Excellent video please make more videos on the topic of how to improve fitness for hockey. It's really nice to see an intl. player like you taking out time to share this important info. I am really looking forward to seeing more skills and fitness related video. If you can add on and off-season diet plan that would be great. thanks a lot.
It looks like he’s running, and from personal experience if you want your fitness to get higher you can turn the run into a sprint (when your ready) and you’ll improve even more. Just don’t overwork yourself!!!
It was really great to see your and the team in New Zealand... Haven't seen that quality of hockey for a long time. Hope you get a chance to come back and see the country.
Question: would you do full pitch running at all? Or is running 23 meters a more efficient way of getting fitter quicker? I struggle to be able to play out a whole game because my endurance sucks. My speed is reasonable but being able to hold that speed is the harder part especially when I have younger players to keep up with :(
Endurance is all about speeding up and slowing down and keep that same tempo all game long. Here are a couple exercises (from a longtime hockey-player) 1. Start on one side of the field (wide not the long part of the field) and run with 20% of your speed to the other side. Every 8/10 meters you increase your speed with 10% once you cross the middle of the field you sprint with 100% till you reach the other side. 5/10sec rest and again. Repeat 4 times 2. This can be done with the whole team. Run around half the field with a decent running speed in a single line. Every last person in line needs to speed up to become first in line. Do this 2 times around the field maybe 3 or 4 if ambitious. But dont slow down once you become first! 3. To train endurance for counter-attacks and also counter-defense (basically running from one side to the other) It is best to use your stick run from 1 23rd line to the other, from there set up a little exercise at the head of the circle which includes either shooting or just sweeping. After this sprint back to the other 23rd line. Repeat this a couple times. This could be done with the whole team. Where you could try to defend each others attacks Hope this helped or received you!
Hey Jeroen, thanks for this. In a typical running session, how many sets of each exercise should you do or would you normally do with Rotterdam or the Netherlands?
dannyboy3026 depends on your age, sport and level of fitness. I would do 3 sets of 6 with a break of 2 minutes between sets. Usually try to go nearly as quick as you can (85%) and rest for 30 seconds. Good luck
Hidde Fiolet sowieso op elke dag dat je niet traint 3 setjes van 6. Als de training licht was kan je na elke training altijd een setje van 6 stuks doen. Voel je je goed, kan je altijd een tweede setje doen!
@@HertzbergerTV Sorry for asking this question four years or so after the original video came out but it's a sign the video is still extremely useful to the hockey community if I'm here! :) I was just wondering if it was 3 sets of 6 of each of the four exercises in the video in one session (so 3*6 *4)? I am training to play veteran hockey (O40s) and I did 3 sets of the shuttle run: 3 sets, each set with 6 repeats of 25m*6 as fast as I could with 30 second breaks in between repeats and 2 minutes rest between sets. I stopped there ;)
Hi i have a question if i am tackling some one and if he hit ball straight to me it is a foul or not (if am near then 3 yard) Please tell me i am just 15 And when i tackle some one they just hit the ball toward me so i cant do any thing
2 Very important parts of tackling 1. Keep your stick low at all costs to lower the chance not stopping the ball good or the ball hitting your foot. 2. With tackling stay a bit left of your opponent. This way you wont block his running line but you are able to jab tackle or block tackle his ball. Forcing him to slow down. If he shoots the ball right in your stick/tackle it isnt a foul. But dont axe on his stick (slamming on it to get the ball)
Interesting stuff but wayyyy too long - no benefit to the viewer from watching you running up and down between cones. Could cover this in 2 mins. Very interested in more tips though.
