It's super helpful to hear such candid post-inaugural trip feedback after the Icon ship has had time to settle into itself. Sounds like some of the more negative experience you had was accentuated by the bad weather and cruise guests having to be inside on the ship so much. Hopefully RC will take this feedback and create more dedicated quiet space for adults, like it has on its other ships. Thank you for the review!
I’m surprised to hear you liked the food. We just went on Icon and were overwhelmingly disappointed by the food. None of it was bad, just not great. We tried Giovanni’s on Icon and it was by far our least favorite meal of the whole cruise.
Thanks for watching! Sorry to hear you were disappointed with the food. I think with a lot of cruise food, it can be hit and miss for everyone. Overall, we had a pretty good experience with the food, but we've been on enough Royal cruises to know what to avoid (like Giovanni's), which might have helped.
@@tonyajenkins7800 I am curious if your sailing was before or after Grant & Marisa's sailing. If your sailing was after and the kids stayed in the kids area, possibly, the surveys helped Royal to stick to rules. The other possibility is the parents that were on your sailing were more polite and respectable of other cruisers. Perhaps, there were less kids on your sailing. I just hope that our cruise does not have kids in the hot tubs when we want to get in them. I was thinking we would need to go to the hot tub late in the night.
Good point. We do know that our most recent Symphony of the Seas and Odyssey of the Seas sailings were at full capacity though. I think it's because more families were on this sailing, which bumps up the normal 'capacity' levels as that's usually based on double occupancy. I also think this ship doesn't use it's size quite as efficiently as Oasis class.
We have not been on Liberty of the Seas. However, we have been on the sister ship, Independence of the Seas. It was many years ago but we really enjoyed it.

"It's like the Winchester Mystery House of pool decks."
🤣

@@GrantandMarisa I totally agree about avoiding Giovanni's. Actually, I was disappointed by all of the specialty dinning.
I am disappointed to hear that there isn't a place to get away from noisy kids. We also go on cruises to relax.
Yeah. I think the icon class ships would really benefit from a solarium AND Hideaway areas.
I didn't have that issue on the Icon. Kids stayed in the kids area.
Very jealous of the sailing you were on 🤣. That was definitely not the case for us.

If you havent done cruise in 2 years then demand has increased since then and thus larger crowds on ships
