@FoundSheep-AN not if you do it right. There are many ways one can express themselves in this style. I was taught by professional mua when I modeled almost 30 years ago. I'm not as heavy-handed as I was in my 20s, but I can still rock this look.
Too many people have gone overboard with thick brows and they look unnatural and unflattering. If you go with what's fashionable, bear in mind what actually suits your face.
I am on board with all trends except #10 Thins Brows 😬 Personally I just got them to grow out these past years lol 😂 no way am I now going to erase all the gained eyebrow hair that took forever, I will be sticking with my fluffy brows sorry not sorry 🤷🏻♀️
lol same! I managed to grow out mine during the shut down of Covid. It wasn’t so hard to grow it out then cos there were no beauty businesses available to shape my eyebrows regularly anyway. So I wasn’t left with much of a choice except to grow it out. I’m kind of happy with the brows I have now which is so much fuller so I’m not gonna go running on that track again. Hahaha! But I agree, I am on board for all the other trends. 🤩
I’m not sure there are trends for over 50. Not that I’ve come across. Unless you include recommendations for foundation/concealer for older skin. I think many trends exist in the Instagram world, which is not my world.
For older wearers just think the trend but subtle . Only the very young can pull off the extremes ( like a ton of bright eye colour etc, I lived the 70s ,lol. ) without looking silly, but older women can still follow trends with subtlety. And yep I’m 66 and move with the makeup trends all the time.
Ok. So out of all these trends the only ones I can envision myself indulging would be the lip jellies or the cheek mousse/balm. Marlena, would love to see you do a few tutorials with these trends.

I have big bushy unruly Iranian brows. All through my late teens and twenties I got them threaded. Then in my late thirties thanks to lockdown I stopped and now I'm so relieved to rock them as they are. Please GOD no thin brow trend!! 😅
I have thick brows too, but it's more about an ethereal soft finish rather than plain sperm shaped brows, for example, i usually just pluck the ends of my brows and apply a little bit of definition below. Another tip is to bleach them a little just to make the color softer.
I'm working as a translator in korea for foreign people who come to Korea for their "beauty trip." And definitely I feel the korean makeup style, like jelly lips or gradient lips and cloudy skin/cheeks like mentioned, is getting big and also the personal color analysis!!

I have sparse brows that I fill in and I’ve never been a fan of hairy bushy brows or razor thin. Never been a fan of heavy foundation or baking. I have never followed treads and never will. I do makeup looks that I feel work for me.

It was so thick and sturdy you could apply it Monday and wear it for the whole work week! (And none of the cleansers worked that well on it, so even if you did try to wash it off every night, you still destroyed your pillowcase!)
Same!! I’ve actually never been into the fluffy thick eyebrows because they personally don’t work for me…MK is all about finding balance in your personal features and I find thinner brows work better on my features than when I attempted thick eyebrows 😂

Im all for the cream compact foundation. My go to was the Covergirl Compact cream foundation. Im older now, but curious to know how it would look. I have pretty nice skin at 72. Infont look my age. Im also in for a bit of glitter, colofull mascara, cresm blushes. I likr my eyebrows how they look now. Always natural. I never plucked them. I just fill them. ❤😊
A lot of your predictions for trends might look good on people in their 20s but anyone 35 or over doesn’t look good in grunge in my opinion. Too heavy of a makeup look to pull off well. Make up is fun and I think everyone should do what they like on them and not worry so much about trends.
I'm 53 and love the grunge makeup on my face. I think it depends on the individual. I don't overdo it. It's tastefully done (as much as can be with grunge) and I LOVE IT!
You should try it! I am 40 and i can't seem to go back to black because coloured mascara can really complete a look. I love pairing reddish eyeshadows with dark green lashes, and it just WORKS
I'm 57 and occasionally wear the L'oreal green mascara. Funny thing is you can't tell it's green, but people comment on my "beautiful green eyes" when I wear it. My eyes are hazel, but the mascara makes them look green. 😅 No one has ever noticed that I'm actually wearing green mascara. 😁
My prediction- I think that along with innovative new textures and formulas, we are going to see more nuanced and sophisticated colour stories. We’ve been drowning in Rainbow Brite palettes and rose pink pastel palettes and I think we are going to get a more nuanced and grunged up colour choices. Especially in blush and lip colours. There will still be pops of colour, of course. But I bet we see more edge and less Barbie. ❤
Love the idea of more color coming back. You did a tutorial YEARS ago with the UD electric palette, over a base of a dark green nyx shadow stick (which I had to search high and low for!) and that shit is still my go to for a super colorful look!!!

I will always be doing what you call 'clean girl' makeup because I don't like a lot of makeup. I like a sheer foundation that's not much more than a tinted moisturizer, blush that looks natural even though people know it can't really be, natural brows that are just brushed to be even, small amount of eye shadow and liner with mascara (no false lashes), lip liner and tinted lip gloss/oil for day or matte lipstick with gloss at night. That's it. No concealer, powder, highlight, bronzer, lashes, waterline whatever. But I do like continually upgrading my product selection and application methods. Glad to find that on your channel.
I refused to plug my eyebrows thin when I was teen and everybody else did it. Most of them regretted it a few years later 😂. My brows aren’t bushy, but they have a nice shape and I won’t change it. I loved watching your video. It’s very interesting. But in the end I do what I like in my face. No matter the trend. When I want a bold eye, I do that. Or just a little bit or nothing. Trends come and go.
I definitely remember cream foundations 😂 I’m all in for many of these trends! My brows are naturally pretty thin and I prefer the cloud skin finish (been doing that forever). I’m not into colorful mascara and I usually stick to neutral/warm colors since those suit me best. I grew up in the grunge era so I’m excited for that! But I’ll do mine with dark smokey browns, bronzes and coppers.
Well I’m always just me, I don’t follow trends, but every once in awhile my look comes back lol. I’ll just wait it out again, although the velvet skin look is my all the time basically. Oh and I am glad my eyebrows will trend again. I suck at doing brows lol!!
Taupe and navy blue eyeshadows are my favorite to wear so I’ll be so excited to see cooler tones in palettes. I also LOVE a strategic pop of color as well as wearable every day sparkle.

These are helpful trends! Mary Kay used to have one of the best cream foundations around as well as Merle Norman back in the day! I wore the Max Factor panstick cream ( different formula than today) when I got married in the early 90s, the Max Factor panstick has lasted longer than my marriage did! 😢

Thin brows gets a loud 'no' from me. I remember I had a roommate in the 90's and one day I saw her fresh out of bed with about 1/2 an inch of eyebrow hair. She would shave her brow hair once a week and draw them in every morning. Now she has tattoo brows because her eye brow hair stopped growing years ago. It was a 'no' then and it is a 'no' today.

I don't understand following trends. For anything, but especially makeup, and clothing... personal stuff. Do you. Do what you like. Experiment if you want, change up every day. I have never done what everyone else is doing. I can never wrap my head around the concept.
Omg I love the compact foundations . There was one that I wore made by a MU Artist in a Red Compact and of course I can’t remember her name . It was flawless on the skin. 😊
As a person who had an accidental thin brow debacle in the 90s, I like the idea of my natural eyebrows just cleaned up with waxing, light fill in, and grooming.
Fully on board with basically all of these. Just turned 44 and lived through the thin eyebrows that never grew back enough for the fuller brow trend. Have lived for everything grunge since I was 12 years old 😂 So very much on board for number 10! Loving the colourful eye too

I love that the different textures are in. It makes it easier (and more fun!) to find the right products that accentuate my skin. One-texture trends invariably make one area of my skin look like the crypt keeper. I love experimenting with pops of color so I'm excited to see how people do that. One thing I've been loving a lot lately is a water activated eyeliner in a bright color along my upper lashes and about halfway in along the bottom of my brows. I wear glasses so it makes my eyes pop in a fun way without being too in-your-face for the office.
I hear you about the one-texture look! I'm liking the velvet skin trend for my oily-mature skin, but the skin under my eyes will still be hydrated and powder-free. Powder makes my undereyes look dried out and crepe-y! (FYI - I set my concealer with a bit of setting spray applied with a damp sponge.)

Would you be willing to do a video for brown eyes and how to make them pop and sparkle that is work appropriate I am only finding tutorials with intense blue eyeshadows and liners that I definitely would not rock day to day especially for work unless it’s very very subtle. I also don’t wear a ton on my eyes my go to is a brown eyeshadow for liner and black mascara sometimes brown mascara and nothing on my bottom waterline although lately have been applying a brown eyeshadow across my lower lashes and I’m liking it. I have also tried just using a plum colored mascara that’s not to obvious. My sisters eyes are beautiful and all she does is brown eyeshadows, black liner on upper and lower eyelids and also tight lines upper waterline finishes with mascara and her brown eyes always looks amazing.I personally think it’s too much eyeliner for myself. Please give us ideas. Apologies for the long rant just want a in-depth guide on this please and thank you.
I really LOVE that editorial makeup takes on the streets! Its all we loved from growing up looking at magaxines music videos and runway shows! Love these trends. As a natural thin browed girl I think its nice to finally be at peace with just some brow gel, but I hope that no one starts plucking them again . Actually, like #10. As an older lady, my brows have naturally thinned out anyway so now others will look more like mine 😂😂. I just go with my natural outline and not worry about perfection. Love being older😂
Picture it...1995...You are at the MAC counter (before they sold). I lived it lol. BTW: I just had my eyebrows micro bladed. I am in my 50's and after I was mapped, I requested it a bit thinner. I'm so glad I did. I'd rather a little thinner (not 90's thin; just regular) and able to powder them in thicker for trends. I love lip oils and glad color is back in! I still have my Hard Candy palettes from 1998.
Im glad to have thinner eyebrows back....the thick brow trend has just not been working for me and I have just kept my brows thin, as it is. I also hope this year the lip trend doesn't go with full plump (or just not making people feel the urge to get injections to make them bigger), time to bring back some thinner lip looks!!! All and all, I feel like some of the trend has already been going around in Asian countries, especially the lip jelly thing, it has been popular for a couple of years now over there. Feels like a mix between west and east makeup trend now. Also a bit curious on the contour side, if people are still gonna go with very defined shape or will go softer haha
I am currently enjoying the one and done eyeshadow look. I use a subtle shade with a shift usually. Maybe one and dine will continue, but just with those more vibrant colors you mentioned. (But not for me). I love just using a bronzy brown or grey blue on the lid, mascara and that’s it. Sometimes I go with a lighter shimmer. Simple. Pretty.
I feel like a new trend happening now, thanks to TikTok is the technique of painting on the foundation instead of blenders and stapling on. Painting it on technique with a flat painters like brush and stroking it on.
I still watch these types of videos even though I don’t follow trends. Things looks good on me -or they don’t. I’m all about what feels good. And I have hooded eyes so I can barely even do a liner.
I also think that thin eyebrows are coming back. They were there in the 90's and 70's. And older Hollywood legends like Marlene Dietrich had them. I don't think the really thick eyebrows look good on everyone. And the same for thin eyebrows. Mine were never full or thick. And I've seen where some people are getting colored eyelashes put on by lash techs.
I have naturally thick brows which I waxed once or twice in the 1990s. I didn't like how that looked on me. I looked perpetually surprised! So, I am keeping my brows as they are this year. I'm glad for the velvet skin trend. I'll be 60 this year, and I still have oily skin. I look dewy, in a bad way, almost all the time! A look that leans more matte is most welcome. The good thing about my oily skin is that I have fewer wrinkles, but it can be hard to control the oily-ness. I'll have fun with experimenting with pops of color on my eyes. I don't have thin brows but I think it can look really nice on other people. Not everyone can rock thick brows. Some people really fit the much thinner brows. Basically work with what works for your face. Not with what you wish you had if that makes sens lol.

LOL I worked at Merle Norman and didn’t wear that pancake makeup except for photos. You needed ten pounds of cold cream to remove it 😂

My prediction- I think that along with innovative new textures and formulas, we are going to see more nuanced and sophisticated colour stories. We’ve been drowning in Rainbow Brite palettes and rose pink pastel palettes and I think we are going to get a more nuanced and grunged up colour choices. Especially in blush and lip colours. There will still be pops of colour, of course. But I bet we see more edge and less Barbie. ❤

Love the idea of more color coming back. You did a tutorial YEARS ago with the UD electric palette, over a base of a dark green nyx shadow stick (which I had to search high and low for!) and that shit is still my go to for a super colorful look!!!

I will always be doing what you call 'clean girl' makeup because I don't like a lot of makeup. I like a sheer foundation that's not much more than a tinted moisturizer, blush that looks natural even though people know it can't really be, natural brows that are just brushed to be even, small amount of eye shadow and liner with mascara (no false lashes), lip liner and tinted lip gloss/oil for day or matte lipstick with gloss at night. That's it. No concealer, powder, highlight, bronzer, lashes, waterline whatever. But I do like continually upgrading my product selection and application methods. Glad to find that on your channel.

I refused to plug my eyebrows thin when I was teen and everybody else did it. Most of them regretted it a few years later 😂. My brows aren’t bushy, but they have a nice shape and I won’t change it.
I loved watching your video. It’s very interesting. But in the end I do what I like in my face. No matter the trend. When I want a bold eye, I do that. Or just a little bit or nothing. Trends come and go.
I definitely remember cream foundations 😂 I’m all in for many of these trends! My brows are naturally pretty thin and I prefer the cloud skin finish (been doing that forever). I’m not into colorful mascara and I usually stick to neutral/warm colors since those suit me best. I grew up in the grunge era so I’m excited for that! But I’ll do mine with dark smokey browns, bronzes and coppers.
Well I’m always just me, I don’t follow trends, but every once in awhile my look comes back lol. I’ll just wait it out again, although the velvet skin look is my all the time basically. Oh and I am glad my eyebrows will trend again. I suck at doing brows lol!!
Taupe and navy blue eyeshadows are my favorite to wear so I’ll be so excited to see cooler tones in palettes. I also LOVE a strategic pop of color as well as wearable every day sparkle.

These are helpful trends! Mary Kay used to have one of the best cream foundations around as well as Merle Norman back in the day! I wore the Max Factor panstick cream ( different formula than today) when I got married in the early 90s, the Max Factor panstick has lasted longer than my marriage did! 😢

Thin brows gets a loud 'no' from me. I remember I had a roommate in the 90's and one day I saw her fresh out of bed with about 1/2 an inch of eyebrow hair. She would shave her brow hair once a week and draw them in every morning. Now she has tattoo brows because her eye brow hair stopped growing years ago. It was a 'no' then and it is a 'no' today.
I never let go of the grunge trend. 😆

agreed on the thinner eyebrows; again, not the 90s thin but modern take on thin. I've already found myself wanting to go that route. I think your predictions for the makeup this year are pretty spot on too. Excited to try some of them out and see how the year's makeup fashion plays out.
I don't understand following trends. For anything, but especially makeup, and clothing... personal stuff. Do you. Do what you like. Experiment if you want, change up every day. I have never done what everyone else is doing. I can never wrap my head around the concept.
Omg I love the compact foundations . There was one that I wore made by a MU Artist in a Red Compact and of course I can’t remember her name . It was flawless on the skin. 😊
As a person who had an accidental thin brow debacle in the 90s, I like the idea of my natural eyebrows just cleaned up with waxing, light fill in, and grooming.
Was just telling my friend who is always sporting a Grundy vibe to her makeup that it’s coming back glad to hear you think the same!
Fully on board with basically all of these. Just turned 44 and lived through the thin eyebrows that never grew back enough for the fuller brow trend.

I love that the different textures are in. It makes it easier (and more fun!) to find the right products that accentuate my skin. One-texture trends invariably make one area of my skin look like the crypt keeper.
I love experimenting with pops of color so I'm excited to see how people do that. One thing I've been loving a lot lately is a water activated eyeliner in a bright color along my upper lashes and about halfway in along the bottom of my brows. I wear glasses so it makes my eyes pop in a fun way without being too in-your-face for the office.
I hear you about the one-texture look! I'm liking the velvet skin trend for my oily-mature skin, but the skin under my eyes will still be hydrated and powder-free. Powder makes my undereyes look dried out and crepe-y! (FYI - I set my concealer with a bit of setting spray applied with a damp sponge.)

Would you be willing to do a video for brown eyes and how to make them pop and sparkle that is work appropriate I am only finding tutorials with intense blue eyeshadows and liners that I definitely would not rock day to day especially for work unless it’s very very subtle. I also don’t wear a ton on my eyes my go to is a brown eyeshadow for liner and black mascara sometimes brown mascara and nothing on my bottom waterline although lately have been applying a brown eyeshadow across my lower lashes and I’m liking it. I have also tried just using a plum colored mascara that’s not to obvious. My sisters eyes are beautiful and all she does is brown eyeshadows, black liner on upper and lower eyelids and also tight lines upper waterline finishes with mascara and her brown eyes always looks amazing.I personally think it’s too much eyeliner for myself. Please give us ideas. Apologies for the long rant just want a in-depth guide on this please and thank you.

Actually, like #10. As an older lady, my brows have naturally thinned out anyway so now others will look more like mine 😂😂. I just go with my natural outline and not worry about perfection. Love being older😂

Picture it...1995...You are at the MAC counter (before they sold). I lived it lol. BTW: I just had my eyebrows micro bladed. I am in my 50's and after I was mapped, I requested it a bit thinner. I'm so glad I did. I'd rather a little thinner (not 90's thin; just regular) and able to powder them in thicker for trends. I love lip oils and glad color is back in! I still have my Hard Candy palettes from 1998.

Im glad to have thinner eyebrows back....the thick brow trend has just not been working for me and I have just kept my brows thin, as it is. I also hope this year the lip trend doesn't go with full plump (or just not making people feel the urge to get injections to make them bigger), time to bring back some thinner lip looks!!!
All and all, I feel like some of the trend has already been going around in Asian countries, especially the lip jelly thing, it has been popular for a couple of years now over there.
Feels like a mix between west and east makeup trend now.
Also a bit curious on the contour side, if people are still gonna go with very defined shape or will go softer haha
I am currently enjoying the one and done eyeshadow look. I use a subtle shade with a shift usually. Maybe one and dine will continue, but just with those more vibrant colors you mentioned. (But not for me). I love just using a bronzy brown or grey blue on the lid, mascara and that’s it. Sometimes I go with a lighter shimmer. Simple. Pretty.

I feel like a new trend happening now, thanks to TikTok is the technique of painting on the foundation instead of blenders and stapling on. Painting it on technique with a flat painters like brush and stroking it on.
Cool tone eye shadows just done work for me. There are so many blues, greys, silvers and taupes

I still watch these types of videos even though I don’t follow trends. Things looks good on me -or they don’t. I’m all about what feels good. And I have hooded eyes so I can barely even do a liner.

I also think that thin eyebrows are coming back. They were there in the 90's and 70's. And older Hollywood legends like Marlene Dietrich had them. I don't think the really thick eyebrows look good on everyone. And the same for thin eyebrows. Mine were never full or thick. And I've seen where some people are getting colored eyelashes put on by lash techs.

I have naturally thick brows which I waxed once or twice in the 1990s. I didn't like how that looked on me. I looked perpetually surprised! So, I am keeping my brows as they are this year.
I'm glad for the velvet skin trend. I'll be 60 this year, and I still have oily skin. I look dewy, in a bad way, almost all the time! A look that leans more matte is most welcome. The good thing about my oily skin is that I have fewer wrinkles, but it can be hard to control the oily-ness.
I'll have fun with experimenting with pops of color on my eyes. I'm looking forward to those colored mascaras!

I don't have thin brows but I think it can look really nice on other people. Not everyone can rock thick brows. Some people really fit the much thinner brows. Basically work with what works for your face. Not with what you wish you had if that makes sens lol.
