I was always nervous to wear lolita fashion as I'm a south asian, which means darker skin tone. I always felt that people might make fun of me for trying to wear pastel clothing when my skin tone is darker. The problem with tropical countries is that you would sweat a lot in a dress like that. I live in the caribbean and i like lolita but that's the problem for me :(
I’m also south asian, but I happen to be a lot paler in comparison to other people from my country. However I still have colored skin, and I found that light purples have always worked for me. :)

I hate how lolita fashion gets a bad rep, mostly because of the name. It's such a beautiful and cute style, and there are so many sub-genres in the style. Classic, sweet, gothic, hime, and many more. I think anyone can pull it off, no matter their ethnicity. I'm mixed and I own one lolita dress, but I plan on putting a full cord together soon.

It's funny bc lighter colors fit darker skins. And the sweeter outfits (pastel) look better on darker skin.
