I think that the animated figures hold up well even today, I’m happy you could play with this thing since their figures are really accurate and fun imo.
The art director for TFA, the late Derrick J. Wyatt, worked very closely with the toy designers to get the toys as ACCURATE as possible. I remember I had Animated Jetstorm and Jetfire.
I bought the jet twins last year and it cost me a pretty penny but it was worth it. I remember really wanting them but couldn’t find or get them. Animated in my opinion is probably the best transformers cartoon tied with g1 and prime
Animated designs are lowkey some of the best redesigns I have seen in the TF franchise, rivaling the tfp designs. They look like they have been through a "cartoon network filter"
Happy new year Prime!! I’ve actually recently started rewatching animated and it’s just been a huge trip down nostalgia lane. For nearly 16 year old figures, they are scarily accurate. Looking forward to more of your throwback reviews!
Dude I honestly highly recommend listening to the stunticon job and the season 4 episodes 1-3 script reading on TH-cam, we may unfortunately not see animated again with DJW passing away but they’re definitely fun to listen to
Bumblebee was my first TFA figure, but I still remember getting Ratchet and Lockdown for Christmas that year (loved the interchangeable EMP generator feature)
I recently pulled my animated collection out of storage to display. I am amazed at how well the line holds up. The figures were very well designed and built with great transformations. Animated is probably my overall favorite line. It does have some small problems like any other line, but way more hits than misses.
I still have a case display of Animated toys. They look great on display and look lively even if just standing up straight. Also, as a 'finite' line, there's little worry about newer toys bloating the collection or replacing the older ones, as the new stuff will have its own aesthetic that doesn't quite match the rest, like Legacy Evo Prowl.
YES, YES, YES! I have had this figure ever since I was a child because I was there, growing up with Animated and it along with the 07 movie were what made me a Transformers fan! I'm so glad to see it in your channel! 🙌🏻🔥
I went to a store (cant remember the name) when I was younger, looking for transformers, and I found a bag of cars and noticed one had a some visible lines and bought the bag, I got home and opened it and it was the animated ratchet! Great figure, and great review👍🏻
I used to have bumblebee, but now all I have is part of Earth Megatron, Optimus Prime, Prowl, and Bulkhead, while my dad has Cybertronian Ratchet and the Cybertronian Megatron/Optimus pack.
5:42 For reference the EMP cannon is a part of the TFP Lockdown figure, it turns into his exposed hot rod engine intake in vehicle mode. Just be aware that TFP Lockdown is a rather spikey dude (in both senses) when transforming him. You fingers do get rather sore after a while, especially when trying to form his legs.
Really glad you’re getting into Animated stuff! I’d love to see you review Magnus, Jazz, Wreck Gar, and Rodimus, as those are some of my favorites, and I’m sure you already have plans to review the big ones like Megatron, Prowl, etc.
This is the first TFA figured I've ever held onto. It's my big brother's. Mine is the Voyager Cybertron Mode Megatron. Little brother got the Voyager Optimus Prime. The good old days.
I have a bunch of Animated figures, and they have some really cool positives mixed with some downsides of variable impact. For positives: The show accuracy is fantastic, the weapon storage was a constant across all figures, and they were big without feeling hollow. The negatives: Transformations were abysmally simple, and complexity rarely increased for voyager and leader class. Figure gimmicks were occasionally included at the detriment of the figure overall (Voyager Optimus' hips is a good example). There is far too much soft plastic for things that don't really need it, and the joint tolerances are awful. Few recommendations for good animated figures imo: Deluxe Lockdown, Deluxe Bumblebee, Leader Ultra Magnus, Voyager Starscream, voyager Safeguard, Voyager Blitzwing, Leader Bulkhead, Deluxe Soundwave, Deluxe Blackarachnia, Deluxe Oil Slick, Deluxe Samurai Prowl, and all of the dinobots.
Besides my dad showing me G1, Animated is what originally got me super into transformers! I distinctly remember getting Prowl and Blackarachnia as some of my very first transformers! I still have all of my original Animated figures from when I was a kid! That series is my all time favorite TF show...still waiting for that season 4 haha.
Glad you were able to get ahold of this guy PvP, him and all the other Animated figures are phenomenal! Animated has always been my favorite Transformers show, and honestly the figures have been my favorites as well. Phenomenal video as always, and happy new year!
I have the entire toyline and got them all as they were released. As an 80s kid and growing up through all toyline releases, I can honestly say that the animated figures are some of the best figures in my entire collection.
These Animated line is among my favorite Transformers line because of their stylized version of the Transformers we know but the toys look very much like their animated counterpart.
Love my Animated figs to this day. Blur and Lockdown are the most impressive "Deluxe" bots in terms of size for the class. Gonna have to dust off my Animated bots and find a place to display them. Thanks for the throwback.
i own this exact ratchet and i can say that after 10 something years of having him boy did he not survive the test of time, out of any figure that i bought at that time other figures in comparison held up way better as this one cant even stand, cant hold his vehicle mode because his legs keep falling out, and his doors actually got worn out so much that one is falling out, not only that but even new he couldnt hold his pose, kept falling and felt weird, tho in its defense i have to say the paint held up pretty nice despite all the random falls hes damn sturdy to survive all of that with practically no damage and all of the complaints just come from him not surviving the test of time, he also looks great.
Fun facts for anyone wondering Animated ratchet does get an emp toy but it comes as lockdown’s motor/engine from his toy There was an “upgrade kit” that came with his “double sided” magnet (claws?) as well as Sari’s key , some stasis cuffs, the allspark, and I believe the clones/seekers helmets all courtesy of cybertron 2005 or something? There is a video online on it Ratchet was repainted and since lockdown was also repainted he could have his own toy emp Like most/all animated toys from the mainline there is a Japanese repaint with a more metallic/shiny look And finally ratchet (+bulkhead) doesn’t have an elite guard repaint of their toy unlike the other members of the team do
Buy Prowl & Samurai Prowl. The original ones wheel wells pop off and transform into shurikens, the Samurai versions pop off, and are somewhat molded right, but they’re solidified, so they don’t transform. That’s why if you buy both versions, you can put the transforming ones onto the samurai one which has the sidecar that turns into armor, and has updated hip joints that the original version didn’t have but severely needed.
My First Transformers Animated Figure is Lockdown. I Remember when I Buying this Decepticons at Carrefour Supermarket. In Indonesia 🇮🇩, Carrefour is one of the Supermarkets that are visited by many people but now have been replaced by Transmart (Indonesian Supermarkets). Awesome Nostalgic Transformers Animation and Happy New Year 2023 🎉👏
I'm visiting family for the xmas break and revisiting all my old animated toys. Voyager Optimus was probably my fave. So many good ones! Ratchet was easily one of the weakest, and he's still really good! (you're missing all his tool accessories btw)
One animated figures I highly recommend tracking down are Oil Slick, Blitzwing, the dinobot trio, voyager Optimus, and the one I had as a kid but broke due to well...being a kid, deluxe bumblebee.
The only Animated figures I have are Deluxe Soundwave w/Laserbeak and Voyager Blitzwing and I'd say they were worth picking up. Blitzwing is really tall but compresses into an adorable little tank (and can kinda be a jet I guess) while Soundwave feels less "Animated" and more "Anime".
I got as many of the tfa figures as I could at the time. I loved the show for its characters and story quality. The toys are mostly great. Ratchet is one of the best. Prowl is also great. Still have them on display and are enduring the passage of time well
Animated defines Transformers for Me for than anything considering it was my first series in the franchise. I’ll never forget it for introducing Me to what I believe is one of the greatest franchises in history, along with the Michael Bay movies.
TF Animated is one of first TF toys we bought after 1 1/2 year (Late 2007 - Mid 2008). TF Animated is a good Toy Line as we bought Lugnut and Bulkhead. Too bad from the time they re-sale this year, the paintjob is now downgraded as it's been stored for too long.
This was my first Animated figure. Got him for 18€ with no accessories at a flea market. Great quality of plastic, but I hate the feet: they use to go inside the leg and makes it hard to stand straight.
Sadly I didnt get any animated toys when they were on shelves. I did want them, but Lego was a priority for me as a kid (aaaand it still is, lol). However I have started to collect a few in recent years. They are definitely still very impressive. The fact that they managed to be so accurate to such a stylised art style while still being quite simple to transform is increadible
I don't own any of my figures anymore, but I used to have Soundwave, Oil Slick, Lockdown, Waspinator and Snarl 5:44 the EMP blaster is actually on the Lockdown figure and is compatible
Animated is fantastic there proper toys meant to be fun and robust. Animated Arcee is still my favourite as she was the first proper Arcee we ever got. Had to wait 20 years for her, Hasbro didn't think female bots would sell.
I actually still own an Animated Grimlock, however its arm panels are missing, but its still a great figure nonetheless. Transformers really were built differently back then.
My first animated figure was the Deluxe Cybertronian truck Optimus Prime. I never really enjoyed it, so when I got Ultimate Optimus Prime (most people dislike it, but I have some personal bond with this inaccurate, yet amazing figure. He doesn't appear in most videos due to scale problems), I forgot about the guy, gave him to a 5th grade Transformers fan was good with, and am spending more time with my SS Optimus Prime collection. The only ones I currently have are Bulkhead, Ratchet, Jazz, and Sentinel, and am considering finding an Earth Based Animated Prime.
I collected, and still own, almost all the Animated figures. I think they're great. A few suffered from VERY loose joints, but they could be easily fixed
With Animated you are mistaken, they did not classify scale based on bot mode, it was based on vehicle mode. Vehicle size determined whether it was a deluxe, voyager, or leader. Later on with WFC they changed classification of deluxe, voyager, etc based on engineering and plastic content. If you take a look at Lockdown his bot mode is huge way bigger then ratchet but he is classified as a deluxe because of his vehicle size.
My first REAL TFA figure was the Cybertron Mode Optimus. I say REAL, because my first TFA figure overall was the McDonald’s Bumblebee, back when they were doing that.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I'm really looking forward to some exciting new figures in the coming year and your videos telling me all about them ;) Great video, these animated toys were out when I was busy drinking and erm... ahem, girls, ahem... but seeing it now I can see I really missed out! I'd love this figure in my collection :) All the best for the future amigo!
I actually still have my TFA Ratchet and Bumblebee toy that I had as a kid, I remember that my ratchet for some reason didn't come with those weapons since they were never in the box when I opened it and in bumblebee's case, I lost his jet boosters unfortunately Still kinda sad I was never able to get Voyager optimus, Shockwave, and Jetstorm/Fire to this day Funnily enough, Ratchet's deluxe along with Lockdown's are so far the most solid figures among the deluxes (at least among the ones I owned) since a large majority of joints back then were almost purely ball joints. And suprisingly compared to some later figures such as those in the woc/foc toyline, animated toys are very solid and don't break as easily
You have to get the Animated Lockdown, and then compare it to the Dark of the Moon Lockdown (who jumped the same design into the bayverse design) And since you've brought up about "tall" deluxes, Lockdown is in a class of his own, he's huge.
Happy new year PrimeVsPrime, I do have a repaint of the bounty hunter Lockdown from Japan. But I'm still waiting on the voyager animated OP next year 👍🎉
I bought my first Animated figure this year also with Blurr and he is an awesome figure too! If you are planning to collect more Animated Figures I highly recommend him!
Ah, i really miss Transformers Animated because during that time, Transformers Animated lots of pretty cool and good figure like this one 🥲. Hopefully you manage to find like Animated Blitzwing or Megatron, depends on you 🙂. Happy New Year, PrimevsPrime 😊.
I think Blackarachnia was my first Transformers Animated figure which I remember getting but I didn’t get much animated figures because I was mostly getting the 07 movie ones. Animated was the first Transformers show I watched after the 07 movie got me into the franchise. Still have some animated figures but they probably have parts missing.
I only have Blackarachnia, Waspinator and Core Bulkhead, and they are all still perfect. How will voyagers look in a couple of years? If Ironhide is anything to go by, they'll probably be core class sized and priced as leaders.
I used to have Ratchet, he's in pieces now, nly found his leg- but I do have the deluxe battle damaged Optimus from the Battle Begins two pack, without his smoke stacks or axe though- I love that optimus though, It's a lot of fun!
had this same ratchet figure. i also had bumblebee, blackarachnia, i also had a 2 pack of Optimus and Megatron and they had some cool battle damage and i still currently own animated jazz
I HOPE that they give us all of the animated characters... Bumblebee, ratchet, Optimus, prowl, and... Wait, we've already got bulkhead-!! But I do hope they keep the basic engineering of the upcoming animated figures
This video just made realize the bad idea Hasbro had by making a G1 version of Prowl in Legacy instead of just re-launching that super awesome Animated mold, cause just like Ratchet here, he satnds up very well even 15 years later
I hope the legacy does the cybertronian versions of the characters to, the fact we got both cybertronian and earth versions was one of my favorite parts of the animated toyline
🎉HAPPY NEW YEAR!🎉 What Animated figure would you guys like to see next? 🤩
Transformers animated lockdown
Lockdown would go so well with ratchet
Lockdown please! And if you have his "Blazing" retool, can you place his chainsaw on his left arm and use Blazing Lockdown's engine on Ratchet please?
They did a transformers prime rid Hot shot
I would actually want to see animated bumblebee
I think that the animated figures hold up well even today, I’m happy you could play with this thing since their figures are really accurate and fun imo.
I agree! The plastic on this is so good!
@@coolkagethe4th true statement

I’m always far more impressed with old figures than I am modern ones. Just so much good engineering, color separation, bang for your buck, etc.
The Animated line really was unique. I always liked how the show's cartoony designs were fully capable of being made into actual figures.
Happy new year Prime!! I’ve actually recently started rewatching animated and it’s just been a huge trip down nostalgia lane. For nearly 16 year old figures, they are scarily accurate. Looking forward to more of your throwback reviews!
Thanks so much! Happy new year to you too! Yesss I agree! So accurate! I’m gonna try my best to find some others

Oh damn haha I’m gonna have to track down lockdown now!

Animated figures are awesome. They are super accurate to the cartoon, and real fun to play with.
Animated still is one of the best TF shows ever made, everything went great. I'm glad that we're getting some updates this and next year.
Really glad you’re getting into Animated stuff! I’d love to see you review Magnus, Jazz, Wreck Gar, and Rodimus, as those are some of my favorites, and I’m sure you already have plans to review the big ones like Megatron, Prowl, etc.
i have this and the bulk head with a purple mask and i used to have a bumblebee with a drill thing man i used to love animated
I still own the three TFA Dinobots and Lugnut and they were really fun. I never got tired of playing with them. Amazing figures honestly
This is the first TFA figured I've ever held onto. It's my big brother's. Mine is the Voyager Cybertron Mode Megatron. Little brother got the Voyager Optimus Prime. The good old days.

Back in 2008 Ratchet was also my first TFA figure
Oh wow! That’s cool! He’s really nice
Been collecting TF toys since 84 and Leader Animated Bulkhead is one of my personal favorite ALL time. Built quality and scale is 🤌🏻
Happy New Year Prime Vs Prime
Thanks so much! Happy new year!
Over the holidays I rescued my TFA stuff from storage in my dad's attic now I have room to display them. Some of them are so sick
I have bits of Lockdown and Soundwave.
I loved the series, grew up with it, and it's honestly not a bad. For being post-war, it's definitely fun.
Glad you were able to get ahold of this guy PvP, him and all the other Animated figures are phenomenal! Animated has always been my favorite Transformers show, and honestly the figures have been my favorites as well. Phenomenal video as always, and happy new year!

such cool figures, remind me of childhood

the animated figures are insane, def check out the shockwave one along with jetstorm and jet fire, i think you’ll like those ones a lot
Love this toy line. Show accurate, posable and fun to transform. Perfect!
Started collecting them about 2 years ago. Have a small collection now, but they are really amazing figures
I have the TFA Snarl, and it is really well made, and a joy 😊 happy 2023!
This line was and us still one of my favorite lines they have made the style is so unique and looking at them it questions how they transform
I got my first animated figures this year and they are absolutely solid figures. Im happy to add them to by collection.
One animated figures I highly recommend tracking down are Oil Slick, Blitzwing, the dinobot trio, voyager Optimus, and the one I had as a kid but broke due to well...being a kid, deluxe bumblebee.
I still have all my animated transformers. One of my favorites was the Prowl with the samurai armor.
I got animated Elite guard Bumblebee at Hamilton Comic Con that was my first Transformers Animated figure and I think it holds up really well

Animated toy line was great! The way they kept the animated show look is exceptional
I miss Transformers Animated. I've seen their figurines on eBay, but they've gone so much in prices thanks to inflation.
Animated defines Transformers for Me for than anything considering it was my first series in the franchise. I’ll never forget it for introducing Me to what I believe is one of the greatest franchises in history, along with the Michael Bay movies.

Oh, and Wreak-gar as a garbage truck-deluxe of course!😃😃😃👍
This was my first Animated figure. Got him for 18€ with no accessories at a flea market. Great quality of plastic, but I hate the feet: they use to go inside the leg and makes it hard to stand straight.
Oil Slick, and Rodimus Prime, and Blackout would be great reviews

I remember having a TF Animated Optimus coolest part of my childhood.
The transformations are also quite accurate to how they transformed in the show.
I have Animated Soundwave in my collection. Fun figure. Would really love to get Animated Blitzwing. One of my favorites
I've got animated Soundwave, Shockwave, Lockdown, Lugnut... maybe a couple more? I think they're all great
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Finding both animated lugnut and Shockwave was an amazing experience and both for under $10
I used to have Bumblebee and Lockdown when I was a kid. Really nice figures.
I actually still have my TFA Ratchet and Bumblebee toy that I had as a kid, I remember that my ratchet for some reason didn't come with those weapons since they were never in the box when I opened it and in bumblebee's case, I lost his jet boosters unfortunately
Still kinda sad I was never able to get Voyager optimus, Shockwave, and Jetstorm/Fire to this day
Funnily enough, Ratchet's deluxe along with Lockdown's are so far the most solid figures among the deluxes (at least among the ones I owned) since a large majority of joints back then were almost purely ball joints. And suprisingly compared to some later figures such as those in the woc/foc toyline, animated toys are very solid and don't break as easily
I just got my first animated toy yesterday. It was lockdown, so much fun!
You have to get the Animated Lockdown, and then compare it to the Dark of the Moon Lockdown (who jumped the same design into the bayverse design) And since you've brought up about "tall" deluxes, Lockdown is in a class of his own, he's huge.
I have a few animated figures and they still hold up now and are pretty decent
Brother seeing this makes me want to dig out a few of mine. My local toy store has about 3 animated grimlocks for 25$. So tempted on buying one.
Happy New Years!!!! Also, if he’s reviewing TFA, then we still got a chance at Bulkhead!!!
Happy new year PrimeVsPrime, I do have a repaint of the bounty hunter Lockdown from Japan. But I'm still waiting on the voyager animated OP next year 👍🎉
I still got an animated Blitzwing and he still holds up well, just wish his cannons flipped over his shoulders much like the show
I bought my first Animated figure this year also with Blurr and he is an awesome figure too! If you are planning to collect more Animated Figures I highly recommend him!
I wish I had that Figure for my Transformers Synergy series but the Rescue version.
BTW,I have Jetfire and Jetstorm/Safeguard and it still holds up.
Hey primevsprime you're not the only one who's trying to track down animated action figures I'm going to do that too.
Dude, you don't actually flick the magnets with your finger... you bend at the elbow and that automatically deploys the magnets.
I used to have Ratchet, he's in pieces now, nly found his leg- but I do have the deluxe battle damaged Optimus from the Battle Begins two pack, without his smoke stacks or axe though-
I love that optimus though, It's a lot of fun!
had this same ratchet figure. i also had bumblebee, blackarachnia, i also had a 2 pack of Optimus and Megatron and they had some cool battle damage and i still currently own animated jazz
Animated Blitzwing is amazing. Love that figure
My first Animated figure was Sentinel Prime. Awesome vid!
Thank you mate! Sentinel looks really great!
