I usually stack gold 1oz Krugerrands - recognized worldwide, and have been circulating forever. However! I just picked up my first Buffalo today - and what a beautiful coin. I think it deserves a spot in everyone's collection/stack.
Regarding 4:48, although the American Gold Eagle and the South African Krugerrand are both 22k gold coins, their compositions are different. The American Gold Eagle is made from 91.67% gold, 5.33% copper & 3% silver which give it a golden color. On the other hand, the South African Krugerrand is made from 91.67% & 8.33% copper which gives a red gold color.

Yup.. wish i had a buffalo gold coin.. but its way out of my price range lol.. hands down tho.. i think the Buffalo is the one to get.. just Beautiful.. thanks for sharing.. ✌😎💙
American Gold Buffalo 9999 is AWESOME! American Gold Eagles 91.67 are cool too. Both are about the same price. Buffalo is a higher relief coin compared to the AGE. AGE has fractional denomination.
For silver I would take Maples over anything else, mostly because of the mint shield, highest face value and .9999 with security features, is just the best clean and consistent well known all-round silver coin ever made.. For gold I like the 22k Liberty and the 22k Britannia with so much expression and movement, good durability and both aesthetics compliment each other very well, they also both represent being a coin, much more than the buffaloes in my opinion.. But then all things considered, the Maples might still be the all-round winner, it is just so consistent and clean with a great radial light refraction feature, it just outperforms anything else with its simplicity - I do not have bias for any country at all, just looking at undeniable beauty which a smelly Bison is not =P
For the Buffalo, why are some years more expensive than others? Also, I am trying to fill up a tube of Buffalos. Is there an advantage to buying years, ie, 2006,2007,2008...2021? Thank you.
Anyone know the answers to my questions? Thanks in advance. Is the gold Buffalo 1 oz MS-69 worth getting to pay a premium? I see some utuber treat MS-69 as nothing special. They break it out of a case. Are MS-69 for resell get any premium when comes to resell? MS-70 vs MS-69 1 oz Buffalo...how much premium can we get when compared between the two when we sell them to private buyer and dealer?
MS69 wouldn’t have any extra premium. I wouldn’t personally pay any additional premium for any bullion coin even at 70 and a local coin shop won’t pay more either. You might hook a private buyer on eBay for more if it’s a proof.
I’m happy to say I bought my first buffalo today. It was hard to pony up the money but I feel you pay less in premium and in California if you purchase bullion over $1,500 it’s tax exempt so more money to save. Thanks for getting me hooked on these, question though my coin isn’t as yellow as yours? Do you think it’s because of lighting?
@@2is1gold I have a 2006 that I purchased from a LCS a while ago. I was going through my stack and realized the color is a little off on the 2006 and it’s really crappy quality compared to a 2020 or 2021. The weight checks out and the ping test checks out the diameter it’s good. I didn’t know if you had seen or have any 2006s, if they were all rough when they first started striking them? When I say rough I don’t mean the texture is rough, I just mean the rim is very non-uniform and it has a darker almost toning on the coin.
If they mix copper or silver in with the Gold to make it more durable, then what happens when the copper and silver corrode while it's in the Gold coin? Or will that happen?
You'll see slight discoloration. You can see 90% gold coins that are hundreds of years old. I don't think you have to worry about corrosion of the alloy. Cheers!
New subscriber and a new stacker of the Buffalo coin. Why are the prices of say the 2022 year buffaloes cheaper than previous years? Shouldn't it be the other way? Cheers from Denver Colorado!
💯 But I still won’t buy it, personally. Okay, maybe I’d buy one. Only a fraction of a fraction of the public would know the coin. Especially, here in middle America. I want as many potential buyers as possible. SC might be more metropolitan! 🎩 😂
I've never seen a TH-camr talk about Turkish gold coins. Is it because it's from a different region (altho Francs also from a different region but seen them many times in TH-cam vids from American stackers) or is there something else why people seem to avoid it? Thank you for your reply
2 is 1 Yes I voted for the Buffalo because it's such a beautiful coin. I still love the AGE then the Maple. Your high relief Liberty is definitely growing on me me the more I see it. I'd only pick one up if I could find a good deal. Every time I've ever seen them for sail on line or at a coin show the mark up has been astronomical.
Put aside the Britannias for a while and just started stacking the Buffalo, awaiting my first one from SD. Love the ruggedness of the Buffalo compared to the refinement of the Britannia, can't wait to see the contrast in person once I have these two coins side-by-side. 1=0
I bought a pair of “first spouse” 1/2 oz proof gold coins recently. .9999. They’re beautiful coins but definitely not as exciting as the buffalos & eagles. The first spouse were originally sold as collector items (probably way overpriced) but I got a good deal at just over spot.
I love the silver Canadian Maple Leaf - best basic gov bullion silver coin around - but I never loved the gold version of the Canadian Maple Leaf. Those 1 oz. gold coins are just too small for my taste. In 1 oz. gold the US dominates for sure with the gold Buffalo as its best effort and the 1 oz. gold Eagle as a close second, but let's not forget Great Britain. Those Queen's Beasts look truly fantastic in any format.
I think you mede the buffalo 🦬 gold coin Popular Have them because of your awesome videos I only have 5 do But also have 1/4 eagles Love them just as much
I know that American bullion is the easiest to sell in the United States, but I just can't help myself... The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins are absolutely stunning. They are simply my favorite, but that doesn't mean I stack them exclusively.
That’s not true here in the US - all gold coin sales are subjected capital gains, AGEs just aren’t subject to 1099-b reporting from a dealer - but they’re still probably the best choice here.
@@2is1gold I could be wrong but the 1099-b is required only on gold transactions above $10k. Which is quickly becoming tricky with gold spot being at record highs. I would imagine it still applies in private transactions as well. That is if you believe taxation is moral.
Just received my first Gold Buffalo 2020. It is uneven. The edge has varying thickness. It is so annoying. I'm so tired of buying online and getting bad quality. Would you return if possible or keep it?
May be off topic for this title but it’s got me thinking. Is there a formula you would use to buy gold based on income? Would you treat buying gold coins the same as you would when putting cash in your savings? Would that process of thinking work in the long run?
I know people have mentioned reserving a percentage of income for metals, but I don't do that. I go at it more from the angle of what I can comfortably budget. And then I make sure I stick to it.
I just bought my 1st 1oz gold coin and with a bit of hesitation I decided on the buffalo. Based on looks alone it would've been between the Maple and almost any Perth mint gold coin. The .9999 fine with the maple leaf or just about any perth design looks the absolute best imo but being my first 1oz purchase I leaned toward the buffalo so I could have a mixture of the 24k with sovereign coin.
I want to buy my first buffalo gold coin for my birthday, can I ask , how much does it cost ? I have seen many prices online ( I am a noob that doesn't know a lot ) , haven't check if any gold coin stores near me have them (if they do ) , and can I buy a gold coin with cash ?
@@reinaldonavarro3800 if you find a coin shop you can most likely get the best price from one of those with cash. However beware not all coin shops are best price. Unfortunately I do not have a local coin shop (aka LCS) near me. I buy mostly from reputable online bullion dealers. Herobullion, SDBullion, JMBullion, Apmex, BoldPreciousMetals, Provident Metals, are some of the larger most reputable ones. I personally prefer SD, Hero, and JM. JM has been a bit high with prices lately but them and Apmex usually have the biggest variety. SD and Hero usually have some of the best pricing. Now is a pretty hectic time because of the constant changing in spot prices. I would check all of the above and find the least expensive. You can also avoid paying higher costs by choosing to pay via wire transfer or electronic check. Using a debit or credit card will cost more. Deposit your cash in your checking account and use electronic check payment method. When I purchased my 1st buffalo a cpl months ago the gold spot price was around $1928 and I paid $2006. It was on sale for the $2006. It will be cheaper now with spot price in the $1800s. You can buy other 1oz gold coins for a bit less like the Britannia or Krugerrand. Hope this helps! Once you start accumulating gold and silver and start holding it in your hands it gets addictive! But it's a great way to preserve your wealth. 👍
Used some of the stimulus money to buy another one of these. Do you think it was a wise choice? The way I see it i’m just switching money for a different form. At least it’s nicer to hold and look at lol.
This is very informative. Thank you. I'm new to investing in gold. What is a 100% safe way for me to buy buffalos? I'm scared I'm going to get a fake. I want to get them at spot price too.
I have many Buffs [my favorite 4-9 coin] but a question persists. Didn't all US mint coins have to have an eagle on it by law? The Franklin half dollar with the beautiful liberty bell obverse had a tiny eagle added [in an ugly way] to adhere to this law. Ok, the buff has no eagle anywhere. Did that law sunset or did it change over the years? Love the Buffalo but I'm in the plains area of the southwest and 'bison' roam freely once again.

I bought a 1oz Gold Buffalo however I would really like variety in my gold so in the future I'm going to be getting a maple then an eagle.
Silver Saint those are the big three for me. I’d be content with only those coins. Cheers!
Don't forget the brittania!
yeah Buffalos hands down for the whole oz and Eagles for your fractional stack.smartest way to stack gold
Like minds...
I stick to 1oz gold coins, I don't need fractional gold because I have silver lol.
Eagles are so popular because the 22 karat gold is more durable, but I love the buffaloes.
And they're far more familiar to people. Eagles are the smarter choice. Buffalos are just really nice looking. :)
So is it okay and safe to handle gold bullion
Stunning coin
Love the Buffs! 👍👍👍
We’re is the best to buy 1 once 2020 buffalo local coin shop or direct U.S mint could you tell me pls, I’m thinking start stacking gold now thanks
The best is a local coin shop if they have them. SD Bullion and other online dealers have decent pricing if not. Cheers!
2 is 1 thanks
I will say the new 2021 Britannia is pretty sick!
💯 But I still won’t buy it, personally. Okay, maybe I’d buy one. Only a fraction of a fraction of the public would know the coin. Especially, here in middle America. I want as many potential buyers as possible. SC might be more metropolitan! 🎩 😂
Absolutely beautiful my favorite American coin although I prefer maples
Two of my favorites!
I've never seen a TH-camr talk about Turkish gold coins. Is it because it's from a different region (altho Francs also from a different region but seen them many times in TH-cam vids from American stackers) or is there something else why people seem to avoid it? Thank you for your reply
2 is 1
Yes I voted for the Buffalo because it's such a beautiful coin.
I still love the AGE then the Maple.
Your high relief Liberty is definitely growing on me me the more I see it.
I'd only pick one up if I could find a good deal.
Every time I've ever seen them for sail on line or at a coin show the mark up has been astronomical.
Looks like we have the same thoughts!
Britannia they’re also very beautiful and supposedly great counterfeit hologram
U need an out the front Microtech Halo 2 for the knife.
do you have a link on where i can buy one?
Put aside the Britannias for a while and just started stacking the Buffalo, awaiting my first one from SD. Love the ruggedness of the Buffalo compared to the refinement of the Britannia, can't wait to see the contrast in person once I have these two coins side-by-side. 1=0
I think you'll love it. Cheers!
@@2is1gold I do! Just ordered my 3rd Buffalo. Will be stacking these along with the Britannias exclusively.
I have to agree I like the buffalo too. But I only have the reverse proof and proof buffalo.. I think I sold all my Eagles those are plentiful.
Silver4Life 1230 they’re easy to sell!
Do you verify your coins with a Sigma or XRF?
Sometimes. I don't have my own Sigma, though. (Might address that soon.)
I bought a pair of “first spouse” 1/2 oz proof gold coins recently. .9999. They’re beautiful coins but definitely not as exciting as the buffalos & eagles. The first spouse were originally sold as collector items (probably way overpriced) but I got a good deal at just over spot.
I saved my money finally got one and the edges are all uneven is that normal or did I get a shit one
Susan Pritchett it’s common.
I extremely love your videos and advice. Merci beaucoup !
De rien!
@@2is1gold a pleasure :)
Fast question : you are not too much into silver ...?
@@ikust007 I'm not a big fan of silver.
@@2is1gold because of the overall better value of gold ...? Extremely hard for me to buy ...:(
I have that exact "big scary knife"...it's like a fixed blade Sebenza.
I’ve had to work hard to not get sucked into the QB series! They look great. So do the Britannias.
I think you mede the buffalo 🦬 gold coin
Popular
Have them because of your awesome videos
I only have 5 do
But also have 1/4 eagles
Love them just as much
They grow on you!
My first 1 oz is the buffalo. My second full oz was 1/4 oz eagles
Nice! My picks exactly!
I don’t like the maple because of it size , their size is small but thick. Buffalo all the way .
I like 32mm too because most of my coins are that size. Cheers!
Ironically, those are good traits in a girl
The Buffalo is No Bull! The 1/4 AGE rocks too. I'd love a 50 Pesos and 1oz Britannia too.
All true!
I know that American bullion is the easiest to sell in the United States, but I just can't help myself... The Canadian Gold Maple Leaf coins are absolutely stunning. They are simply my favorite, but that doesn't mean I stack them exclusively.
They're my favorite aesthetically as well. Cheers!
the American Gold Eagle... if I understand correctly you do not have to pay any taxes on profit on reselling or capital gains when you resell
That’s not true here in the US - all gold coin sales are subjected capital gains, AGEs just aren’t subject to 1099-b reporting from a dealer - but they’re still probably the best choice here.
@@2is1gold actually you are right....I always thought no capital gains on the eagles🤦♂️😂
Druzhina Coc Coc only if you buy and sell privately, I suppose. That’s why people make a big deal out of the 1099-b form.
@@2is1gold I could be wrong but the 1099-b is required only on gold transactions above $10k. Which is quickly becoming tricky with gold spot being at record highs. I would imagine it still applies in private transactions as well. That is if you believe taxation is moral.
@@bigkanak797 the 1099-B is based on weight or face value and changes depending on the precious metals in question.
Just received my first Gold Buffalo 2020. It is uneven. The edge has varying thickness. It is so annoying. I'm so tired of buying online and getting bad quality. Would you return if possible or keep it?
Uneven edge is relatively common with Gold Buffalos. Is it bad?
@@2is1gold I don't have a precise caliper, but I can see it with the naked eyes very easily. I will try to get a better one 😑
@@Libertaerin so strange that this is common on Buffalos!
I’d be interested to hear what you do that enables you to afford saving so much
I own a business. Nothing huge.
Great choice!
Good video. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
My favourite coin hands down
🤜🤛
Gold Buffalo is nice, very cool BUT the Gold Maple is still nicer. Both are nice. The Gold Eagle is ok but nothing beats PURE Gold.
🤜🤛
i just bought a bunch of soveriegns and older 1800 gold quarters... and i came across these... very nice i think i started an addiction...
Here in North Dakota we say "Bizon" ;)
😄
Do you pronounce resource as rezource?
This is very informative. Thank you. I'm new to investing in gold. What is a 100% safe way for me to buy buffalos? I'm scared I'm going to get a fake. I want to get them at spot price too.
What about British Sovereign....divisible, .2534 AGW 18 kt, low premiums over melt 80 million plus minted over 300 years,
I missed the poll but not this beautiful eye candy.
My late vote is for The US Gold Buffalo!
You need to be a book narrator . Awesome voice.
Ha, thank you!
buffalo my next purchase, picked up a 1924 20$ double eagle yesterday
Nice!
Good to see u are also a crk fan
Great eye! It's a lot easier to ID my Sebenzas! Cheers!
@@2is1gold same interests😀 i have 4 sebenzas and 2 bufflalos
Juniper Wang four, wow! Two 21s for me, one in each size. The new 31s have me looking at damascus blades again!
Very awesome stack 🐂🐃😃✌️
Thanks!
I don't know all the specifics without Googling, but I know there was a law passed specifically authorizing the Buffalo design.
You can go with that 495 First spouse or first ladies it’s much cheaper than a gold buffalo as far as bad price
They're my number 4. In order of numbers held:
1) U.K. Sovereigns
2) French Napoleons
3) Krugerrands
4) Gold Buffaloes.
