We visited Leavenworth right after moving back to the states from Germany. Everyone kept telling us "visit Leavenworth" it's just like Germany. Uh no it isn't. Its an Americanized version of Germany. As we walked all over town our kids kept asking where's the German part? Also, steins are only sold to tourists in Germany. They use bechers.
Yes, it’s definitely Americanized. The city took on its Bavarian theme in the 1960s to attract tourists and support its economy. It can’t possibly be as authentic as the real thing.
