    I must confess Emily in Paris really got me interested in Marketing. It was more so interesting as I had already been learning to speak French for a very long time. I work as a social media marketing Strategist, my company requires that I am able to speak French and other languages so I am still somehow delusional about being sent to Paris to represent the company so I have my own Paris Marketer experience😄

    Yes I agree 100% with the experience part. When I was in college I knew that I wanted to do marketing but I wasn’t sure exactly what route I wanted to take or what kind of job I could even get so during college I did FOUR internships all marketing related and I got those internships because I used what I did in class I legit marketed myself even though I didn’t have much experience but that’s literally what marketing is ..making yourself sound better than what you are lol AND I got a job as a digital ad buyer which I had never done but I used my other marketing skills to show that I understand how to market to all types of people so bottom line is know how to make the experience that you do have relevant to the job position you’re applying for!!

    So my story is interesting. I actually worked for 10 years in healthcare as an X-ray tech. The market for X-ray is so incredibly over saturated it’s ridiculous. So, got frustrated and decided to go back to school just because to see what else is out there. It was hard, not gonna lie, feeling like I’m starting over. Decided to go back to school for HR, just to see where it may take me. I actually just landed a job as a Marketing Coordinator for a Healthcare IT Recruiting Agency. The software I was familiar with so even though I had no marketing experience having that knowledge and experience in healthcare helped me land the job. So needless to say I switched my major to marketing and I’m excited to see where this takes me!

    I graduated in December of 2019 with a Bachelors of Marketing and having no experience, am finding it difficult to find a job. Tweaking my resume to add as much skills and maybe experience as I can but it’s so stressful! I never took an internship

    • @NataliaRaquel
      @NataliaRaquel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi! I can completely understand where you are coming from especially during these times it can be really difficult when searching for a job. I would recommend to continue to apply to as many places as possible. And possibly venture into a different field that is still related but maybe not exactly a marketing associate (maybe something in social media, content creation or sales) just so that you can get some sort of experience under your belt so that future employers for a marketing position can see that you have some sort of career experience. I would say that not taking an internship isn't detrimental and many employers can look past that. If you are still concerned about the internship aspect it could still be a possibility to volunteer at a nonprofit doing something related to marketing to get more experience and grow your resume.

    For me I fell into marketing by Curiosity because I used to be a reseller well still Apple reseller and I found out that eBay and other platforms did not put you in front of more people because your store is not selling a lot so I decided to take it upon myself to figure out how I can get in front of more people. I have created a page on Instagram all about reselling I have got pictures and download apps to come up with my own ads and post them on my page so basically I’ve been doing it on and off for 3 to 4 years now and I find myself buying every book reading every book that’s related to marketing even some sells books just to get more information and not to recently someone had told me you should be in marketing because it’s some thing that you always do in your free time or you’re always coming up with some ideas without even thinking twice about it and you always have other ways seeing something others don’t see or understand. So I decided to take a small course at a juco School and blend all the courses I paid for and books and what I will learn to create something that fits me and stands out

Unless you have a team that makes creative for you, you'll need to know a bit of graphic design if you're making advertisements for a company. It would take you a long way.

I don’t think I want to go back for grad school in slp and was thinking about a new career in marketing. Or take a couple marketing classes at a community college to make sure it’s what I want to do?? Does it matter if I get a certificate in marketing from a local community college vs a higher up university??

But if I can say anything its to stay organized make sure to take notes and asks lots of questions and become very familiar with the company processes. Best of luck!

    I got my undergrad degrees in something other than marketing (slp and psychology), I graduated 6 years ago and have since been working as a special Ed TA. I don’t think I want to go back for grad school in slp and was thinking about a new career in marketing. I too was also thinking about getting a general marketing certificate to get my feet wet in the field to see if it is something that actually interests me. 😊 Do you think I should get a certificate in marketing? Or take a couple marketing classes at a community college to make sure it’s what I want to do?? Does it matter if I get a certificate in marketing from a local community college vs a higher up university??
