    Gr8 vid. What I am stuck on is that there is no form of lubrication between the ‘flexible coupling’ (with the rubberised internal area) and the hub itself. So on mine, one face of these flexible coupling grinds up against the end of the hub. Just doesn’t look or sound right. What am I missing ?

      Hello. There should be a spacer there. It shouldn't touch. In the meantime, I replaced the flex joints with proper modern homokinetic joints. No more fiddling with gearbox position to perfectly align driveshafts.

    brilliant video .. Just what I was looking for .. My 2021 Fiat panda hybrid has 3mm a side toe in on the rear wheels . this is six mm total toe in .. tyre scrub and excessive wear will be complimented with excessive tyre wear ./ drag resulting in the poor fuel economy I am experiencing . I have reset the front toe in to parallel and intend to reset / shim the rear toe in to parallel also . A brief test drive will highlight any issues .EX 1980 Donnington GT championship class winner .

      Thanks. Although, this video is about a classic Fiat 500 from 1972. I don't think the modern fiats have much in common :).

    before doing the check with the 500 gram weight hanging, how much should the nut be tightened?

      It takes a lot of torque to crush the inner spacer. I used an impact gun and tested with the weight a few times. If it drops quickly, it needs more torque.

      I think any grease that is rated for axles will do just fine. I also use lithium based grease. It's important to use a generous amount and pack the bearings well.

    are the arms sprayed or powder-coated?

      Sandblasted, etch primer and spray paint. Powder coat would be better only if done right, with top quality paint suited for automotive use. That can get very expensive.

    Salut , vezi ca in butuc exista o shaiba de compresie ( ai scoso la min 0.30 ) care se inlocuieste cu una noua de fiecare data cind se umbla la butuc , ea are rolul sa se deformeze cind stringi piulita mare de dupa cupla elastica pt a genera presiunea necesara rulmentului ,,, poate ca metoda ta e de ajuns , dar butucul rotii spate este o parte critica la fiatul 500 ,, am citit ca daca butucul nu e corect strins cu ajutorul shaibei deformabile siguranta din capatul fuzetei se reteaza , piulita se slabeste si fuzeta iese in exterior din butuc cu tot cu tamburul de frana si roata , la viteza mica masina se dezechilibreaza si ramai fara frana in mers pt ca tamburul ai iesit din dreptul ferodourilor , pierzi lichid de frina din piston si f oarte probabil de dai peste cap cu masina ( pt ca motorul este in spatele rotilor si masina se dezechilibreaza foarte rau.
    A fost un accident in felul asta cu fiat 500 ca al tau in germania ,, daca dai un nr iti trimit articolul sa vezi ce a mai ramas din ea ....
    Am 3 carti de garaj la fiatul meu 500L , unul este si in format pdf si ti l trimit imediat fara obligatii daca nu ai unul pina acum.
    O alta eroare f mare , in videoul anterior ai pus vaselina intre platformele de aluminiu si bucsele de cauciuc care tin partea de sus a arcului cu foi .... acolo trebuie sa fie foarte curat pt ca arcul sa nu alunece spre stinga si dreapta .... exista o piesa de tuning care asigura ca arcul sa nu se deplaseze deloc stinga dreapta ....
    Ai facut foarte bine ca ai gresat foile arcului pt ca altfel nu aluneca una pe alta si arcul nu lucreaza ( multi nu stiu asta ....)
    Arcul trebuia tensionat mai mult in momentul montarii , pina sta absolut drept ( in manual zic 120kg forta )
    Eu am facut o presa care trace arcul de deasupra pt ca am crezut ca nu tine filetul surubului central
    Mai exista o metoda sigura si ingenioasa cu montarea a doua bare filetate in locul amortizoarelor cand ai montate si portfuzetele de arc . Strinci piulite la capatul barilor filetate in mod egal pina arcul sta drept , stringi atunci bratarile arcului incepi sa desfaci tijele , cind basculele superioare ajung in pozitie perpendiculara pe contra aripa stringi bucsile superioare si cele inferioare ( din capetele arcului cu foi ) ... in pozitia asta bucsile nu se strica cind sta masina pe roti ...
    Scuze ca ma bag ca musca in lapte dar nu vreau sa aflu mai tarziu ca ai facut fiatul praf 😀
    In vara lui 2020 a fost facut praf un fiat 500L galben in bucuresti ... a ajuns la craiova se pare

      Salut. Merci pt ponturi. Butucii spate au fost asamblati ca la carte, cu distantier de compresie nou strivit(trebuie cuplu f mare, am folosit pistolul pneumatic) pana am obtinut rezistenta corecta in rulmenti(doar ca nu am filmat.. se facuse tarziu si m-am grabit sa le asamblez). Am pus un text pe clip care explica pe scurt procedura de ajustare. La arc am pus acolo vaselina doar sa tina cauciucul in pozitie cat montez. Si la demontare am observat ca era putina vaselina acolo. Nu va fi condus atat de sportiv cat sa devina aia o problema. La arc am comprimat pana tumburucul din centru nu mai atingea caroseria. Nu stiu daca ajuta cu ceva sa stang mai mult pt ca ar fi revenit in aceeasi pozitie. Multi le pun fara presa si sg efect e ca sta fata putin mai sus cateva zeci de km pana se aseaza. O sa merg putin cu ea cand e gata si daca sta aiurea, pot sa montez din nou arcul presandu-l mai mult. Merci din nou pt ponturi. Spor!

      @@AircooledProject ... sti ca vaselina normala strica repede cauciucul care nu e facut sa stea in vaselina ,,, daca vrei sa pui vaselina pe anumite parti de cauciuc trebuie folosita vaselina siliconica .... eu la fiatul 500 am schimbat furtunele de la benzina cu unele noi din comert si au inceput sa curga repede pt ca benzina care exista acum are etanol in ea care topeste cauciucul , am schimbat tot traseul de benzina cu teava de cupru si capetele cu furtun verde original fiat si nu mai am probleme ... in tunelul central al masinii furtunul de plastic era vechi de 50 de ani !

      .... si sa mai fi atent la stutul unde intra benzina in carburator , de multe ori capata joc si sare in mers si umple motorul cu benzina ... de la vibratii si furtun prea gros se slabeste ,,, a mea a avut problema asta cind am aduso din italia ,, am scos stutul l am curatat i am facut striuri l am pus cu epoxi inapoi si am batut cu un dorn in jurul lui in corpul carburatorului ,, n am mai avut problema asta ,

      The spacer goes inside between the 2 bearings, like in the video.

      The thin ring goes between the bearing and seal, so the bearing doesn't rub on the seal.

      it's a 500. the proper way is: whatever tools you have, however you can make it work.
      that's 90% of the charm of these cars.

      @@zapwatt more than sufficient for those bearings. it's just a 500, not a space ship to the moon.
