Bravo...
I'm 37 years old. 14 days ago I was taking heroin, smoking coke and drinking my life away and I had been doing this for a long time. 16 days ago I rediscovered classical music. I called my parents whom had been trying to get me into treatment for a long time. I realised that music is what gives me real emotional enjoyment not drugs. I said to my parents I have to give up now. Please get me out of Bristol but not a detox or rehab. I'm on a boat with my parents, my two dogs and the wildlife of the Norfolk Broads. Cruising down the rivers listening to all these classics has given me a new lease on life. A life where I can finally see a drug free future.
This is definitely a masterful classic music work, composed by one of the greatest German composers of the last century, Carl Heinrich Maria Orff, it seems that he was inspired by the Gods of Olympus. I like so much this version.

Its mix of women, children and men in many different ages and all those musical instruments.. in perfect harmoni.. all this makes this amazing, masterpiece of all Times!
When those children were featured singing I darn-near fell out'a my chair ... but then back to vintage. This is beyond no doubt a classic. Son-of-a bitch I live in Missouri and have not been to a concert in many years; however, should this crew come near my local I will book transportation and ticket fair! Son-of-a gun I am now nearly "vintage-aged" but now feel like a kid in a candy factory. Perhaps the magic of music, or just the meaning of music? This concert was great! And again, thank's for the post.
I 've heard many Carmina's and indeed this one is to my liking. However, I am every time astonished how brilliant the recording of Eugen Jochem is. It is hard to surpass singers like Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Gundula Janowitz. It is nice to see the many reactions and that Carl Orff's composition brings so much joy to so many. Enjoy the music and find your favorite recording.
Rinus 1951 I too am listening to this performance and, like you, recall the Deutsche Grammafon recording to which you refer. I much prefere Gundula Janowitz.
What an experience it was to have been there when these folk made this music? I was not there when these tunes were played but I am very happy that I was so lucky to have observed in TH-cam format. Thanks for the post. Thanks most for the "crew".
The sounds were alien and foreign. My ears have never imagined such sounds before. I couldn't understand, how can one man come up with such a composition? Now I can add one more to my favorite operas and chorus classics.

I sang this work many times in my professional career (the Swan), including one time in Los Angeles with a Grammy winner, singing the baritone part, but I must say this young baritone is the best I've heard, he really understands this as the piece of theatre it really is, and even if the audience couldn't understand his words, he gave them a very good idea of what he was singing about, BRAVO!

I attended Carmina Burana yesterday in Warsaw, Poland. Piece of art. Experience I'll never forget, it's hard to put into words how it made me feel. During O Fortuna I felt like I was literally flying few meters above the ground...
I agree with the comments. This is a fantastic performance. The soloist are wonderful. That countertenor and the bass/baritone really great. So glad that this was posted.
Genius. One of the best versions I have ever listened to. Performance at 35:00 is suberb. Every time I listened to Carmina Burana I got scared. It is musical, but enigmatic and dark.
This is absolutely without parallel! All these incredible artists together have managed to convey the wide range of human emotions (from the profound to the debauched) which Carl Orff expertly sought to bring to life with this, his magnum opus. Thank you... for this phenomenal treat 😊
42 now and listening to this since i am 16. Such joy. I alo So am in love with thaikovsky. Ouvertüre 1812 especially. Found a beautiful clasic channel and listhrough that to Chopin a lot nowadays, as it calms one down so much. On a sidenote: i am a true Hiphop fan through and through. Not so much nowadays, but music has endless power.
Loved this version...great interpretation! Truly enjoyed the Tenor and Baritone's performances, but I had difficulty getting into the Soprano's performance. I am NOT a huge fan of that particular performance style. There should have been 2 female singers as it is written for a contralto, or a very good 2nd Soprano, and a very sweet coloratura. I could deal with most of her performance, but she just screamed one ofvthe most beautiful dolcissimo's written (short section just before the ending movements). That movement should cause tears to roll down your cheeks with the awe and beauty of her lament. This just made me cry in pain.
We performed this at my high school, Cass Tech, in Detroit, back in the mid-60's, under the direction of Italo Taranta. This video brought back great memories. Thank you! -John
Truly this is the DIAMOND of all the performances of Carmina Burana on youtube. The three soloists are all stars of exceptional talent and together with the choir of mature singers and the gifted musicians of this fabulous orchestra, bring great depth, emotion and dynamics to the performance, transporting the audience to a state of absolute wonderment. One can actually feel their love for this grand piece of work by Carl Orff. Bravo.....and how fortunate when one comes across superlatively great performances such as this one!
Couldn't have said it better. I've been hunting for different versions, and listening to some live ones. This one takes the cake. Absolutely brilliant.
Angeli Alvares I find myself sitting in my chair. Headphones on. I'm transported to another dimention. Totally inmessed by the music. Very dramatic but very soulful x
This is the most spectacular interpretation, congrats performers, remarcable performance, let's dedicate this EPIC event those who are not your fans yet wishing you everybody come back with the REPLAY happening & let them such expressive compositions make of our lives a better place, eternal gratitude awesome performers indeed, big loving hug musicians, bravo bravo bravo, congrats, thank you sharing guys, bringing true good music world wide, this is what we need the most

The choice of reproposing a massive "unicum" of music and drama, a piece that is so dense and whose parts are so tightly interwined, is laudable beyond any means. In a world which promotes "fast" things and relegates to the shadow whatever requires time and labour to be assimilated, the bulk of Carmina Burana is not going to meet the favours of the great public. However, after listening to this rendition, made curious by the number of positive comments here, I fear that people have again committed to the "2010s syndrome": they have been looking with marvel at the enormous orchestra and have been ear-caught by a generic feeling of exotically-sounding "piece" and have decided that their first impression was enough to declar this as "the best rendition of Carmina Burana". I beg to differ, and quite a lot, to be honest. Carmina Burana are a work of poetry that carries unto us the customs and the innermost secrets of an era which was totally different from ours and the symphonic poem by Orff does an UNIQUE miracle of being able to draw a full-compass picture of this world, by putting into music the words of these forgotten rhymes. Therefore, Orff's Carmina Burana is not the umptenth pseudo-operatic work aimed to the blatantly ignorant masses of posh opera theatre-attenders. Orff's intention was to explain Carmina Burana to the public, interpolating the text with his music. As trivial as this may sound, this purpose was totally defied by this performance. Words are barely audible and definitely not intelligible by audience. The whole performance seem to care more about spectacularising the performers and the director than to emphasize the message of the underlying poetry. To add injury, the singing is also scarcely precise, especially in the first two movements, which incidentally are performed at a highly arbitrary pace, quite in contrast witht the rest of the rendition, which adds practically nothing to the most acclamated performances, eventually resulting almost flat and lifeless. What I get is the terribly bad impression that these guys exploited the bovine ignorance of today's public (which loses attention after 10 minutes of true music) and boosted the performance with some fancy details (fast tempo, altered rhythm...) to impress the idea "ohhh fascinatingly new" in the mind of people, who then paid no attention to the rest of the performance. In this big cauldron there are sex dances, love songs, lamentations of heart-broken people, songs of whores, jokes made in taverns and religious chants. It should be a kaleidoscope of emotions, it should let people be amazed that people could be so polyhedric during the middle ages. Instead, what one can get from this performance is a cold note-playing and word-shouting from people who clearly ignore the meaning of the verses and have no clue about the feeling behind them. It is shameful to hear "Aestuans interius" sung with the same tone all throughout, in such a dreary way that I wonder if the singer has ever consulted a dictionary to understand the meaning of sentences like "iocus est amabilis" or "quidquid Venus imperat labor est suavis". Slightly better with the tenor singing in falsetto during the "cooked swan song", but again there is a real lack of understandment from the choir. The "mock intonatio" by the drunken abbas is simply ridiculous, like they saw someone else doing some gestures during this performance and decided to copy them without even realising that who speaks is a drunken priest who is emulating the intonation of a psalm. Of course not everything is bad; orchestral work is generally quite good and the instrumental players are very engaged; alas, this is not enough to deliver a meaningful performance of this beautiful, unimitable piece of art.
@@PatrickTrentin Sure. Apart from the traditional recordings (studio made), the most famous and celebrated of which date back to the 50s, the 70s and the early 80s, there is a recent performance here: th-cam.com/video/Adrw-zxiTe4/w-d-xo.html Even if they performed the piano and percussion reduction, you can hear that the voice control is much better (compare Fortnuae plango vulnera, for example).
Just saw Carmina Burana enacted as a ballet at the Rio de Janeiro´s Municipal Theater, in Brazil. There are no words to describe the magnificence of the presentation.
Bravo...

My life started when I discovered classical music and started learning the violin. Never look back! 🥰
I'd like to recommend Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No.2. It's the most profound. No word can express. And Beethoven Symphony's No.9. Just Great.
Wonderful to hear about your new journey. For me classical music makes my heart soar!
Bendiciones por siempre

IT DOESN"T GET BETTER . BEAUTIFULLY DONE, WONDERFUL INTERPRETATION , FABULOUS CONTROL .
What a great Choir and Orchestra! I just like very - very much the first and opening song, it is one my favorite. ❤🍷😊
Completely amazing! The BEST!
This piece, composition as well as execution, is laced with medieval emotion! It is so out of this world!
In composition technique and performance setup it is so stark 20th century, in particular the rythms and syncopes.
Ive been looking and looking for this exact performance. So happy to have found it again!!! Haven’t heard it interpreted better

Hello Sir, Lino your comment, participated singing or playing, I am a cellist and a lover of classical music. Pleasure talking to you sir.

Apart from the traditional recordings (studio made), the most famous and celebrated of which date back to the 50s, the 70s and the early 80s, there is a recent performance here: th-cam.com/video/Adrw-zxiTe4/w-d-xo.html
Even if they performed the piano and percussion reduction, you can hear that the voice control is much better (compare Fortnuae plango vulnera, for example).
My apologies, the good recording I was mentioning was from late 60s, not 50s (it is the one directed by Jochum, which also Orff himself approved)

Excellent performances by ALL!
Just saw Carmina Burana enacted as a ballet at the Rio de Janeiro´s Municipal Theater, in Brazil. There are no words to describe the magnificence of the presentation.
Wonderful recording!
