, especially the Song of Songs, and immersing ourselves in a life of personal and liturgical prayer, we enter into a spousal relationship with Christ the Bridegroom. Looking to the Theotokos as our model, we open ourselves to the Divine life of the Holy Spirit, bearing forth fruit for the Church and the world. Our monastery provides a spiritual garden and a bridal chamber in which we draw others into this same life-giving relationship with Christ the Bridegroom.
The Icon of Christ the Bridegroom
The icon of Christ the Bridegroom portrays the selfless love of Christ for His Bride, the Church (Isaiah 54). He is dressed in royal colors as the betrothed King, corresponding with Sacred Scripture’s account of His mockery by the Roman guards before His crucifixion. The crown is a symbol of His marriage to the Church; the rope, a symbol of the bondage to sin, death and corruption which Jesus untied by His death on the Cross; the reed, a symbol of His humility.

    • @rubyredshine

Hey there, the most common form of Catholicism is the Roman rite. A rite is basically a set of cultural and liturgical practices that still all fall under the term of catholicism which means they are in the universal church. They appear like eastern orthodox nuns because Christ the Bridegroom monastery is actually a Byzantine Rite Catholic monstery. So it's a Catholic monastery but within the byzantine or eastern rite. Hope this helps!

In this contest poustina - hermitage (religious retreat). A hermitage most authentically refers to a place where a hermit lives in seclusion from the world, or a building or settlement where a person or a group of people lived religiously, in seclusion. Particularly as a name or part of the name of properties its meaning is often imprecise, harking to a distant period of local history, components of the building material, or recalling any former sanctuary or holy place. Secondary churches or establishments run from a monastery were often called "hermitages".

These dear religious are living the spirituality that will make them Saints. It is a bit sad that they are feeding their souls with a reformed Byzantine liturgy and not the original. So many of the venerable eastern rites have come to America and adopted the vernacular and modern reforms. The original sacred languages are intrinsic to the rites and the culture that Holy Church wishes to preserve and protect.

Didn't Jesus said there are people who can marry, there are people who can't get married since their birth, there are people who don't want to get married based on their own willingness?
Marriage is biblical, so is not getting married. As long as you give yourself to God, married or not, it's biblical.

Saint Paul like the apostle who gave every bit of himself to the growing of Christ's church said in his epistle to the Corinthians, I would love if you remain single like me so the you can serve God unhindered. He added it is better to get married than to burn with desire.

My Guy Jesus says there have been those who have made them selves eunuchs for my love's sake, (which mens they remained virgins) and Paul when writing to the corinthians about marriage says its better for people to stay how they are and not marry, marriage is a holy gift of God but some choose chastity for Jesus's love's sake.
