When fiction enters the money supply, it introduces an element of unreality or speculation that can undermine the stability and trust that money is supposed to represent. Money, at its core, is a tool humanity uses to simulate value, facilitate trade, and create a common understanding of worth in the real world. It relies on trust and a shared belief in its value, which is ideally grounded in something tangible or reliable. When speculative or fictitious elements-such as inflated asset values, derivatives with no real underlying value, or even currency manipulation- enter the money supply, they can distort this simulation of reality. These fictional aspects can inflate or deflate the perceived value of money, leading to economic bubbles, crashes, or hyperinflation. This, in turn, can discount reality by making it harder to assess the true value of goods, services, and labor. In this sense, the intrusion of fiction into the money supply can lead to a disconnect between the currency's value and the real-world economy it is meant to represent. It can create an economic environment where decisions are based on illusions or distorted perceptions rather than on the true state of affairs. This undermines the stability of the financial system and can erode trust in money as a reliable measure of value, ultimately discounting reality itself.

The H. R. Giger necronomicon is an astounding collection of art. Most Lament Configurations and PuzzleBox replicas aren’t very satisfying to hold. Cheap plastics and no functionality, though it looks cool on the shelf. There are some very nice ones, heavy, that do open or change shapes.
I bought the Necronomicon as a coloring book. Seeing these pages are exactly what are in my book. I specifically got it to make my own Darkholde prop. I weathered the crap out of the pages that I used and seeing this book, I must have done an ok job because they look very similar.
The kiss of the Necronomicon will always haunt me as a child, my grandmother was so old the book always reminded me of her when the family visited. A peck on rhe cheek was the terror and watching the movie made it even more special.

There isn't enough Xanax in the world to calm the anxiety I feel when Adam is around some of these things. He definitely shouldn't be allowed to touch them.
Two other big ones were the Book of the Damned by Charles Fort (the pilot had its own Book of the Damned) as well as the journals from the video game Myst. But yeah, the Evil Dead II's Necronomicon was undoubtedly an inspiration as well.
@@Alskie666 the face details I'm making with a clay thing and then I'll be wrapping it in a thin leather thats already a color close to the brown-ish one of the original. I already made a smaller version with a different face style to test it and looks pretty cool after painting shadow details like the eyes and between wrinkles. it's to be used for writting so the pages are blank but aged on the edges, tho I kinda want to add some of the designs somewhere, maybe on the endsheets
The exact pages from the Evil Dead 2 book are known, going through the opening stop motion sequence of the movie where the book is being written frame by frame you can see 90-95% of each page as it goes. Certain page details not visible in this scene have been cross referenced in rare interviews and behind the scenes materials.
2:37 (over B-roll): "Take note! Take note! This is really important reference here! ... That's such an important gesture to get this horrifying object to look right." Sure would have liked to have been able to know what Adam was referring to there...
There should be an archival site that lists movie props, detailed photos, their stories and owner records listed by a two factor ID that combines the prop ID and owner ID for privacy.
Not going to lie, if this was me, I'd make a replica that I could put on the stand specifically so I could "accidentally" knock it over and damage it. Then I'd get the other guy to bring out the real one.
True story that when finishing the production of the first movie they had a box and they put movie props inside it and buried it at the cabin site, And the legend says that the box is still not found by the fans.
yes but they buried it just outside the cabin in the dirt as they said...all that's left is just the brick fireplace and holes where people had been digging trying to look for the box...also you can even see where the basement was where a big hole is although about 95% of the basement is completely buried with dirt within the surface that we can no more enter.
I had the opportunity to gaze upon the necronomicon for the musical production - and met the artist. Little convention for B-movie cinema/film in Ohio, by the name Cinema Wasteland, had the artist as a special guest for quite a couple years and i had the joy to visit. There were quite a few notable guests that year I went, but the artist behind that art for the necronomicon had his own little room where so much of his art was on display that you'd think it were a museum for the event. Such a great fella to talk with and hear stories from this awesome artist. Like a litttle tale of the musical, how he particularly enjoyed how one audience member in the front row was dressed in a white suit - waiting to get sprayed in the theatrical blood. In particular, I liked his drawing he would sign for EVERYONE; he went on to tell me how he came upon the design for his little drawing while trying to impress some new friends in Japan, and that if he ever won the lottery - He'd likely host a big weekend long party where the only people invited would have to turned in the signature with the drawing. Tom Sullivan is seriously one cool dude.
This is one of my most favorite movie props ever. I actually made several replicas in my own style, trying to get it right each time, exploring different styles.
I met Tom Sullivan a bunch of times at various cons when I was younger. Absolute class act; he remembered me and the girl I was seeing at the time each year we went and asked after her efforts as an artist in a way that felt supportive. Seeing him was always one of the highlights of the con. I also ran into Tom Savini and Ted Raimi while they were in town for a related matter and both of those guys were an absolute trip. Bruce Campbell is, of course, Exactly As Cool He Seems and Erik Estrada was Weird. That's basically all my stories.
Sam didn't really get involved with what Tom was doing, Tom just kinda did his own thing and Sam thought it was great. Watch the documentary about Tom Sullivan called "Invaluable" it showcases really just how invaluable he was to Evil Dead.
Is it weird when I read this video title, the first thing that came to my mind was the song by LL cool J - Phenomenon, but i was singing "Something like Necronomicon"
Evil dead I&II and Army of Darkness are my ultimate favorite horror movies I was a little kid when evil dead came out and I remember when my brother would rent it (back in the good ol days of VHS!) and it would scare the crap outta my little 8yro self but I loved it! Hail to the King baby! Haha
also....fun fact...the same exact phrase used in the OG war of the worlds which was the shut down command to power down GORT....(BLACK AND WHITE VERSION )
Really hoping you and propstore had enough time to shoot Adam's thoughts on the principal photography model of the Nostromo you guys have in this catalogue! Also praying you got to look over some of the Doug Trumbull/2001 stuff, so much unbelievable stuff in this auction.
Tom Sullivan made it for the movie. Got to know him while working on a documentary about him. He was amazing and spent time with everyone who wanted to speak with him, such a legendary artist
I met Tom Sullivan in the 90s at a friend's comic shop. I gotta admit I didn't know evil dead at the time and my friend introduced us. He mentioned he did something for a movie and went on to talk about rpg art (I'm a comic book artist). Nice guy and I regret not really knowing who he was or what he did. He was there because of an event he was curious about. He knew my friend. Cool memory and regretful in hindsight.

There isn't enough Xanax in the world to calm the anxiety I feel when Adam is around some of these things. He definitely shouldn't be allowed to touch them.
Linus from Linus Tech Tips would like a word on this subject.
@@visualdragon I know right?! He should be placed in a perspex box
Seeing the inside of the book makes me realise that the books from gravity falls 100% took inspiration from this
Gravity falls has hundreds of deep horror and real world scary stories references, this is just one of many!
Or they all took inspiration from Lovecraft.
Two other big ones were the Book of the Damned by Charles Fort (the pilot had its own Book of the Damned) as well as the journals from the video game Myst. But yeah, the Evil Dead II's Necronomicon was undoubtedly an inspiration as well.
holy sh¡t this is insane I'm making a Necronomicon right now!!! this is crazy and very useful :O
will it be a working model ?
I’ve wanted to make one too! How you doing it?
It's so hard to source authentic human skin
@@MrAtrophy I sure hope so
@@Alskie666 the face details I'm making with a clay thing and then I'll be wrapping it in a thin leather thats already a color close to the brown-ish one of the original.
I'd like to see the Necronomicon from the first "The Evil Dead" movie.
2:37 (over B-roll): "Take note! Take note! This is really important reference here! ... That's such an important gesture to get this horrifying object to look right."
Sure would have liked to have been able to know what Adam was referring to there...
I just wish someone opens a museum and puts all this cool probs inside for the public.
There should be an archival site that lists movie props, detailed photos, their stories and owner records listed by a two factor ID that combines the prop ID and owner ID for privacy.
Man, so cool. Got the replica myself, which is very detailed as Adam says, but to see the real prop is like winning the horror lottery. 😎
Are they going to auction off the book?! To quote Indiana Jones "it belongs in a museum!"
Not going to lie, if this was me, I'd make a replica that I could put on the stand specifically so I could "accidentally" knock it over and damage it. Then I'd get the other guy to bring out the real one.
My most favored prop from the series!!!
I read this as most flavored and was very worried for a second
Adam uses the white gloves... but he touches his face SOOOO MUCH... Heart out to the conservator.
I believe accurize is the word Adam was looking for (had to look it up myself to be sure).
I rented Evil Dead 2 on Vhs.😆
Loved it being an H.P. lovecraft fanatic.
I read everything Lovecraft wrote by the time I was 15.
55 now.😆
This is way cool. Thanks TH-cam for recommending this.
Is this the original Facebook?
Complete with Zuckerberg's real face on the book.
Yes

Yes, just not as evil and destructive as the modern day one.

True story that when finishing the production of the first movie they had a box and they put movie props inside it and buried it at the cabin site, And the legend says that the box is still not found by the fans.
that cabin burned down.
yes but they buried it just outside the cabin in the dirt as they said...all that's left is just the brick fireplace and holes where people had been digging trying to look for the box...also you can even see where the basement was where a big hole is although about 95% of the basement is completely buried with dirt within the surface that we can no more enter.
@@tonydann-nb7ce where was the cabin located?
It’s not a party till the dear mount starts laughing at you😊
True that, but it does become a small worry when the lamp light beside you bobs up and down laughing
DEER mount. Yeah I'm that guy lol
"Accuratize" is not a word but apparently "accurize" is and it means "to improve the accuracy of a firearm"
Not sure about "accuritize" but "accurize" is the word for making guns or bullets more accurate.
Since the definition of what he wanted is different than accurize, I guess he just coined a new word.
I think the list of props that Adam has NOT MADE, is likely much shorter than the list of those he has made!
Very brave to open the book, it could damage the prop or unleash a horde of Deadites.
Sam didn't really get involved with what Tom was doing, Tom just kinda did his own thing and Sam thought it was great. Watch the documentary about Tom Sullivan called "Invaluable" it showcases really just how invaluable he was to Evil Dead.
Is it weird when I read this video title, the first thing that came to my mind was the song by LL cool J - Phenomenon, but i was singing "Something like Necronomicon"
and for some reason I read that to the tune of "Don't go chasing waterfalls"
I love how they handle this like its so precious like The Dead Sea Scrolls or something similar.
“Accuratize” to make a replica more accurate to the origonal.
Nice try 😂
Nice try spelling, "original".
Accurize! Original! 😂😂

I own the DVD with a replica of this and it have a battery and speaker with a button.
I'd love for someone to Lidar-scan props like these. Really cool to see.

Really hoping you and propstore had enough time to shoot Adam's thoughts on the principal photography model of the Nostromo you guys have in this catalogue!
Also praying you got to look over some of the Doug Trumbull/2001 stuff, so much unbelievable stuff in this auction.
What a dream job it must be to auction props!
Tom Sullivan made it for the movie. Got to know him while working on a documentary about him. He was amazing and spent time with everyone who wanted to speak with him, such a legendary artist

What an awesome coincidence. I am actually working on a digital oil painting of Evil Dead fan art right now.
This looks delicate but mighty.
Absolutely Awesome
Can confirm I've heard _that_ word before.
Yes, I have the book replicas that came with the DVDs, and all the pages are detailed in them. Don't know if they are correct, but the pages are full.
Such an iconic piece 🤌 Praise Cthulhu
Groovy.
This is so cool. I have an extremely high quality replica and it's much larger then the original.
That book is epic ! I dont want to know whats inside lol
I love Whedon's references to it in Cabin in the Woods.
I swear he swings his hands around the props s'much just to make viewers nervous.
Fun Halloween table decor is this, and it lights up and such. Its cool.
So this is the one that Bruce Campbell picked up and read from
