I LOVE THIS TYPE OF VIDEO! You should definitely do this more often with different type of front yards and different type of gardens style and themes.

    Greetings from Aruba 🇦🇼 😊.
I’m getting ready to redo our front yard. I have it in my mind, but like to have it on paper to show my wife what i like to make out of it. 3:16

I've been thinking of adding a medium tree to my front garden for a while now. Thanks for the tip on putting it on the oppsite side to the garage. Now I have the location, I just need to finally decide on what type of tree.

    Summary
What are the key design elements used in this front yard landscape?
The key design elements used in this front yard landscape design include:
    1. **Reducing the Lawn Size:** The design aims to reduce the size of the lawn while not completely removing it.

    2. **Increasing Plant Density:** The goal is to create a denser, greener yard with multiple layers of plants.
    3. **Incorporating Purple and White:** The client's favorite colors, purple and white, are featured in the design area.
    4. **Placement of Large Trees:** A Japanese zelkova tree is strategically placed on the opposite side of the front door from the garage or driveway to balance visual mass.
    5. **Use of Hardscaping:** Hardscaping materials are recommended for the narrow walkway area to make it easier to maintain and visually appealing.
    6. **Selection of Plants:** Various plants like lavender, black lace elderberry, candytuft, hydrangea, and apple tree are chosen to create a visually appealing and low-maintenance landscape.
    7. **Pathway Design:** A pathway is added along the side of the house to provide easy access to the garden and maintain a clean look against the house.
These elements work together to create a visually appealing and functional front yard landscape design.
How does the designer balance the visual mass of the garage/driveway with the placement of the large tree?
The designer balances the visual mass of the garage/driveway with the placement of the large tree by following a landscape design rule of thumb. When installing a large tree in a front yard, it is generally recommended to place it on the opposite side of the front door from the garage or driveway.
This placement helps the yard appear more balanced because the garage or driveway has a lot of visual mass. By placing a large tree with significant visual mass on the opposite side, it helps balance out the overall visual weight of the landscape.
In this design, the large tree (Japanese zelkova) is positioned strategically on the opposite side of the front door from the garage or driveway to create a sense of balance and visual harmony in the front yard landscape.
What are the benefits of using hardscaping materials in the narrow walkway area?
Using hardscaping materials in the narrow walkway area offers several benefits in the front yard landscape design:
    1. **Ease of Maintenance:** Hardscaping materials such as gravel or flagstones are easier to maintain compared to plants. They require less upkeep and do not need regular trimming or pruning.
    2. **Durability:** Hardscaping materials are durable and can withstand foot traffic and environmental conditions. They provide a long-lasting solution for high-traffic areas like narrow walkways.
    3. **Visual Appeal:** Hardscaping materials can enhance the visual interest of the space. They can add texture, color, and structure to the landscape design, creating a more visually appealing and cohesive look.
    4. **Accessibility:** A hardscaped walkway makes it easier to access the garden beds and other areas of the yard. It provides a clear path for walking without damaging plants or grass.
    5. **Preventing Soil Erosion:** Hardscaping materials help prevent soil erosion in high-traffic areas. They provide a stable surface that can withstand foot traffic without causing damage to the underlying soil.
Overall, incorporating hardscaping materials in the narrow walkway area not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the landscape but also improves functionality and reduces maintenance requirements.

We get a lot of trees like Mulberry, Sumac, and Maple that grow under our fences. And Poison Ivy vines and wild grape vines intertwine up the fence. We think the bird are eating the berries and dropping the seeds as they sit on the fences. What can be done?

I have a question? If you have plants and shrubs in your yard already, how would you deal with that? Would they be discarded or would you dig them up and replant them?
