I just wish they'd start doing fractional buffalos again. I think it'd be the most popular coin to buy today but it'd be nice to have a security feature on them since they'd be easily counterfeited
@@roysakic5475 it really is. I'm working on filling a tube of frac eagles and can't compete it soon enough and start switching things up. Probably go after some fractional bars.
I love both coins, but my preference on purely esthetic grounds is the gold Buffalo. I absolutely LOVE that design, but I do agree that the Gold American Eagle does have the minor advantages mentioned in the video. I have held both in hand and just enjoyed the look and feel of the Buffalo a wee bit more. Such a fabulous bullion coin and a great tribute to the classic Buffalo Nickel!
Buffalos are beautiful. The color of the metal and the design are just awesome. Then again the gold eagle is much more sturdy so you can hold it in your hand without a capsule. I say get some of each.
Have to say the Buffalo slightly edges out the AGE because of its 24kt composition and better overall look.I have found that traveling internationally with these and selling that they are top tier and highly desirable, always gotten well above what I pay when sold abroad
When I started buying gold over a decade ago, both Eagles and Buffalos were going for $80 to $100 over spot while anybody with a slightly creative mind could buy Maples for $40 to $50 under spot (yes under). I could never justify the premium for either US coin but still bought some along the way when they (rarely) went on sale and the premium was more in line with other coins.
well i bought a 2014 Canadian 1/10th ounce 5 blessings this month and i couldn't be happier with it oh and it's .9999 they didn't have any eagles they had this, a maple, and a krug but i had to get this one cause i'd never seen it before there's also only 2000 minted
Buffalo for me, love the hue. I’m fortunate to have both of these, I’m now up to 4x Buffalo’s, and 3X type 2 Eagles. Both beautiful American coins, you can’t go wrong with either. However my LCS says Buffalo! New sub from here Commiefornia
I like both but depends on the premium or if one of them is on sale. Last gold i bought was a Buffalo in April from online bullion dealer that ended up being slabbed (NGC MS69).
People are still not getting that the Eagle actually **weighs more** than the Buffalo because of the added copper-silver alloy. That is why it can contain an ounce of pure 24k gold even the though the coin is 22k. Also, the purpose of the added alloy is to greatly increase the **durability** of the coin-that’s the primary reason it is there, not to change the color or to act as a counterfeit deterrent.
“Because four nines.” I can’t believe you said that. Jesus. What don’t you understand? The Eagle contains one ounce of 24k JUST LIKE the Buffalo. The Eagle has **additional** weight in the form of the small amount of silver-copper alloy to increase durability, but it has the same amount of gold.
@@byteme0000they don't get it. They work around the facts to satisfy their lack of knowledge and poor thinking and analytical skills! Or more plainly, they don't have nor have developed those skills because they like to stick to a false non scientific belief system.
@JTorres34 1 oz of weight is 1 oz of weight. 1 oz doesnt change. Its a physical measurement of weight. Its 1 oz of gold. The eagle coins overall weight will be more than 1 oz, to make up for the added metals, to equal 1 full oz of gold inside the coin, and a few grams of whatever on top of its weight added.
I like both, but its buffalo for me. I see it as if I'm trying to barter or sell it to someone who's unfamiliar with the two, one would be more hessitant to take the not pure vs pure. But then, you can explain to them that the eagle has more metal value with silver and copper added 🤔 I just like to keep it simple.
Happens to me regularly. Only if I catch it it gives me the option to select from a choice of Three words and if it is not an English word in the dictionary it's not automatically correct I still have to choose from the selection of three choices to change the one I typed in before it will not automatically change it based on the correct spelling. I have a nice Motorola smartphone and yes other brands I have never had this problem. And in messages from months past I would spell it out and as I continue typing if it changes I could go back fix it or choose from a previous spelled out word or name and then it would allow me to move on without any auto corrections
Works great for regular words and grammar, just not names and words not regularly used like a state or perhaps a slang word spelled differently from the correct spelling.
Hello Speg , I hope you are having a super excellent weekend , pure gold is always the best where I live , any gold that’s not pure in Australia incurs extra GST tax , if I lived in America I would pick the eagle 👍
They are both beautiful coins but I personally like the Buffalo design the best. If they'd use the original St. Gaudens design my opinion would be different but I don't see that happening. It's funny that some folks don't think there's as much gold in an Eagle. I've encountered that too and I have no idea what these people are thinking
I am new to stacking but please address these two questions: 1. When the Eagle and the Buffalo are put on a good quality scale, Is there any weight difference between the two? I suspect the Eagle to actually weigh a little more than the Buffalo, which might make the Eagles posses the full 1oz of 24k gold if melted down. 🤞 2. Regarding the $50 Gold denomination of the Eagle vs the $1 denomination of the Silver Eagle. I know the Gold to Silver ratio changes, but could 50:1 Silver to Gold ratio be the intended nominal/rational/natural ratio between the two metals? I recently bought two 1oz Gold Eagles. I am kinda wishing now I would have purchased one of each. Great video, Thanks.
jm bullion is one company who openly posts buy-back prices and the spread is smaller on the gold eagle, larger on the buffalo. Right now the eagle would be the better of the two.
*_The primary reason this coin has other metals_* *_Durability and Wear Resistance_* _• Gold’s Softness: Pure gold is relatively soft and prone to wear and scratching. Would there be a problem buying and selling scuffed coins, or with abrasions ?? That way there would be no worry about handling them or having them in plastic. It still is 1 oz of Gold either way??? Just asking.
I love both of them, both beautiful for different reasons. The purity of the 24k Buffalos I love but the copper spots bother me. It makes me wonder if Maples copper spot also?
31.103 gs of AU is a troy ounce. They are the same, with the exception of Soegs couple coins. Bullion round vs. a numismatic round. Second the hardness of the eagle due tonthe added copper gives it a harder finished gold oroduct and ultimately less easily damaged. Love the videos Speg!!!

Gold Buffalo 90 percent of the time Gold Eagles 20 percent since new design is not great for me looks like chicken head outside my choice would be Brittiana 99 percent just beautiful
Gold eagle is cheaper and you get more precious metal, its backed by the United States, and is highly liquid around the world. Pure gold may look better, but for an investment I prefer the Eagle.

I prefer Eagles, but my next purchase will be a Buffalo just because I'd like to have one to hold and look at.
Nothing wrong with mixing it up a little 😊
i really want the mint to make 1/4oz gold buffalos again. though i'd like to see them in the gold eagle composition.
1/4oz gold buffalos & other fractionals were so unpopular they discontinued minting them same as the Platium Eagles

So on the international market they prefer Buffalo 24k than the minted sovereign eagles?
True because they are 24k
Treated better in middle east for example
Another good point of conversation here is the pros/cons to finishes available, proof /reverse proof/ uncirculated/ burnished etc.
I wish the mint would make at least a 1/2 oz Buffalo as well. I'd even like a 1/4 oz too. :)
They did this in 2008, but these are collectible and very costly.

weighs more because of other base metals, thats it
I go with the Buffalo and it's .999+ purity. Same reason why I'd go with a Maple or Brit over a Krugerrand
The buffalo is NOT 999. If you have a 999 buffalo you own a fake.

pure gold always

Yes, slightly pricier for proofs.
