- This is probably the 4th attempt at recording this song. I don't know what my problem is. Sigh. This one's sound is not quite right, either - the new mic-to-phone jack is great, but sensitive!
So, major nerd confession. Back in the 90's, I was heavily involved in an online role-playing game based on the White Wolf system's World of Darkness on American Online (AOL). This was all text-based, and I spent a lot of quality time being creative and crafting stories with other online gamers. We played vampires, werewolves, mages, etc. - all set in the modern day in a made up city dubbed Rhydin, hanging around a supernatural-friendly bar called "The Masquerade". My character, Ontawauk LeRue (a half-French/half-Algonquin vampire who hailed from the early colonial days) fell in love with an Irish vampire named Bansiedh McCarroll. We were of the Gangrel clan of vampires, so we could turn into wolves. This comes up in the song, so I thought I oughta explain. This is their song. I think you'll like it.
NERD!
Song for Bandseidh
By James Burkey
Em D
In my wildest imaginations, I picture you in the mist
Em D
Of an early moonrise in a forest of tall pine
C D
And you are silent as the wind rushing through the grass
C Em
Part of some grand design
I watch you from the shoreline of a mountain stream
That trickles like quicksilver from melting snows on high
Welcoming your presence with a smile and a laugh
Or perhaps a quiet sigh
D C Em
We laugh and dance and smile wordlessly
D C Em
As we meet each other halfway across the meltwater flow
D C Em
And as the moon zeniths we climb the mountain
D C Em
And sing our love to the valley below
From this high vantage we can see the world
And all the places civilization has grown strong
We turn our backs to it all
Knowing here, together, we belong
The mountain embraces us to its breast
And we come to live our lifetimes there
Two wolves howling to the moon
Of the love that they share
This would be right up Aunt Diane's delight! Mine too! Thanks...
