Davenport did play well here in Wimbledon in 1999. But she also deserved to win the title here in 2005. Iam not sure about her chance in 2000 but 2005 was her best chance to add to her tally

she really blew that one in 2005 with all those errors at critical points which gave venus an advantage. also davenport lacked the mental aspect required to push through in tough moments. its not talked about often but its why most champions turn things around. serena was one of the best at it.

Venus outplayed her that's why she lost, Venus was dealing with trying to get equal prize money for the women, yet still was able to focus enough in the final, especially after the first set, credit to LD who often got negative in finals, her loss to Serena that same year at the AO showed that, but she played strong from beginning to end and was a match point a way from winning but Venus showed grit and determination.

@@maximilian2974it was 4-1 in the US Open final not 5-0. In the 2000 Wimbledon final she definitely had an injury which hampered her movement - not sure about the cold. Venus also had a calf strain but she was one of the best at pretending she wasn’t injured and disguising it, whereas I think injuries is actually the main thing that caused Lindsay’s moodiness. Even in the 2005 final she injured her back in the third set which kept her out for most of the rest of the summer.

Davenport did so well to handle all of Steffi’s low bouncing slices in this match. On paper Steffi should have been a big favorite but Lindsay actually seemed to like the matchup vs Steffi and beat her a number of times in fact 6 of 14 times they played. That’s pretty impressive!

Steffi Graf 's very tough Venus match also forced him to face Lucic in the semifinals . Two or three sets of long matches put Graf in a difficult position in front of Davenport . Because Davenport came to the finals without any difficulty. With the advantage of his height, he made very effective serves in grass court matches. However, a month ago at Roland Garros, Graf had easily defeated Davenport. Davenport's serve and forehands were ineffective on the dirt ground. Graf's backhand slice have been very effective.M andatory rain breaks were also effective in this defeat. Graf could not find rhythm. Service could not break.
