Lack of information if there will ever be new Raids is bit sad as someone who likes the GW2 Raids. The new Elite Specializations have been the most fun for me. Playing stuff like Engineer as whole or Specter is super fun. At the moment I got full berserker on my Engineer so I can do Dps, Alac and Qucikness as needed allowing me to flex on support roles as needed. I also have Healbrand now, Specter, Druid, Alac Renegade, BS, Hand kite and few others :D As someone who likes to chance what he plays almost weekly I have been loving the more build variety to the game ... Started doing Legendary Armor now that I feel I need it :3 so I have been grinding the Raids which comes to the thing I said I felt least favorite thing is lack of new raids :c If I would get one wish it would be 1 Raid per Expansion / Living world season ... They should make Raid as part of the Story of Expansions or Living Season. They could make Story raid, Normal Raid and CM Raid where Story Raid is same difficulty as current easy Strikes but with proper Story that shows you the mechanics and Normal Strike would be like the Harvest Strike and then Challenge Mode Raids :D But as it is now, I try to enjoy the new 4 strikes while I do legendary armor in old HoT raids :3
Regarding the Siege Turtle, one place I think it would be useful is the Drizzlewood Coast meta. I am not sure if they patched it out in the beta, but during the turtle beta, the turtles cannon work on the structures in that map which previously required the siege consummables like catapult, flame ram and charged. Not to mention its dps on Siege is better than the Demo charges. I haven't tried drizzlewood since beta but considering the debate on siege turtle power creeping siege consumables in Drizzlewood I'd imagine its still totally 100% relevant there. Especially against the Giant Tank
The turtle is better than remote charge. You can also use both at the same time. If you can use it before cannon gets it down it is lol. Only 2 turtles with gunners and you can clear a base very fast.
Story reception from a Guild Wars 2 player's perspective, best presentation IP they've ever done, though it is still shorter towards the end compared to what I'd like to have seen. I do agree that it is better for people to do the story in sequence, for more reasons than simply continuity. I was pleasantly surprised that the mobs in EoD made more use of boons, for example, so boon RIP becomes more important in the overworld content. The music is beautiful, I know many people might play MMOs with their own music, but I would say that it's worth playing a playthrough just listening to it normally. (I'm also a musician, so hear me out!) The elite specs in this patch seem to be a little bit more of a mixed bag, though I do believe that in time they will be adjusted accordingly. There are still many notably strong ones that are available right now, and I do think that for any outliers they will be adjusted soon in the balance patch that's coming up. Despite the buggy release, they have been very fast to fix many of the books that have come out since then. I'm pretty comfortable playing any of The Meadows now without having to worry about being unable to progress due to something outside of my control. Considering the final Mehta, I was able to beat it in before some of these changes took place, but I think that these changes are more positive than negative. Especially pausing the timer on the greens phase. I'm of the opinion that it is both inappropriately challenging meta and a metal that is too difficult for specifically the players who never engaged with any kind of instants content the entire time we've been playing the game. Because of course, Open World don't have to be super try-hard during most metas in order to succeed them. I don't mean that as a disparaging comment, it is simply the truth that many bosses can be overcome with relatively minimal or mediocre effort. I do think though, fat arenanet did not do the best job of ramping the difficulty in the Overworld Metas to show how beautifully difficult and engaging Guild Wars 2 combat can be when we finally decide to head over that hill. This particular Metta ought to be the prime example to any people who think that Guild Wars 2 is easy and then degree, and that's not even addressing the fact that every expansion has had legitimately noticeable - and appropriate - difficulty spikes. I am by no means trying to say that the people who are challenged by certain accessibility issues don't have legitimate concerns, especially those who have conditions like to color blindness which is a very distinct problem for the last meta - greens phases. Still, I joined a pug recently and was able to defeat the boss without being in voice comms. Frankly, I do agree that the general rewards need to be increased further, however the fight itself I think now after the recent changes, is absolutely perfectly balanced while still being accessible to the majority of players
Very well put, appreciate your input on several points here! Agree about the difficulty to show that GW2 isn't a "super casual" game as I've heard that plenty of times from folks who don't play it. Also, great to hear about it being balanced now. Haven't given it ago for while but will definitely check it out.
Regarding the breakbar comment on the turtle, you can use the emp while on the turtle so in the end it does a lot more constant cc on certain occasions
As for gliding and mounts: You can unlock basic gliding, raptor and springer with this expansion if you don't have it yet. The first map also has some tutorial stuff that can be helpful for new players. So I think you can actually buy EoD as your first expansion if you don't mind missing out on a huge chunk of the story (which is why I would recommend to do everything in the chronological order).
I think for the Siege Turtle Mount, it would be nice if the player has the ability to switch seats. If I wanted to use the cannons, I can switch seats at the cost of not being able to move. Something like that.
Absolutely and I'd love to be able to switch seats out of combat. That'll at least give solo players some purchase if they went out of their way to get one
Good and honest review. EOD has its flaws as you pointed out very well, but the good points surpass by far the negative points. I give this expansion 8.5/10 :)
I really don't understand the Dragons End fiasco, it is not as hard as a raid, nowhere near. With a a competent commander and squad it is completely doable. I agree that putting the turtle solely behind it was silly, and they did need to make a few adjustments, but they did both those things and anyone still upset about it is being simply petty, there are 4 metas in EOD (kind of 5 due to fort Aspenwood in Echovald essentially being a meta) and 4 of them are fairly easy and require little game knowledge, having 1 of them, which serves as a battle against a full Elder Dragon, be difficult is not bad at all imo. Also, while I agree its best to go through HoT and POF first, I dont think its due to gliding and mounts, you get a glider, a raptor, and a springer in EoD Overall, nice review, I personally love the expansion, I have 60 hours in it so far and I have not even left Cantha besides some Lions Arch trips. Bcos the average GW2 player isn't trained well for raid mechanics or coordination. You faceroll story mode and metas are mostly huge zerg fests. You're not required to go through stuff like fractals to learn coordination and mechanics.
You are wrong about the DE meta. It does not need raid builds or anything else besides basic knowledge of the classes. The average dps you need is like 7-10k when a raid build is expected to be like 20k-40k on bosses. It just requires some knowledge. Basically know what CC is and doing more things than just pressing the autoattack. And a very very good commander. It is a matter of coordination more than builds. Although i agree that it takes a bit too long it is not as challenging as people make it to out be.
Really don’t think it is really that hard. Just feels like most players got used to running easy metas with no fail mechanics to the point of forgetting how to play or care. It really felt like we were back to that pre HoT era where most people got used to basically farm silverwaste ad nauseam….
It's a good point and I do agree of course, coordination and knowledge are top of the list. My experience of being in squads that gatekeep builds during the first week is where I'm coming from. Most commanders in my timezone want conventional meta builds, and at the time no one knew just what to expect yet. I'm sure this is no longer the case though!

I hated the story, and the mechanist is the only elite spec that's worth the price of admission. The others are pretty squishy with trading post gear (haven't tried warrior, guardian, or rev elites, yet, will try will beander even though I hate melee in this game).
What do you mean by Trading Post Gear? Specter is extremely durable if you run open world build that has Vitality for examples Plague Doctor's or Celestial. Those also give Healing power so you will have amazing healing. You feel like playing Necromaner or Reaper. The one thing Specter Lacks is good AOE dmg. You are about locked to using Traps and Wells as wel Shroud for AOE dmg. the 3333 spam you do is single target. I talk about this as someone who loves Engineer and played Specter for few weeks straight. While engineer's mech is durable running full berserker will get you downed fast as any other professions beside Reaper, Nercomancer or Specter :^) but if you do open world build that has Vitalit/Toughness for loss of personal DPS non of the professions you mentioned feel squishy. Are you sure you don't mean "Trading Post Gear" = full berserker? As that would be one of the cheaper options? But then again runnign something like Shaman's would still give you condition dmg while getting vitality to be more tanky and healing power to be able to heal yourself via few specific traits if needed ... You can easily pick a lot of self healing for cost of dmg.
@@xezzee Sorry, yes, I meant exotics and 'poor mans' stuff (nothing above 2g). Plague and Celestial aren't even on my radar because of the price. I'm playing virtuoso now, and will try shaman gear to see if it makes a difference performance. Thanks for the helpful advice, you've given me hope.
@@duberdurm Open World builds are more durable and focus more self sustain rather than damage. Taking something like Shaman's as Scourge Minionmancer is always fun or Knight's for Holosmith might be interesting idea. Some item stat combinations indeed are 10 gold each while others can be as low as 40 silver so you can always look up from GW2 Wiki the attribute combinations to see what options you have

Expansion so far is 8/10 but i might give it 9/10 when i will finish all achievements.
