    17th March St. Patrick's Day. You were correct the 1st time.
    The teachers and lecturers must wish they had command of thousands of children as Kevin Hines did on this day. AMAZING! Love his tireless work in saving lives.
    Well done naming your racist bullies.

      @Kevin Hines I am sorry to say, you don't know me and we've never met. Your story in the piece to camera, that you did in the DUPONT documentary, The Bridge, left me with the inexplicable feeling that you are someone very special indeed. Since then, the more I watch you and listen to the things you say, I feel that God saved your precious life and sent you here to save others. .Just as Jesus Christ did. I'm serious and definitely not a religeous zealot or delusional. As to the date.... You told the schoolkids that it was St. Patrick's day....17th of March.
      I do hope that I didn't alarm you in any way. #BeHereTomorrow

      She was just released from the psych ward this month & has actually been trying instead of giving up, cutting, or stealing Tylenol/Motrin to overdose on. That’s what landed her in the hospital. We’re from the Bay Area too.

      @@Im6yrsOldBeNice2Me I just happened to find this comment and wanted to reach out. I feel for you, you have been on some hard roads. One of my kids dealt with mental illness and if started early. From 13 to 17 she was hospitalized 6 times with one stint in a residential unit for 7 months. She was on multiple different meds which I did not know at the time were not recommended for use in children under the age of 18. Most every time she went to the hospital, she would tell me, she needed to go. Only a couple times I took her there as it was recommended.
      Mental illness in adults is hard enough. Mental illness for a child can be even worse as they do not know or understand oftentimes what is going on.
      My best wishes to you and to your daughter. Hang in there ❤️🙏🏻

      I hope this year finds you better than the last. You are still young and have lots to live for. I have a daughter who is older than you and started with depression/anxiety at an early age. I have it myself, it runs in my family.
      I don't know your circumstances but remember this: sometimes you gotta take it minute by minute instead of day by day. I know that may sound cliche but it's true. I'm glad you recognize that it will cause a lifetime of pain if you make that choice. I've been on both sides. My father committed suicide when I was 25 years old, just when we were getting to have a good relationship again after many many years. I've had other suicides of people close to me and lost friends, family members to unexpected deaths. Been through a lot of stuff as I'm sure you have too. Please don't ever forget that your family and friends love you. I've also been the person that's tried too. I am close to 5 months of being out of the hospital & having one foot in death's door. It turned my life around and I saw first hand the pain I could have left behind as well. I still have hard days and struggle too. You likely will too. But your life is worth living even at it's hardest. Much love to you, my dear. Keep on hanging in there ❤️

    • @KevinHines
      @KevinHines  5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I recognize and acknowledge them then I remind myself that they are real to me but in a distorted reality and in that reality they cannot hurt me. That I’m safe from them and if they are trying to hurt me, I make sure to appose them, saying aloud “you cannot hurt me and I will not listen to you(them)

    I volunteered at one of them yesterday as support for any student who needed an ear. You did a good job. I've heard your story the first time during a youth mental health training and it actually compelled me to check up on a veteran friend of mine while I was watching your story on the screen during it. He has bipolar as well and is always hard to get in touch with when you contact him. Surprisingly, a week later he contacted me and he was in serious crisis and I tended to him through the horrors of that. Long story short, he's doing much better now and is in school. But I have to contact him again. When we don't hear from him, it always gets worrying. Question: Have you done outreach for active duty and veteran population, specifically on military bases or veteran organizations/hospitals? As a former military brat and caregiver of a disabled veteran, that's one of the main demographics I do a lot of outreach through music programs and performance. There is such a big need and I know you have a powerful impact. If you already have since you have a connection, that's awesome too. 🙂

    Hello Kevin, you were in Sedro-Woolley HS today and you said, if we write you here, you would response, so I'm just gonna try.
    You talked a lot about that everyone is loved and worthy and has a purpose. I know that this is right for every person, but I feel like this doesn't apply to me. I feel so worthless, useless, helpless etc. I feel like no one would understand me nor take me serious if I would talk to them about my suicidal thoughts.
    I just think that these people would tell me that I am loved and so on, but the problem is, that I will never belief it, no matter how many people would say that.
