    That shot from above, where Batman has the flare in his hand, leading people to safety, was incredible. To me, it symbolizes how depressing, corrupt, and dark Gotham is and Batman being that single burning beacon of light that people can follow for hope of a better future.

    @22:00 I've been calling this the Baptism of Batman.
    He sacrifices himself and gets shocked, probably stopping his heart momentarily thus being "dead" when he hits the water.
    When he rises the first thing he does is not out of Vengeance but Hope.
    He becomes Gothams Savior.

    23:26 Don't know if you notice but this is a parallel to the first scene where Batman saves someone but the victim just say: Please, don't hurt me.
    Compare that to this scene, where she doesn't want to let go of Batman, because she feels secure with him.

    I love how the dynamic between Batman and Riddler changes in the Arkham scene. First Batman thinks that Riddler knows his identity, so Riddler is in a position of power. Then Batman realizes that Riddler doesnt know and he starts to insult him, feeling in control. And in the last moments, Riddler realizes that Batman doesnt know shit about his grand plan and starts to gloat.

    This is why Matt Reeves’ Batman is one of the GOATs.

      I'm not sure, I think Riddler does know who he is but just like himself considers Batman and Bruce to be two different people in the same body, in my eyes that makes the phrase "I'm looking at the real you right now" make sense and creates an interesting dynamic between them.
      They both hide in plain sight by not wearing masks in public and are their "real selves" when they are wearing their masks

    At the end of this movie Batman is NOT vengeance any more.
    That is part of what makes this film such a great story.
    And it is no coincidence Gotham begins to love Batman, just as he himself falls in love, and someone falls in love with him.

      Batman is still going to continue his war on crime he's just going to actually try to save people now (not that he hasn't been doing that already) but the movie makes it clear that he's been inflicting fear not just into criminals but also normal everyday people too along with inspiring criminals to up their anty because of the crazy stuff he's doing.
      That's why him wanting to kind of change his goals and to be more friendly towards people works so well.

    So I got some trivia about Batman:
    -The film takes inspiration from Frank Miller's Batman Year One and Tim Sale's/Jeff Loeb's Long Halloween/Dark Victory/When in Rome, in which Selina Kyle (Catwoman) is Carmine Falcone's daughter (although ultimately unconfirmed by her by the end of Dark Victory's conclusion) and the one responsible for the iconic scratch on his face (Year One).
    -Edward Elliot is an allusion to the modern Batman villain Hush, Thomas "Tommy" Elliot, a formerly renowned surgeon and the childhood friend of Bruce Wayne. His whole deal is that he hates Bruce Wayne because he envies the things he became; the things the attempted to become himself when he tried to kill his parents only to succeed partially. This hatred was only fueled when he discovered that Bruce is Batman. As best put by Scarecrow in the song "Hush, Little Baby" from which Elliot's name is derived from as a joke, Hush is boy who is forever discontent with what he has. In the Hush movie adaptation, Tommy was replaced with Riddler which I absolutely hated because Hush is one of my favorite villains and it is a complete betrayal of who he is as a character.
    -The Riddler is a villain who was introduced sometime in between the Golden and Silver Age of comics. In his first outing, he was a man who scammed people out of their money at carnivals (and somehow got super loaded) and then tried his talents at something bigger as The Riddler. Future comics have since expanded on his backstory. In one iteration, The Riddler was abused by his father for cheating on a puzzle when he really did solve it on his own. In another, he actually did cheat but protested it when he was beaten. While I personally prefer the former version, both do a good job of explaining The Riddler's arrogance and compulsion to prove he's the smartest man in the room.
    -In spite of being one of Batman's most iconic rogue's gallery, The Riddler has often bounced from an A-list and C-list villain with him usually not being taken too seriously. This doesn't mean that he isn't a threat however as he has crossed serious territories like in his appearance in Peter Milligan's Batman Dark Knight, Dark City and Zero Year, just to name a couple that come to mind.
    -The Riddler's name is Edward Nygma (as in "enigma") but it has changed to Edward Nashton with Edward Nygma being a pseudonym. I don't remember if that was retconned later though but other media have just kept The Riddler as Nygma for the sake of simplicity.
    -Barry Keoghan played the Joker. He had an extra scene but it was ultimately cut out. In it, he played a role similar to Calendar Man, or for those who are unfamiliar with The Long Halloween comic, Hannibal Lecter from Red Dragon and Silence of the Lambs.

    • @darkwyve
      @darkwyve 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've told all my friends that watched The Batman that clearly the villain was structured after Hush, but since almost no one that doesn't read the comics have any idea who Hush is, and even people that have never read comics know who The Riddler is, that's why they basically merged elements of the two and called him Riddler in The Batman. To be fair, this is nothing new in movies, which merge multiple characters from stories they've taken from other mediums all of the time.
      Also as many have mentioned, the style and structure of The Riddler in this movie has elements of the Zodiac Killer, and multiple other real life serial killers and personally I think Paul Dano killed it (pun intended) in the role.

The part when he carries that survivor to get evacuated, she holds onto him because to her, being around batman is the safest she could be. Compared to the opening scene when even after saving the guy in the train station, he's afraid of vengeance although he helped him.

    I really appreciate your content for this movie because I watched it twice with my older brother Steven last month for his birthday 🎂🎉. I think it'll do well box office wise besides it's a fun movie really like the rainy, dirty and dingey Gotham City look that the director has because it's LITERALLY FROM THE COMICS. Robert Pattinson was an awesome Batman/Bruce Wayne showing how psychologically compromised he is proving that he is a very good actor despite Twilight BS. I think people are forgetting that Batman is a crazy depressed and borderline nutcase sociopathic individual just one bad day away from commiting the same crimes as criminals he puts away. I mean this is a guy with his dead parents fortune who's beating criminals to a bloody bone broken mess in his prime years devoting his vast resources, abilities, genius intellect and Time training child soldiers in spandex how to take revenge for their parents or family members being killed in the same way his was so if course he's crazy and unhinged. Riddler's going to be awesome and Collin Farrell looks completely unrecognizable as Penguin regardless that makeup team deserves a raise ASAP 😅👏. This has nothing to do with the video topic so please listen if you want to otherwise leave it alone and ignore it. Hello my name is Justin and I'm a Christian and Apologist but I'm also a college student. I'm not a closed minded Theist as I have nothing against Atheists or unbelievers as I speak to them often to understand their reasons for unbelief but we as Christians are convinced of God's Existence due to many real factors). I'm not trying to convert anyone or convince anyone to become Christians as that's The Holy Spirit's job to help people believe but only explain why I believe in Jesus Christ. There's actually evidence of God's Existence in Christianity. First of all there's proof that Jesus of Nazareth existed in history since the writings of Tacitus, Josephus Flavius, Pliny the younger and other historical documents prove that He was living two thousand years ago that even scholars both religious and Atheists agree with historically speaking but not that He's The Divine Son of God because obviously they don't.
    I'm going to give you historical and archeological evidence for God's Existence as The Scriptures have prophecies that predate the events recorded in them by several millennia including Matthew, Hosea and Zechariah which prophesy accurately of the people of Israel becoming a nation again after over 1900 years of being scattered around the nations since the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. spoken of by Christ in Matthew 23:29-24:3 and returning to their homeland after The Holocaust with Jerusalem as their capital in 1948 exactly as Jesus The Christ said. The prophets including Daniel spoke of the time where several world empires would arise and fall including the Babylonian kingdom, Medes and Persians, Roman Empire, and Saladin and the Muslims which went in consecutive order for the past few millennia. The people of Israel becoming a nation after The Holocaust in 1948 (ironically the melting point of gold as God compares Israel to gold that's tested in fire in Zechariah 13:8 and Jeremiah 16:15) exactly how Jesus The Christ said would happen since God us everything to come in The Scriptures and not just because people were working towards as Atheists claim which are impossible for any regular man to predict.
    Just before anyone says Christianity is a white man's religion made to oppress blacks during slavery you obviously aren't aware that the first Christians were Jews in The Middle East and that Christianity just like any religion can be used by evil and corrupt people to oppress others but you forget that the first Abolitionists/Civil Rights activists were Christians who sought to abolish slavery, racism, segregation, injustice and prejudice throughout American history. Jesus The Christ loves you enough not to give you what we all deserve which is God's Wrath by His Own Blood. Charles Darwin didn't originally come up with The Theory of Evolution over 200 years ago as it is mentioned in the writings of Ancient Greeks who believed in Demons that gave knowledge to philosophers.
    Evolution makes no sense when nothing has evolved after thousands of years of human history and supposedly the first creature came from primordial sludge several millions of years
    ago funny how they won't believe that God an Eternal Almighty Spirit Being created us from the Earth) which came from a supermassive expansion of matter at high temperature that inexplicably created everything in the known universe that supposedly came from nothing billions of years ago. How did the organs evolve before there were bones, skin, substance and how did any creatures see before eyes evolved? I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" I've studied evolution and abiogenesis in the past and read Darwin's " Origin of The Species" and I'm not convinced of but not macro or micro Evolution because there's no evidence of it nor clear observable examples of it where living creatures evolve into other kinds of species plus the fact that fossils don't show evidence of evolution and genetic entropy rules out evolution. The question begs how did two genders evolve from a common ancestor with a perfectly hospitable and sustainable environment with breathable oxygen and resources to survive on inexplicably? Atheists have the burden of proof to explain how everything came to be and why our existence is possible without the Existence of God from an godless perspective just as Christians have to provide evidence of God's Existence and the validity of His Word.
    Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. I don't mean this is any condescending manner but if you'd like to discuss The Scriptures with me or have me listen to your view on anything my instagram account is Savage Christian Kombatant.

    Alfred literally takes a bomb meant for him and the first thing Bruce can do is accuse him of lying? This movie really makes Bruce Wayne super unlikable without any of the charm or nuance of other portrayals. I know when the movie has this dark tone, levity and charm are not important, but it gets pretty hard to root for Batman in this movie.

    • @devin6079
      @devin6079 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bc he was lying lol and it’s about the death of his parents so it’s understandable, at least he let Alfred explain himself and the conflict was resolved right then and there

    • @Landwehr900
      @Landwehr900 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@devin6079 Then what purpose did the scene hold, other than to immediately refute what should have been a bombshell realization that batman spent all of 5 minutes grappling with? A big problem with this movie is how many times they stepped up to the line of doing something really interesting before stepping right back. The "corrupt Thomas Wayne" reveal was one of the big offenders. They should have committed to either continuing that thread and resolving it later in the movie, or not muddying the plot with it at all. A conflict of that magnitude based on a lie being resolved so quickly doesn;t make for good storytelling.
