I attended this show and we were seated right in front of one of the PBS camera crews down front, and John came bopping down the steps about an hour before the show was scheduled to start. He stopped to talk to the camera crew and surrounding concert goers. Laughed, joked, shook people's hands, and was so very down to earth. I was not a fan of his per se when I went with some friends for a 4th of July weekend camping trip and a concert at Red Rocks. I sure was a fan after the concert for sure. He was a wonderful performer who was a pretty wonderful human being in general, and that is a pretty rare thing to see in a "famous singer" who went out of his way to be truly decent, and not because he had to, but because he felt like his fans deserved it from him. One of the best I have ever seen, and I have seen a show or two in my day. A fellow country boy.

I saw him the same year in London, U.K. it was my first concert too and unfortunately life got in the way of attending other concerts. I was 39 when he left this Earth but his music has and always will be a part of my life. I have attended a few of the Aspen in October gatherings. I have been blessed with seeing the incredibly beautiful Rockies and most of Colorado. You can see how his music was inspired. I am sure he would have had much more to give us if he hadn’t been taken so soon. Very sad.

I just came across this video. I was actually at this concert. Best damn concert I ever went to. Nobody wanted it to end. Thank you John for a memory I will always have and love.

I've lived for most of my life in and around the Denver area, with Red Rocks in easy driving distance. My high school graduation was there, and I've been there for multiple other shows and events. I was, unfortunately, only about seven months old at the time of this concert, but if I had a list of "things I will never get to do but really wish I could," seeing John Denver play Red Rocks would be at or very near the top of the list.

WOW I can hear the true emotion of this heartfelt singer in every verse.
"Be patient with one another and pray for Peace" is what he said at the end of this concert! That's a message that rings true for all of time and all of mankind!

KATHLEEN WEIDENBACHER; J. Denver occupies a vast part of the memories of my early 20's when I needed great comfort. His voice and guitar were companions. What a gifted artist and so very generous.🎶❤

I met him at this concert and his genuine humanity just radiated off of him as he went through the crowd at Red Rocks and he stopped to talk to the PBS camera crew in the row behind us right on the aisle. He shook hands and smiled and was there amongst the audience by his own choice, and it just shone all around him. Energy or aura, or whatever you want to call it, this man was the real deal, and it was very evident. He carried the light and just being around him was a joy. So glad that Colorado PBS got this performance on tape for future generations to enjoy. Years later I lived 5 minutes from Red Rocks park and would take my daughter there and tell her stories about musicians I had seen on that stage. She would stand and sing her heart out on that same stage to an audience of just one.

@@williamadams4044 We were also at the concert. It was great....He played for over an hour in the afternoon just cause people were already sitting there waiting for the concert. Greatly miss him and continue to love his music.

Yes, I learned that at this show when John Denver walked up to me and smiled shook my hand, and asked me how my day was going. He greeted all those in the area where the PBS camera crew were set up, and he was very genuine and friendly to us all. I liked his music before that concert, but I was a fan of the performer and the real human being that he was, on or off stage, afterwards.
