@@takeapart okay thanks I thought I broke it & that’s me having it for 3 years never noticed 😂, but I have noticed AF lags but I’m guessing it’s common on them
Very good video I may need to use this. Curious and have a question: My 10-20 sigma wide lens started doing this thing where the image shakes in the viewfinder. If I take a photo, subjects are soft but the shake doesn’t drag. Higher shutter speed doesn’t change the softness. I haven’t dropped it. I didn’t even use it for weeks. What could be the issue (I’m thinking it’s OS) and what would I be looking at to repair this unit? Will this video give me generally the same working flow with my lens give or take a few pieces?
hi, thanks and I would probably start with diagnosing it properly… maybe testing it without OS plugged in to main board of the lens . (just to be sure)
Thanks! There’s no on/off switch to the stabilizer so whatever “optical stabilization” it has would be internal and always on. That’s why I assume this would be the culprit. It makes a low sound and seems to wiggle inside the lens when this shaking in the viewfinder is happening. None of my other lenses do this on the camera so I have ruled out the camera as a problem. I will check for updates to this lens model though, maybe that would help. Assuming it doesn’t, any advice?
Hello Takeapart. You are so cool. I love your videos :D I has one question for you. I has this Sigma 24mm 1.4, the problem is i have fungus in the back lens. Just the first lens back but inside. Do you know if it is possible to open this part of the lens??? I have look in your video there is a split in the plastic (2:43). Many thanks for your support :D
Hi Fran , Im afraid that it is glued on ... it is easy enough to get new one from aliexpress... check links in description and contact sellers and ask for specific part. thanks for watching
Hi, not sure if this is any help but I have been using this video to help me take apart a 20mm f1.4 art, both the rear groups have a fine spray of dots inside, the inner group I took apart by slowly with a fine art paint brush applying small amounts of nail varnish remover between the retaining ring and holder and eventually could unscrew the black retainer ring and clean the inside of the two elements, this looks very similar to the one in this video, (I was a bit nervous in case any of the solvent got between the element but me still not being able to separate the group to clean),. The group that is attached to the aperture (outer rear group) looks like you would have to remove the aperture leaves etc to gain access to any retaining rings to disassemble (if there is any)
Great Video, thanks. Unfortunately your link for the parts leads to empty Item. Do you have good source for the main barrrel part of this lens? I have a broken one needed replacement. Thanks
Hey i just came across ur video and it seems the only one explaining how to dismantle a sigma lens , Though i have one question i bought a sigma 30mm sony and it has this aperture problem where the system shows that it's open to 1.4 but it is stuck at 3.5 ! Any idea how i can fix it or what the problem might be is and where can i get new sigma parts at!
it could be main lens pcb or aperture mechanism (delicate and hard to fix is something worn out) . anyhow head in description and follow the links for parts…. directly contact aliexpress seller and ask for specific part for your lens … they will be more than happy to create new listing for you.
I disassembled my dropped 24mm Art lens thanks to your tutorial. I found it extremely difficult to remove the inner heart, and that relates to why I wanted to take it apart in the first place. The focus ring doesn't respond to any movement while manually focusing. My guess is that the main construction that hold the front element hit the ground hard enough that there is enough of a bend in the metal housing. If the heart was that hard to remove, how in the heck is it supposed to spin freely via the movement of the focus ring...
Need help.. my Sigma art 50mm is hunting.. i took it apart and saw that the clear plastic strip for the optical sensor on the body has a long horizontal scratch in it.. the plastic strip that im talking about has 2 white glue/silicon points on it on each end of the optical sensor.. I think something got stuck between the optical sensor and plastic.. can this piece be replaced separately or does it have to replaced with the housing?? Do you also know the part number??? Thanks in advance
