If it isn’t working, try placing some light blocks in the water to stop drowned from spawning then lower chuck distance. Mine wasn’t working very well at first then I tried this and now it works fine.

guardians are spawning in other spots... I am positive the pillars are correct but im still getting spawns in other places. I double and triple checked the pillars

ran into an issue where i had a large pack spawn just beneath the spawner- my grid is good and the afk spot is good. if i were to block off/drain the water beneath the farm, would that mess anything up? just don’t want that to happen again

That means the pillars which are used to spawnproof are made wrongly.

They can also glitch through some corners so try to build solid squares
