Front Tipping Hood Hinges Rat Rod Part 27

- In this video the grill and hood come together on old crow. I design some cool front tipping hood hinges, which looks sweet and is a great way to service the motor, but I'm not feeling the headlights or placement. I still need to come up with something there. If you have any ideas on the lights, please leave a comment below! I also finish up some other loose ends, like painting the back deck lid and playing with a faux patina paint job out of a rattle can.

Love the hood tilting to the front looks great.
(9.06) I have to agree....Frickin Awesome!!! Love the hood 👍
Headlights are always hard to work with. Maybe some small rectangle lights, like off of a 2000ish Camaro. Build little bird cages on the front axle for the lights to sit in. I don’t know. Maybe cool, maybe not. My brain hurts as well 😆. The rest of the truck is awesome. I can’t wait to hear it run.
Maybe mount the lights on the axle. I am (at 60 yrs old) building my first semi rat rod, a 50 Willys station wagon. It's fun coming up with ideas and trying to figure how to make those ideas actually work.
Hey why don’t you try mounting them on the frame so they would be lower just a thought but i like your work keep it up
It's coming along nicely 👍👍🇨🇱 the lights look to close to the hood. Maybe put them out some.
aww let them grow on you they look good
I like the lights.
Mount 6" off road light housings up by the windshield, like Spot Lights and swap the bulbs over to 80's BMW low beam bulbs. Leave to Headlights off of the front and grab some round 2" turn/ parking lights for a motorcycle up at the base of the hood below the hood molding. spots for headlights............
On the hood put some cutouts in the front for air flow since that hood covers half the radiator. Like crows beaks or wings or something like that.
And yes those headlights makes it look like a vw beetle, not good and not sure about where or size light placement would look best. Cool rod,
Tilting hood is great maybe smaller headlamps will be proportionate or maybe even hidden behind new grill or for what it's worth a set of rectangular lamps just to be different 😁😁😁👍👍👍🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Trucks looking great. My opinion on the lights is they’re too high not too big. If you could somehow get them lower I think it would help the look tremendously. Dig the channel keep up the good work.
Nice work on the tilt hood and that grill is awesome. Not a lot of options for the headlights with the cantilevers. Like you said .. smaller lights and get em as low as possible. Avoid mounting them on the axle or spindle because that will shake them to pieces. My 2 cents.
Thanks man! I agree 💯 and I think it would make a guy sea sick on the roads around here.
Nice n simple on the hinge for the hood love it. Cool front grill about the light maybe small one's.
Tunnel a small set into the sides of the hood 🤔 12 volt flood lights for landscaping would look trick 🤩
Man that thing is awesome
Try lights inside front tires above Axle mounted so they turn with front tires..
Just like the old Citroen’s!!!
Looking good mate👌
Thanks 👍
G'day great job mate
Hey Tony! If it were my truck, I would have used a 12v trunk release button, with a spring loaded latch. Love the grille idea, but maybe saw tooth the leading edges? What about mounting the headlights to the front axle? Either way, it's getting closer to the epic burnout!!!
Yeah! Great grill and hood!
Why not mount the lights down pretty low...maybe to the steering knuckle? Makes some old-school curve lights, harhar.
I think the lights should go in front of the suspension. Maybe a little smaller too. Idk. Great video series.
Grill is awesome , don't like the light on hood, maybe mount them somewhere lower. Keep up the good work on old crow and the videos
You could mount some leds in the grille
I kinda dig the lights. Give them a yellow tint.
girl looks in great should go with some LEDs down by the tires something that would be closer to the ground it would look really good
The grill and good are looking great. I like the lights myself. How would they look moved forward on the front frame?
Just do 2 light bars going up and down for head lights right behind the grill
Lookin' good !!
Like the forward tilt but it seems to " jiggle" when lifting. Can you brace it more? Enjoy
Oh yeah totally plan on putting in more bracing. When I lifted it there in the video that was the first time and it only had three tack welds on each side holding the whole thing together
How about recessing smaller headlights in the hood
Put a little new technology on the old crow, as aggressive as the front end looks maybe some slender led headlight in an old metal wrapper!
I like the way you think
The headlights need to be smaller or lower. If they were down near the front axle the size would be fine
Smaller diameter... or maybe same but incorporate more into them... both headlight and turn signal... ???... but location is perfect... look for a set a driving lights from the front of a Heritage Harley...
I'll look into those
Honestly man I would leave lights just like that. How could it be a rat rod if there's no big lamps staring at you? Also love the board idea 💡, that's a perfect idea of ingenuity! Keep up the good work. One more thing I wanted to know is, how did you get your wife into rat rods. I've tried explaining and showing girlfriends this stuff and they all think I'm nuts
I like the story the old rusty stuff tells. There's a lot of history in the rat rod. Besides, I love the sound of open headers! Nothing jump starts a morning better!
@@ThatRustLife yes I totally agree 👍
You should check out bulletproof design.com for lights they sell all sorts of motorcycle lights they even have some model A style.
Thanks I will do that
I think the lights are ok in size, they’re just too high.
The wrench wasn't worth a million dollars.... It's worth 2 Million... 😂😂😂😂
That would be my luck! 😂😂😂
my brain hurts all the time
LOL
they need to be lower
👍👍👍🇨🇦
Kinda like the bugeyed look
Love the grille
You should put hard core fab decals on the doors and make it look faded to match the truck
Looks great , nice work
I think the lights just need to be mounted lower!
Big thumbs up on hood!
Hey brother the lights are awesome just mount them lower and forward between the wheels
Dig the headers, don't cut um off at all and put the strap on the back side, with NO LETTERING. Newk from Kentucky
Headlights from the 30s? More sleeker look! Would go super good with all the slant lines you got going on with your hood, cab, frame. Kick that idea around for a bit. Maybe, maybe not?
Yes, the head lights are TOO big.
Maybe if you had a pair from an old GM car where the lite was at the front of a long tapering tube that was like embeded into the fender.
Or in this situation the sides of the hood.
Dats my idea an I'm stickin to it !
Looking really nice. Maybe a little lower and forward on the headlights?
imao, i reckon the lights are too small and should be mounted to the spindles so they turn with the wheels and will be lower where they would look better, but thats just my opinion, gr8 build btw
Yeah, headlights make it look like a robot face.
I think they are a bit big & also too high.
What about mounting on the frame rails?
Mercedes Lights And Lower/Between Wheel And Control Brace
Rick Sanchez you sunnuvabish I’m IN!
🇨🇦👍
Maybe get the lights set lower, some sort of drop arm (a la drop axle)? Just spit balling .
The size is ok, but mount them as low as you can to the sides of your grill side plate/hood hinge plate
What about a spring underneath the box cover. Like a door popper
You know the old saying "Go big or go home."
The lights are fine, but it’s your rig!
Haha yeah! Just need the rest of the 35 chevy coupe to go with them.
Don't put the lights on the hood! Plan B?
The hood looks bad@$$
I like the lights
looks like a 8N Ford tractor's lights to me! Need to change somehow!
With the hood shaped the way it is I was thinking the same thing.
1st
Leave the headlights on and name it Kermit. 🐸
🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi. What type of steering box are you using I have a project of my own then I'm trying to go with a similar style of setup
Chevy truck there's a little butter look of it and this video th-cam.com/video/ajceur-9zMU/w-d-xo.html
Cool I will look at it later... Thanks
Like the hood. Glad you cut the tips off the grill pieces. I like the lights on it but maybe mounted off the axle...?
Dude - diggin on the Chevy Truck cutout behind your lathe ... I need 3 of them
Yeah its cool. Did you watch the video where I made it?
@@HardCoreFab Yes Sir. Cool video ... do you make them on the side ? I saw where you provided the file, I dont know anyone with a plasma table (yet)
Nice job on the hood brackets for a tilt Hood your grill looks pretty cool those lights are just too big though I think a little bit smaller love your videos keep them coming I'll keep watching thanks
Looks great but not the lights your gonna figure it out
Nice design on hood and grill
lights need to be far forward and low over the front axle to break up "the face". dont know how to achieve that in a tidy way with the suspension design and tilt hood?
That is the problem
