That Emily Brontë quote perfectly sums up us INFJ's - we don't want the limelights and CEO offices, just give us a cozy room behind the curtains.
Unfinished projects, WIPs, perfectionism, procrastination & the desire for our work to speak for itself instead of having to advertise it... you've hit the nail on the head!
Thanks very much for taking the time to watch and comment. I love your description of a "cozy room behind the curtains." That sounds great to me. Well said!
Well said! Well spoken! It is a sad state of affairs when not only do we, through our tendencies towards perfectionism, become our own worst enemies, but also when the world, by and large through its' callousness, lack of empathy and self-indulgence/"need to have everything NOW"-ism tends to feel as if the world is attacking us as well.
This is the first video that I have EVER seen combining art and the INFJ type specifically, and also the first of yours. (Sorry, a couple tears fell on your face😊). Still, I did not subscribe until the moment I realized you actually ARE a true, dyed in the wool INFJ yourself. I observed more closely, & it became obvious, ha. I am also a more recently self-discovered INFJ, and after all these years of confusion and frustration often boiling over (it's like I was at war with myself), everything now makes sense! Now I am more peaceful, I happily live like a hermit making do with very little, and I'm painting to my heart's content every day. I should have listened to my inner voice many, many years ago!
To those of you who realize you are an INFJ earlier in life: lean into it, it IS a strength, and knowing that is FREEDOM. I am getting older in years, but.. I am in touch with my inner child and feeling much younger than I probably should! 😂
Thank you so much for watching and commenting (and subscribing)-it means a lot! Your comment (very eloquently stated) seems to indicate that you are truly embracing your INFJness.🙂 I celebrate finding your strength with you and applaud the unleashing of your inner child. Be well!
First video I’ve ever seen about being an artist and an infj. Thank you! I found myself nodding to everything you said. I, like you, I didn’t find out I was an infj until later in my life but I really wish I had known as a young teenager. It would have been so helpful.
Very good thoughts on how to be an INFJ and an artist.
There is one aspect though, that have vanished, not only for you, but in generel: What is success?
As an INFJ my selv, and an artist, I really don't care about financial succes, or to be famous. I care about succeeding with my art and my life.
When , and if, I succeed the other criteria I welcome it as a necessary evil. :))
Hello Bjorn, thanks very much for watching and commenting. Excellent points about success, and I couldn't agree more. Coincidentally, my next video is about that very thing. Be well.
@@jkenific Great!
@@jkenificthis channel is so valuable. I have a male cousin who is creative INFJ. I have subscribed
Thank you, fellow INFJ
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment!
Incredibly helpful advice. I'm about to embark on a new creative project, and this advice will no doubt prove indispensable. Being an INFJ can be so rewarding at times, and so difficult and frustrating at others. It's truly a constant struggle of self-mastery, discipline, and learning balance. Thanks so much for making this, John! Really appreciate it.
Hello Connie, Thank you very much for the kind words and for taking the time to watch and comment. It's always great to hear from fellow INFJs! I wish you the best of luck on your new project.
Excellent!
Thank you Fred!
I’m an INFJ artist. I took the test 3 months ago but never thought about the impact until now that I am working so hard to finish my MFA. Thanks for the video!
Hello Valerie, Thank you very much for watching and commenting. Best of luck in completing your MFA! 🙂
Watching this reminds me of the failure that i am in these areas. i wish i had more of a kick in the butt to get my creative juices going.
NO! You're not a failure; the fact that you're looking at things to get you motivated is a sign of digging yourself out of it. These steps are things that I work on every day...sometimes good, sometimes not so good, but trying. You got this!
Wow. I just aspire to wanting to do it! I have to play childish (to me) games to push me out of complacency, perfection fears and lack of desire. One world is overly stimulating ( when I’m applying what I’ve learned to actual project) and the other is total disengagement with anything resembling creativity. I wish I had met more people like this presenter. I totally don’t have a tribe. I’m literally isolated ( except yay youtube) out in the country in tiny community (150 population) and solo as all get out. Ideally I should have found peace and relaxation in retirement with all this time to do art and grow that way. It is so hard when you not a mainstream type of person! You know how you just don’t really fit in anywhere. I had to laugh when you mentioned do a hobby as part of self care routine….i thought doing art was my hobby….not needing it as a source of income. I’m on the wrong channel! God I should be counting blessings! Solid stuff is said here though if I was in my prime.
Hi Cynthia, thank you very much for taking the time to watch and comment. I do understand your position; we all have unique circumstances but would like to think you belong here. I have client projects, and hobbies, that are fortunately/unfortunately art-based, and I am certainly out of the mainstream, as well, and relate to your points. Thank you for your insights. Be well.
I completely get the childish games bit!!! Me too.
your channel might be small for now but the content and production is so very great! you're a great speaker too
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment; your kind words mean a lot. Be well!

Challenge: It's hard to be "out there". Ive had 4 names that I've used in my personal life just to have that obscurity.
Nice video. I also discovered that I was in INFJ later in life. I'm on a 10-year plan to be successful in my art career, and your advice really rings true with me and my previous experience. Good luck with your channel. Thanks
Thank you very much for your kind words. You seem very focused on your path moving forward. I appreciate you sharing this personal side of your career path. Best of luck!
A very well done and helpful video - thank you. But why did I only just discover your channel now? For the past few years, I've been watching a ton of INFJ and "creative life" videos. I wonder if there is a way to promote your channel (even if you have to pay) because your content is top notch and should be seen by more people... Keep up the good work :)
@@jjjk9995 Thanks you very much for your time and kind words. I'm working on the viewers, but right now, I’m more than happy having you and my other subscribers watching. Be well!
Thank You JK for exploring this subject! I consider myself an INFJ and it is both a gift and a curse. However I've been trying to grow from the difficulties and to do exactly some of the things you suggest. The important word in that phrase is TRYING... Great content, really! Very appreciative that you took time to create this message. This one is a keeper! Whenever I fall back in my "perfectionism stage" I will re-watch it. Blessings!
Thank you, Sheeba, for watching and even more for your comment. TRYING is so important (and enough), especially for the perfectionist. Great perspective!
Just wanted to note, it’s so true about wanting to keep working on a project to get rid of the imperfections that you as the artist might see. But I need to tell all the other infj’s out there, of my many times I truly did not want to put certain works up for sale because I was embarrassed about all the unfixed flaws I saw, but they ended up being my best sellers!
Just do it and get it out there. That’s still very difficult for me to do!
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment. I think we all can learn from your insight, thank you!
Pure gold John 💫
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Be well!
INFJ candy... You got another subscriber. Lets gooooo! 🎉
Thank you so much, John, for putting yourself in the limelight, online! I fit the INFJ personality type to a T and I appreciate the understanding and support you offer. I'm just getting a little book published that I wrote about letting go then loving yourself and others. I tell my stories about how it all came about and why I felt the need to write it. It seems to resonate with many others, largely because (in INFJ style) it has little ego. I don't want followers or fans (because I value my quiet and solitude so much) so I had to ponder carefully about how to promote it. It is all coming together so synchronistically that it is blowing my mind. Blogs like yours really help to support and encourage INFJs to put themselves out there without getting overwhelmed. Thank you!
Thanks Bonnie for your comments; that's so exciting to be publishing your book. Your story serves as a great reminder to us all that INFJs can do whatever we want. Best of luck!

As an infj, it felt really hard to watch a video that explain us from a very rational and cold point of view. I didnt feel connected to the teachings even though they seem valuable, because there was no heart involved. The pace of the video, the vibration of the voice, the lack of emotional connection - felt out of place for me. Maybe you are an infj but you explain things like a thinker.
@@dumitriudaniela Hello, thank you very much for taking the time to watch and comment. I understand that I’m an acquired taste, 😊 and might not click with everyone/anyone. But, I can only be who I am. There are so many great INFJs out there, with great channels, and sincerely hope you find one that speaks to you on your journey. Be well!
@@jkenific thank you for responding in such thoughtful way. I am very blunt at times as the truth i feel must be spoken as it is (i am autistic and the feelings are really intense). I did find someone else who seems to speak my infj language, however, i do appreciate your effort to create a video on this topic. All the best to you.
INFJ ARTIST. A psychologist knowing I was Dyslexic, gave me a tests, with given consent to use a few tools, I use to read better. One to read upside down, and the use of a transparent f Plastic film.. He was the one who told me I was Classified as an INFJ. then going into the meaning.. To me was "SO WHAT" Owen Gromme wildlife Artist knew I was dyslexic, and taught me bout even doing Art upside down. and the Red transparent film. , He often caught me skipping school, and drawing the wildlife in the Museum where he worked.. However in the 60's Wildlife art and learn the anatomy, design of buildings., all was Tossed out. Wildlife was nothing more than copy work, yet a sink full of dirty dishes. or cut up beef cow in a slaughter house got RAVE Reviews., along with a yellow square next to a green one, or dripped on paint.. Today it still is big to see splattered paint, dripped on paint, making a figured face look like someone in anger attacked them.. Otehre pour on paint from 4 cinch measuring cups to pour different colors on top of each other., then swirl around. Yes , some even I like. My work is NOT accepted. Due to the way people have been trained to look at realism Nature are as nothing more than Copy work, the very reason Why Art galleries Reject even ROBER BATEMAN's Work. Strange how so many say they believe in GOD, yet. consider the work of God's creation nothing more than CHEEP COPY work or illustration work. Ignorant as I see it, as a means to destroy more land because it is a Waste of $$$$money to sit., and not be Productive or give jobs to MASS PRODUCE., adding more TOXINS to pollute the air. INFJ artist wonder how many do not LIVE is such CLEAN environment , Clean never been washed clothes., crystal clean skin, hair that looks like just be to s salon , This is how Pod Casts show INFJ's , wealthy , NICE TEATH., with a nice smile., as if NO REAL INFY would live in a place with tossed out furniture ,Blanket window, with plastic over them in Winter. NO stove or Fridge, but a Microwave Rent is at the low end. IF it goes higher, I have enough to put my items into storage, and go HOMELESS. I continue to paint, even though flat board canvas is considered cheep , and the paint I use acrylic paint. Cheep ,probably not worth anything, compared to costly oil paints. on a large sturdy canvas. I have some friends, but i never tell them I live far below the Poverty level. because I would not be worthy of their time for them to talk to me. It is being deceptive , but far better than to hear many talk about how Wasted they got, or got HING on some Really "Great" stuff. or about their job, sports, or Gossip .about others, So why do POD CAST always make people look so great, or is because criminal Profilers like Nancy Grace,( think that is her last name.) paint possible INJ"S as Creepy, weird, Quiet, soft spoken, as a possible psychopath, to stay away from such people. dangerous.? Police are ready to profile such people as not worthy, damaged goods. Words as a child I heard before I even started school, Females have it tougher to get ahead, than men, I can list a number of people, mainly Actors that said they were Dyslexic. The FONZ on Happy Days is one. The founder of IKEA " is dyslexic, Think women are bigger to Peg hole someone. So How do I get out of this world being a Dyslexic INFJ? Who paints ,and sketches wildlife ?
Thank you for your comment. I am aware that there are many different circumstances that we INFJs find ourselves in. I appreciate your comments (and openness) on the way you process art as it may differ from the mainstream, and think there are many points that you bring up that give us all something to consider. Wishing you the best!
I thought you gave yourself a "Barbie" nickname.😋😘
INFJs aren't empathetic, they're sympathetic. It's a common and dangerous misconception.
Empathy is shown in how much compassion [Fe] and understanding [+Ne] we can give to another. Sympathy is more of a feeling of pity [Ni] for another [+Fe]. Empathy is our ability to understand [Ne] how someone [e] feels [F], while sympathy is our [i] relief [Ni] in not having the same problems. -Google
And INFJs can only understand ST and NF types, not NT or SF types.
Thank Bartholomew for taking the time to watch, comment, and for your clarification. It is much appreciated! Be well.
@@jkenific You as well. Love the editing by the way.
I am a highly empathic INFJ. It works for some!
@@bonniedonahue6452 Empathy means you'd take action at your own expense without expecting anything in return (Apathy is the other side). Sympathy means even though you can feal people's emotions, they don't dictate or influence the choices you make (Integrity is the other side).
Empathy is based around Ne (Facets) + Fe (Equality), while Sympathy is based around Se (Resources) + Fe (Equality). That's why Model-G Beta/Templar type usually end up being hypocritical, and both Soul temple types end up being manipulative.
If you really are highly Empathetic, you're not actually an NF or ST. And to be empathetic every once in a while wouldn't make you yourself are an empathetic person.
@@BartholomewHenryAllen All I know is that I am highly empathetic and I have to be careful how much I give to and support others. I likely just use the word 'empathy' differently than you do.
Talks way too fast no inflection and becomes difficult to follow sounds more like Ai.
Hi Philomena, thanks for watching and commenting. I totally agree; and so does my wife!😂😂 but unfortunately, it's me, not AI. Be well.
