- Unboxing the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE, a more budget-friendly Fan Edition of the pricey Sammy tablet, with a hands-on review of the gaming chops, plus multi-tasking and more. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE starts from £449 in the UK, so almost half price! Plus you get that S Pen stylus bundled in the box.
One of the major downgrades is the performance, with an Exynos chipset replacing that Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Thankfully this doesn't impact the everyday experience much. You can still game on Genshin Impact on the Galaxy Tab S9 FE. However, you'll want to lower the graphics settings on this Fan Edition for a proper smooth frame rate.
The Samsung Tab S9 FE also scraps that gorgeous OLED screen, replacing it with a more basic IPS display. Grab the Plus model and it's even bigger. Contrast isn't as sharp and there's no HDR support, but it's still quite bright, poppy and sharp. However, this Galaxy tablet offers a slimmed-down version of DEX, and you'll still need to pay extra for that Book keyboard cover.

Had it now for almost a week for uni and i must say, im glad i didn go for the ipad 10th gen. It has everything i need for uni for lower price than the ipad and reasonably fast enough for genshin as well. Buold quality is amazing and the s pen is amazing as well. Considering that this is my first ever tablet for productivity and minimal gaming, it's so good.
I just purchased the FE+. Hoping for a similar genshin experience.
My reasons for getting a tablet are watching media, drawing and reading manga(in that order). Does genshin run 60fps even?

Samsung tablets still have a huge advantage with the ecosystem of OneUi. The Samsung phones and tablets are super-connected so transfering takes place instantly which is great. For a teacher like me, this tablet and S23 serve me perfectly.

@@elfindahouseFor the purposes u mentioned, the tablet is good. If u want high processing bump it up to s8. Else, this is really good enuf.
@@elfindahouse I personally think the S9 FE will do the job. As a student, these tasks aren't too demanding so the S9 FE will handle them well. You would only want the S9 FE+ if you are looking for a bigger display, an extra rear camera (which for me isn't something I will look out for since I don't take pictures using my tablet), and better battery life. If not, I will stick with the S9 FE.

Fun fact: In Brazil we get the charger in the box! The launch promo of receiving the case and Buds FE couldn't be better. Bought mine last week and I am very excited to get my hands on this tablet!

I have no complaints, friend. Yesterday was my birthday, and I treated myself to it at 1/2 off, just 20$ for service. I am debating if it looks better than my Galaxy S6 4g. I don't see myself paying over a thousand for a tablet. I'd Ratner by a Tv LOL 😅. Good Deal T=Mobile .

A thing to note for those who don't know. The SPen Does Not Need to be Charged to Used.
The SPens for the regular Tab S9 series have added Bluetooth features that turns your SPen into a magic wand remote control which does need a battery charge to use But, those Bluetooth features are not available on the FE devices, hence the lack of a battery in the pen and the lack of a need to charge said pen either.

Imagine the money that could be saved by not putting a rear camera on tablets.
It'd be interesting to compare this to the Pixel tablet. They're around the same price and have similar specs.

Samsung has 4 OS updates and 5 years of security updates. Lenovo and Xiaomi updates are at their discretion... Having used xiaomi for a decade, I've switched to samsung without regrets. My lenovo y700 is stuck at android 12. See what you need and choose accordingly.
To be fair, Motorola flagships are 'officially' 3 OS upgrades, 4 years of security, no guarantees though, they have a rough history. Also working my way towards Samsung devices, coming from Motorola/Lenovo ones as their security updates have been terrible, like 3 for my Edge 40 pro in a year (despite monthly updates being promised initially) and their customer service is terrible (just look on their support forums). Have ordered the y700 2023, but that is only because there are no other powerful android tablets at that size and the price was quite sharp. Wanted something small, yet powerful, for use in bed. Also a nice size to double as an e-reader.
Just Purchased one with the Samsung offer for the Book 4 Pro 360 and looking forward to comparing to my current S8 Ultra

The question I would like to ask to everyone if I may. Which one is better? This one or the Oneplus pad? I am looking for a tablet and am not sure which one would be better. A huge factor for me is the speakers because I like really good audio. So much so that I am attempting to sell my Google Pixel tablet as it has terrible speakers.

If speaker is ur only concern, then it's oneplus. But for OS, ui, software features, stylus features. I will go for s9fe.
Samsung tablets are known for their good speakers so I would say you would miss out so much if you were to choose OnePlus. I might have hesitated if OnePlus were to have more experience in tablets but theirs one is the first gen so I don't expect much.
I think Samsung offers a good deal with the S pen included the S pen is a great deal to me even if I don't use much.

@@Riz_ Oh my, yeah. That might add up to it. For me, who likes media consumption and note taking Samsung is a must. I am using One Plus phone right now. I don't like its restricted one-handed user interface and its notification layout.
The only thing I don't understand about Samsung tablets,you can only get sim card enabled tab with a cell phone company,they only have it sim enabled tabs with the smaller memory. Not sure about the ones they sell overseas but in The USA, that's what they do. While Apple you can buy unlocked Ipads right from Apple alway up to 2 t memory.

How about the screen sharinig/ presentation capabilities? I have tried over wifi but it is too laggy. Since you cannot use Usb-C as an output, what other reliable options are there?

Rear cameras on tablets are useful for taking photos of documents or quickly showing people stuff on Zoom calls for example. Not sure why a lot of reviewers always have to make a joke about it
I don't mind them putting cameras on the rear, but the main camera use case for a tablet is video calls, so they should be putting the highest quality camera on the front, not the rear...
Ideal for a child's tablet and perhaps a "meeting notebook" / netflix on the train. Would much prefer if it came with Qualcomm silicone but it'll do to replace my boys Lenovo thingy that's as consistent and coherent as potaoe Joe.

I think it really depends on how much you use the pen and what sorta screen protector you've got. The paperlike or matte style protectors provide maybe a better drawing experience, at the cost of nibs and the screen protectors getting worn out faster and also the viewing experience.

Very nice tablet, but it drains its battery rather fast in standby mode when not in use, even with flight mode on. Hopefully a firmware update will fix that ( are you listening Samsung?)

See this is an real review. In this day and age where your naked eye can barely keep up without side by side comparisons why would we need pay a premium when most of us dont game on tablets and most of us only use tablets for watching media such as netflix. If you not working on the tablet then dont waste the money on the s9 or ultra. Fe is fine for most.

I can promise you a lot of people will notice that watching movies will suck on it. I had a tab s8 i decided to sell because the display was so awful
even i pads don't have oled screens to be fair... but anyway, just dont buy the full price and look for a good deal, im buying mine new for 340€ for the 256gb model with cover included

It's interesting, that the cheaper FE-Tabs get a decent capacitive fingerprint sensor, while the regular S9 has a garbage optical sensor.

Here across the pond the Tab S9 Fe is only about 250 euro cheaper, so not a very good deal with all the things you lose, especially that gorgeous Amoled screen that's replaced by a mundane LCD
The fact that this cannot connect to an external display is a dealbreaker for me as i travel and connect to TVs via hdmi all the time when i travel

I am more than happy with my Xiaomi Pad 6 in comparison for almost £100 less. The only thing is wish the Xiaomi Pad 6 had that the S9FE has is SD card support.

The SD 870 in the Xiaomi Pad 6 still performs better than the Exynos 1380 in the Tab S9 FE. If you want performance, import a Pad 6 Pro, or grab a Oneplus Pad if you don't want to import from China.
I have the s7plus 5g and traded it because it's too big. The s9 fe is more portable. I use it I'm the car for streaming.

both are good but the software update commitment from samsung is superb, if you want your xiaomi device updated every 3 to 6 months then go for it
