Well yeah the ONE TIME they change anything which was Salvation...which not only had the balls to not do the same chase movie formula, but also had the balls to go "Hey, we're gonna do the future before the future seen in the movies so no neon lasers at night"....it didn't do well. They've been scared ever since.
oohhhHHH DAMN!!! No he just did not even actually really say that!!! For real though, well said. One sentence is all my man dash4800 needs to sum up the state of the franchise. I was gonna leave a long-winded comment about all this but why do that when this is already here? TH-cam Comment Of The Year.
@@Radb707 Yeah I agree with you, it’s kinda unfortunate that they’ve been shafted this hard for trying something new and they should’ve stuck with it, however even in Salvation they can’t stop themselves from going off the deep end with some bullshit plot twist conspiracy like all the other failed sequels plus some cheap arnold nostalgia. But apart from that, especially the first half was actually pretty fine and easily the best Terminator content after T2. It’s kinda like the Star Wars sequels, where the producers were scared so much by the failure of the prequels that they completely lost any balls to do take the series into a new direction.
I would have actually liked to have seen the planned Salvation trilogy that was supposed to happen. I actually like Salvation. It's certainly better than anything that followed it. And at least it wasn't about "John and Sarah" again. It actually did break the terminator mold in a lot of ways. I never understood the hate it got. At least they didn't try to shoehorn in an 80 year old Arnie into the movie as the main character.
Absolutely! Salvation is a solid movie. It's the third best film. I didn't know a trilogy was planned.. but it would have been welcomed. The rubber faced T-600's that Kyle talked about in original Terminator was neat to see, as well as the other machines. I think it would've been a good trilogy. Especially if they kept it in the future & it's "own stand alone story" or maybe had a completely different time jump. Obviously I love all the different "Terminator eye candy" in the 3 other movies. But at the end of the day, they simply do not compare. They are borderline trash. Dark Fate was just bad/sloppy writing & I truly feel that James Cameron was sick of "other" Terminator films being released so he released some bunk "resovled ending" to Terminator. The problem is SOO much time was lost, nearly a decade. They could've done SO Much with the franchise before ruining it. Sad really.
Defo, the future war happening, that's what fans want. We did get it in videogame format in terminator resistance which is pretty good, and works as a sequel to salvation,
Because that was the movie of the obviously not so infamous outburst from cristian bale who was the lead and batman at the time. Batman was protected by itself but this movie had that and no Arnie as its marketing and was also another movie that tried to force that forgetful sam Worthington into a big movie star which he never was
@@kennywilkinson913 Plus "Anton Yelchin" (young 'Kyle Reese') ended up running himself over with his JEEP at his Hollywood home in 2016. They couldn't have logically replaced his character with a different actor.
It’s a little unfair to compare Dark Fate to Golimaar because I think most of us can agree that Golimaar is fucking hilarious. This movie however.....not so much.
Had such high hopes when I saw Cameron's involvement, plus the return of Linda Hamilton...I don't get it, its like all the good Hollywood writers have suddenly been...terminated.
The 2008 writers strike never ended. They ran out of backlogged material in 2012. Since then, everything we see has been written by AI that has been trained by watching hit movies and tv shows using machine learning. Thats why everything today seems like a rehash of older media - it is.
From what I read, Cameron is the one who killed off JC. But why do that just so you can have gender swapped JC? It makes no sense. And it sucks this is supposed to be the "true" sequel to T2. Oh. what fun.
Terminator salvation was an ok sequel, mainly because it at least showed us more things after Skynet declared Judgement Day. That and how the T-800 was created
@Ryan Maliek I chose those two things because they were the one that caught my interests the most. The rest of the movie, yeah... even I can agree that Salvation is still a pretty retarded sequel.
I just wish they hadn’t retconned the future war in that movie from the cool, gritty, purple laser/Tech Com stuff we all saw from the glimpses in those previous movies.
@@McSuperfly101 In fairness, Salvation is set in the early years of the future war. I mean Kyle Reese is a teenager(at least to me he looks like a teenager) in that movie. Kyle Reese was at least in his 20's-30's at least in that future flashback in Terminator 1.
So true. Of all the sequels, is the only one were i found the references not as offensive as in the other films. I kinda like that the first fight with a T-800 was in a factory, being the "last one" in a factory too. i liked too the idea that was Skynet who give leadership over the human resistance to John, eliminating the original leaders. Ahhhh, there are a story there in that movie. A good one. From a Mad Max future that can easily evolve into the future we all know in a future movie, following the war against the machines. But the films was just so weak.......is a pity. Still, it is a movie to me very similar to Prometheus. A movie I enjoy, but not because the movie is good, but for what the movie could have been.
@@GingerZombie29 Keeping in mind that before that whole rant she tried to murder the guy she was preaching to, with complete disregard to his family which could have easily been caught in the crossfire. Oh and she turned out to be a shitty mom as well.
To be fair, she said, "Men like you." That wasn't a line from feminism. Sarah believes the preservation of her son John, a male, is the key to saving the future. She was no feminist.
It’s not even the “best movie since T2” since Salvation still holds that title...Salvation’s not perfect but at least it tries to do something different
Salvation is the movie all fans wanted to see: one that shows the war, and what led to John becoming leader, and Skynet sending the T-800 back. Problem is the producers set this as a new trilogy so we only started out with John before he became the leader. Another problem is that it's not set in the original timeline, before Reese was sent back (and now that I think about it, how was John born originally since Reese was his father? Did John have another father originally, is it that weird time paradox where the timeline fixes itself, so Reese becomes John's father instead? It's confusing when you think about it) Salvation is technically set after T3, it has to be, how else would John know Kyle Reese is his dad?
How awesome it could have been, seeing John Connor as a real life Eddie Furlong. Doing low end jobs, because he never had a normal childhood, having come to terms that he no longer will be humanity's saviour, he's no longer the chosen one. To humanity he's now a nobody. Nobody knows how he and his mom saved the world. He's an unknown. And now has to man up, get himself in order, because he has to chaperone the new chosen one.
I think it'd be great. This bloated John Connor trying to get clean while fighting Terminators but he's still got all that training from when he was a kid. So he starts off a neer do well, but when faced with a challenge, he rises to meet it, becoming a fat action hero. It'd be like Seth Rogen in Green Hornet but serious. The running joke would be characters going "Wait, you were supposed to be humanity's last hope? Seriously?" and everyone doubts him but in the end he taps into his inner asskicker.
Yeah. I also like Cameron's original idea that the prime timeline is where Skynet won and it regretted killing humanity because it was only reacting in fear, so it created the time machine to make a future that would bring humanity into a golden age at the cost of itself. So it basically created John Connor.
I really don't think Cameron felt that way, but he didn't "buy in" as much as we were told he did years ago when he "retook the reins of the franchise." That said though I agree with you that he either didn't fight hard enough for "his vision" or he didn't care at this point. He said long time ago that the considered Term 1-2 to be closed loops in his sense of time-travel, and heck he made the thing so... *shrugs, is tired* I love this franchise and would like to see it continue, but why can't we do like original Star Wars (pre-Disney, and Halo games for that matter) and explore the expanded universe and the stories untold, both the future and the past and all in between. It's a rich world, we shouldn't feel like the paupers of it. Especially since WE finance the damn thing. Maybe they'll get the message after this. Best wishes to you
@@gkroll8467 ? Since who made "chick" terminator? Cameron wasn't part of T3. It was an (admittedly silly) attempt to get boy-butts in the seats, as well as try to diversify the story. It was far less heavy-handed about it compared to Dark Fate, but it still rolled with a bit too much "Girl Power," but on the human side... John's future wife appeared but was a tough character, Just reread your post, I hope I'm not drunkenly assuming you didn't mean the idea that John made the Cameron model from SarahConnorChronicles?
"We can never, ever get out of Terminator 2." Agreed. And even if we did it just wouldn't match up anyway since there is no way to raise the bar higher than T2 did. The story has been told. All we're getting now is nostalgia padding.
They could write a story where the terminator wins. Instead of this garbage, omg we're gonna die, omg that was 1 in a million coincidence, omg we're gonna die, omg that was a 1 in a million coincidence, bullshit story cycle.
@@drlarrymitchell Oh boy, it's the edgy contrarian again. If there's a comment on the internet about something being great, like The Godfather for example even, you can be sure there's going to be the generic someone who pops up out of their hole to say how shit it was.
Going off the pic of Furlong at 19:29, Norman Reedus would make a PERFECT John Connor, in resembling Furlongs John Connor, but also looking weathered and gaunt as you might expect of a man leading a resistance against machines that traumatised his adolescence
Yeah, but if you're getting a guy who looks like eddie furlong to play eddie furlong, why don't you just get eddie furlong??? Casting Bale made sense bc there's no way Furlong is gonna be Bale. Hell, they can cast Ethan Hawke to play JC next. I would dig that. It would look similar to the T2 adult John. But if the whole point is getting someone who looks like Furlong....just get Furlong and have him work out for 6 months.
"Tim Miller explains why Terminator: Dark Fate will "Scare the F&&&" out of Misogynists." Yes at the 140$ million loss due to people not seeing this movie, all the "Misogynists" sure were "scared" alright. People love to talk about Misogynists however they completely ignore Misandrists or people who discriminate against men.
right, Tim Miller ironically scared the mysoginists right out of the theater. Let's start a betting pool for how long hollywood can afford to continue this social justice crusade.
Indy midgets are garbage - Sorry man, but I still dont understand. I dont get it, but it seems that America is full of shitty people, nothing new about this statement.
Tell you what I find hilarious - Cameron gave Alien 3 a hard time for killing off Hicks and Newt after the audience had "built up an emotional connection" (I don't disagree), but then went and let them kill John Conner in the first 60 seconds of this movie. His idea? Dunno. But even if it wasn't, he should have stopped it in its tracks. You know how they should fix the Terminator franchise (and it's already flatlining)? They need to ditch the money, ditch the SFX, move away from Sarah and John Connor and take it back to being a low-budget, scary, gritty, violent horror movie.
Or just get us to the War Against the Machines. Hell, combine the two. Focus on the very first years after the nuclear war; where humanity and Skynet are rebuilding. Perhaps set it in a steel mill or rich in iron mine that Skynet wants for it’s war machines and the slowly building up Tech-CoM wants to either deny Skynet or use to build their own counters. Early infiltrator units and some truly creepy animalistic or outright alien machines could be used and stay focused on the small village or town built up around that facility.
You know you’re in trouble when the helicopter scenes in this new films suck compared to T2. Also, they’re idea of improving the movie is to put in Bigger crappier and crappier CGI. Two CGI airplanes colliding? Is this a terminator movie or Last Action Hero part 2? These people just don’t seem to get the core of the films. Here’s a clue, It’s not about bigger and bigger CGI. I really think they dumb these films Way Down because they’re trying to satisfy an international audience. Instead of original story, they settle for original cgi explosion.
The people that made the Rambo the movie the game made a better Terminator 'movie' with the future-war shown than any moviemakers had. Seriously, 'he's a man not a god!' people made Terminator Resistance and it's GREAT.
@@GetUrOwnHandle the story is dog shit. grace is a total mary sue. it's actually ironically sexist, as obviously grace, as a simple female, wasn't good enough to protect dani. grace *had* to be enhanced in order to be "good enough". sarah conner's resume is drinking and hunting terminators??? where the fuck does the money for all this shit come from? dani, in stereotypical mexican form, just happens to have an uncle that can smuggle them across the border. super lame.
And I've seen in a comment on another video that James Cameron wasn't allowed much input and he clashed all the time with Tim Miller over what goes into the movie, they didn't agree on many points, that's part of why it bombed.
Good video. Haven't seen Dark Fate and never wanted to, I was happy with the first two films and the "Sarah Connor Chronicles". Also, I love how all these new directors and writers act like having a badass female lead is so 'ground-breaking' when Sigourney Weaver and Linda Hamilton did it first more than a decade ago!
I love Sarah Connor Chronicles. I thought that was really well done, and then they cap the show. I hoped it would get an ending movie like Serenity but nope.
@@rhyswong8976 Yes the Sarah Connor Chronicles were great and a fitting continuation to the first two films :=) pity we didn't get a movie or special that wrapped up the ending :=(
T3 was a honest movie, I don't get the hate. John and Kate were well developed characters, the plot about the rise of the machines was OK and the special effects were (mostly) satisfyingly practical, what's to hate about it?
@@Dukeflyhawker I consider the silly humor the innovation of the 3rd movie: by then the formula was risking to start to became stale and change of pace was more than welcomed. Also, to me the humor it's not overdone: towards the end, when things start to get serious the movie drops the humor completely.
Not to mention completely unbelievable as any type of leader. A five-foot nothing who can barely hold a short-barreled/ bullpup shotgun .... Give me a farging break.
Instead of giving the fans finally the most important (judgment) day of this planet - the war between humans vs machines, something true fans wanna see as the main plot for over 28 years now....lets give people feminism and immagration topics...in a fucking TERMINATOR film!!!! Ah, and a 5.1 small, untrained young woman who rise as the most dangerous human on this planet for the machines...I can not believe what I just saw in the movie theater here in germany...
No, a kid in the front row said, right after the credits rolled, that T2 was better. He was right, even though it was something painful for me to admit.
I went and saw T3 in the theater. Except for the first 10 minute opener, the whole time it was on, I kept thinking Why are we watching a worse version of Terminator 2 again? At least the ending was interesting but overall it sucked. I only saw salvation at theaters after because it was a different idea but no others.
I thought T3 was good, but definitely not better than T2. Even though the T-X is not liquid metal, I can see how the person who wrote that film might think she was an upgrade from the T-1000, because...they both have shapeshifting abilities, but the T-X probably has an advantage over the T-1000 because when the T-800 was telling John what the T-1000 could do, John asked why the T-1000 would not turn into a bomb (of equal size to his body) to defeat him. The T-800 said the T-1000 could take the shape of sharp metal objects like knives and pitchforks, but can not form complex machines. The T-X, I believe, comes much closer to having that ability than the T-1000, and because she is not liquid metal, really hot and really cold temperatures can not slow her down like they slowed down the T-1000. September 25, 2021, 10:40pm
@@adampkalb the T-X has the advantage over the T-1000 because like you said it can form complex machines, essentially she can with her plasma cannon, flamethrower & other weapons she can form with her arm.
I have to say i liked t3. Definitly not as good as the 2 classics before by any means, but fun. The worst thing it did was changing the end of t2. But as a movie itself, it was kinda good.
I know how Terminator can be rebooted. check my script ""Skynet sends a terminator back to 68,000 B.C but quickly finds that humanity has almost been wiped out by a mysterious race of Aliens that are in turn being hunted by a bloodthirsty Predator""
Good assessment. 3 and 4 definitely started sliding down the scale, but at least they were somewhat original and continued the story. 5 & 6 don't exist
I couldn't get my friends to believe me when I told them the Terminator's name was "Carl" and he started his own life. Actually, I would have liked to see a movie about that journey but we only get vaguely told,we don't get to see the cold killer become someone to care and regret.
Just like the remake of Ghostbusters, if you don't like the movie you hate women. Yet T2 is praised by most people and Sarah Conner was in most scenes.
YES once you mentioned how dark fate were basically the "bad movies" that this movie was supposed to "ignore" all put into one I was instantly hooked onto this video because I've been saying this since the movie was released
I do wanna see almost black arnold and brittish kung fu guy fighting sexy black man in an almost iron man suit. Might ve the best Gi Joe movie to date!
Or John Wick or Mission impossible right? Can't have someone just enjoying a popcorn action flick right? smh The irony that the ppl that hate the fact that the Fast series changed from what it used to be are prolly the ones bitching that Terminator didn't lol.
or Tim Miller blame movie goers for been misogynists as to the reason why the film failed despite the terminator franchise traditionally having female lead roles anyway only those movies succeeded as they didn't suck or force politics
It was, but McG's idea for the next one kind of sucked. He said he wanted to do one where Skynet is able to do a time gateway or something so they are able to do a mass invasion of the past with hunter killers everywhere fighting present day military and John Connor goes back to warn everyone but they think he's crazy and when the invasion starts he has to lead the present day to victory. The reason I think it sucks is because it has fucking nothing to do with the future war. It's bringing the future war to the present but like...that's not what I wanted dammit lol.
@@Radb707 Oh yah that could have been a disaster. They need to just focus on the future war, and make it look like what we were shown in T1 and T2! Mix it up with that new style they brought in.
I left the theater after they killed John and the first car chase scene. Went and got a beer then came back. I was so pissed off that they had done that in this movie. Not to mention this movie is boring and basically meaningless.
Honestly John being killed off is actually good think about it t2 ended off so perfectly think about it they destroyed cyberdyne, they stopped judgement day and got rid of skynet so therefore he has nothing left to do his mission is over he successfully did what he set out to do in the future save humanity from skynet his mission so over his character is no longer relevant his story is over there is no point in continuing he has nothing to do and dark fate is basically what happens when John finishes his mission and the paradox cycle begins there will always be a John Conner a judgement day and a skynet
Did you sit through Genisys? John was killed by the T800 & his own parents in that..... I find it funny that fans are suddenly pissed John got killed off. I guess they wanted to see John as a loser, drinking beer and eating cheetos
@@JulioHernandez-vi9to what? Just make John a mentor figure for Danny in the movie, have him built up as this inspirational, charismatic, and badass character who teaches Danny on how to survice and be a better person and also encourage her to eventually accept her fate of being the future leader of the resistance. That way you have a movie where they are passing on the torch to the next generation but also respecting they're roots at the same time, have John fight the rev 9 using his brain and wits and ultimately sacrifice himself, and then Sarah can come in and help Danny prepare for the future. Boom, don't get me wrong the whole idea of skynet being replaced with legion is still dumb on paper and on screen, but at least that way they can give the character a proper send off. But they didn't do that and this movies' gonna bomb. Stupid writers
Salvation was what I wanted to see after T2, the war. It didn't exactly gave me what I was hoping but the foundation was there. Technically it was great, very good CGI combined with practical effects like a proper terminator film (arnie was too uncanny valley in some shots but still fine for the time), shot on locations, nice action scenes, the last scene in the factory was a nice wink to T1 and done well. If only they made that war look like what we saw in the first 2 films that would have been perfect. Even if they went back only to T1 to get ideas that would be enough. That Future Flashback scene when they get ambushed by the terminator gives almost everything what you need to know - the right tone, that you're fighting an enemy who doesn't need to sleep or eat, can be 24/7 on the battlefield, already sounds like a horrible war for humans, that they only go out at nights but still have to be careful, living in dirty underground bunkers eating rats. Terminators actually killing people not throwing them around (don't know why, for sport?) and music more in style of T1's future (Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon's score was like that at times). That's the war I wanted to see. So, had they done that and thought of something else than skynet's idiotic plan using Marcus, that film would be exactly what most of us wanted! But it still sticks out from all those post T2 expensive fan films.
‘Salvation’ tells about the very beginning of the Resistance with John Connor at the head of it (previous supreme commanders all fall - Connor comes to the stage, which is quite realistic). While the war depicted in T1-2 - with plasma rifles and mass production of T-800s* - was already near its end. So no wonder that it looks a bit different - this is what Kyle told Sarah about his youth, a 'retro-future'. I hoped to see how things evolve in next parts of the 'new trilogy' but then they filmed Genisys instead... As for me, 'Salvation', despite its tiny cons, is the best part of the franchise after T2 :) And the game 'Terminator: Resistance' is the only real thing that fills the gap between Salvation and T1 * T-800 series is called 'infiltrators'. These machines are not only human-like but they are also way more flexible, durable and intelligent in comparison to earlier 'rubber skin' models.
@@giovannigiovanni.7220 Salvation is pretty shit, but I kinda liked it because one, they didn't kill John in movie. They almost did, but didn't and two, I was also interested about the war before Skynet sent the T-800 back
Personally I like to ingore Terminator 3 I like to think of it as Terminator 1, Terminator 2, Terminator Salvation. I would have loved a Continuation of the Salvation Storyline so we get to see how Good T-800 got sent back into Terminator 2, plus the plot of the film could be centered around Resistance discovering Skynets plans on a Time travel Device
They keep recreating the formula of T2, but I just wish they'd do a smaller scale story like T1 again with no friendly terminators to protect the main characters.
Finally, someone else who sees Dark Fate for what it is. Terminator: "Greatest Hits". But... *_Somehow_* missing every one of the *_awesome_* scenes of its predecessors. It plays more like a Mission Impossible movie, that _just happens_ to have Terminators in it.
That is what The Critical Drinker said about Terminator Genisys! There was another T-1000 guy there, and while I was kind of okay with Genisys having a different T-1000 than the one we know from Judgement Day, The CD asked "I mean, would it really have been that difficult to de-age Robert Patrick for this scene? He can't be that forking expensive these days."
I liked 3 things about this movie 1)The actor for Grace did a great job with the role she was given 2)Arnold was hilarious 3)The action was really well done (would have hit harder if the characters were more interesting but still, I really liked the action scenes)
To be honest, I feel Eddie Furlong STILL has a chance to appear in at least 2 NEW Terminator films. If we were to take James Cameron's alternate ending of T2 as canon, then we could say that T2 IS the end of Skynet and the Terminator Franchise. What films that could be made are 1. A film on the 2029-John Connor that sent Kyle Reese to the '80s, so we can how the 2029-John Connor gets shaped into the leader of the resistance by his mother; this film could show his story from before he was born, all the way to the moment he sent kyle reese. 2. The second film could be of this same John Connor at the time when they capture, reprogram, and send to the '90s the Terminator known as Uncle Bob; then it could show the events after they do that and perhaps take down Skynet in this timeline and begin to rebuild civilization. Another thing is this: I understand as time passed and technology advanced, George Lucas updated/added things to his older films like Jabba the Hut the way he intended for him to look. If we took T2's alternate ending as canon, it could be re-shot as well as 2029-John Connor's appearance at the beginning of T2. Eddie Furlong is now an adult; This can be done and should be done in my opinion.
The only way I'm coming back to this franchise is if they do a life of Carl the movie it could be a comedy about a robot trying to emulate human life just make the last 20 minutes outrageous action damn certified hit
Carl going to lowes or home depot to get crown molding and paint, and his nemesis shows up, and he remembers his family isn't there to see him this time. so he has this big huge drag out fight with ultra fit ultra buff guys in the middle of warehosue store using everything from the store as weapons. including arnie getting pinned between a forklift and a wall of cement bags, before he starts chucking cement bags at his attackers. Fight ends with arnie grabbing his bags, leaving money on the register: 'I won't be back.' Pan to the interrior of the store utterly destroyed.
@@singletona082 Honestly it sounds a lot better, they should have just gone full on comedy, that way they can get away with having no plot story or characters
Ranking Best to Worst 1. Judgement Day 2. The Terminator 3. Salvation 4. Genisys 5. Rise of the Machines 6. Dark Fate I'm 50/50 on switching Rise of the Machines and Genisys
Remember, folks, James Cameron - yes, James Cameron - was the one who endorsed Genisys, and he was also the one who came up with most of the major, and worst, plot points for this new film, including killing off John Connor from the get go. Thank him. I'm starting to think he's turning into another Ridley Scott or George Lucas. There's a good reason he doesn't make many films, and the reason is starting to look like it's because he's a hack and can't write for shit. Even the original Terminator wasn't his idea.
I think it was Mr. H Reviews who claimed James Cameron did not give a damn about Terminator or its fans. He just did this for the money. Money for his terrible Avatar sequels. Hope it was worth it, James.
It's more like he doesn't have the rights to his own creation anymore . He was set to get them back this year so I honestly think he's been underhandedly engineering the death of the franchise that should have never been.

It's safe to say that T2's original ending where Skynet was gone for good, Sarah is alive an well, and John is a senator with a kid is the true ending to the Terminator franchise
If T2 Terminator’s Mission was to Protect John Connor and Completed it, Why didn’t it Start a Drapery Business and have a non-physical relationship with a woman and have a Terminator Kid after? 🤔🤷♂️

@@KidaMilo89 I loved her Psychiatric Story more then the T-1000 Scenes and her doctors have been more scary than him ^^ Without Sarah and John Connor's Story/Relationship it would only have been a boring Action Movie like Rambo 2+ ^^
I really don't get it. The only handful of her doctors that could be considered 'scary' is the pervert with the glasses who sexually assaulted her and possibly could have done more if she stayed longer. So a Terminator made of mimetic poly-alloy with no intention but to end her life is less scary than some psychiatric doctors? But I guess I see what you mean.
The Terminator turned into a dedicated family man living with a silly woman, having a dog, and being a good "listener". Then you have the young petite girl who suddenly turns into a really tough warrior and will save the world. How can u go wrong?
John sitting down at the radio in the bunker and beginning to help people organize was legit one of my favorite scenes in the whole franchise. I want an entire movie that's just him in that bunker talking on the radio and forming the resistance.
I loved this, loved it all. But most of all, I loved the way you defined how female roles are so poorly done nowadays compared to Sarah's case, to take it as an example, it is totally accurate.
Both T3 and DF shit on the ending of T2. If fate is set and they are going to keep sending Terminators back to get John, why the hell did Arnold lower himself into the steel. It shits on T2's perfect ending.
I agree with all of your points. All the same though, I feel the need to lob a grenade in this comments section: The original Terminator is far superior to Terminator 2. That is all.
I watched T1 and T2 (my favorite movie) to get hyped for T:DF (even though i knew about John Connor and just...uncertainty of it all). After watching Dark Fate, it is now one of my most hated movies and destroyed the whole Terminator series forever.
Here's my take on what would have been an epic twist. It starts off as it did, and the Rev 9 is going for Ramos. Connor gets involved in protecting her along side Grace, but at some point in the movie, it's made clear that the Rev 9 is sent by Legion to kill her because she is the one responsible for wiping out the human race. Legion is bound by an Asimovian set of rules which will not allow it to bring harm to a human being, except in the circumstances when said human being is going to harm a larger amount of human beings. sarah finds out, switches sides, and does battle with Grace. Would have been a better trade off with the tension and animosity between them at the beginning. Grace was sent back by the leader of the new world who wiped out the majority of the human race because they believe that we are killing the planet and it needed to be purified. The Creator of the Sarah Connor Chronicles Josh Friedman wrote Terminator Dark Fate and reused a lot of the ideas from the series on the movie even ideas for the unmade 3rd season unfortunately his script had John Connor alive but the producers changed it, Also the creator Josh Friedman also did the short lived series Emerald City and Snowpiecer The Series and his biggest upcoming credit is Avatar 2 he finally gets to work with James Cameron himself.
My biggest problem with the new movie is that the “evil looking” terminator looks like a wimp It’s my least favorite looking Terminator of any type of Terminators
Imagine enjoying this movie because it featured minorities in leading rolls. Who the fuck even thinks like that??? These SJW's talk about it, but they don't even walk their talk, because it's garbage, they just want to look cool (and now there's a lot of fucking money in whoring yourself out to the neo-marxists).
A movie franchise about changing the future that is terrified of doing anything but reliving the past.
Well yeah the ONE TIME they change anything which was Salvation...which not only had the balls to not do the same chase movie formula, but also had the balls to go "Hey, we're gonna do the future before the future seen in the movies so no neon lasers at night"....it didn't do well. They've been scared ever since.

Sad really.

It's confusing when you think about it)
Salvation is technically set after T3, it has to be, how else would John know Kyle Reese is his dad?
Agreed! Salvation is the best movie sequel of the Terminator franchise after T2. My favorite continuation however was The Sarah Connor Chronicles
"Terminator: Salvation" was pretty darned good, I thought. And the sequels could have been even better.

Been saying that for a long time or at least focus on the future war and the grit and terror like in t1
They need to just fully commit to the future war

@@mrchrisknight315 just don't Mix it up w
With that giant transformer from salvation, worst part of the film.
I left the theater after they killed John and the first car chase scene. Went and got a beer then came back. I was so pissed off that they had done that in this movie. Not to mention this movie is boring and basically meaningless.
i wouldve done the same thing ! So glad ive seen some spoiler. I will NEVER see that crap
@@CypHiLL2007 I'm right with you
Honestly John being killed off is actually good think about it t2 ended off so perfectly think about it they destroyed cyberdyne, they stopped judgement day and got rid of skynet so therefore he has nothing left to do his mission is over he successfully did what he set out to do in the future save humanity from skynet his mission so over his character is no longer relevant his story is over there is no point in continuing he has nothing to do and dark fate is basically what happens when John finishes his mission and the paradox cycle begins there will always be a John Conner a judgement day and a skynet
As for me, 'Salvation', despite its tiny cons, is the best part of the franchise after T2 :) And the game 'Terminator: Resistance' is the only real thing that fills the gap between Salvation and T1
* T-800 series is called 'infiltrators'. These machines are not only human-like but they are also way more flexible, durable and intelligent in comparison to earlier 'rubber skin' models.

Terminator 1
Terminator 2
Terminator 3
Terminator Salvation
This is also my top list
AMEN and this is coming from a person who didn't like Salvation.
I still wanted to see the future war.
Giovanni Giovanni. I like T4 too. But my heart goes too T3 because of the Arnold
@@giovannigiovanni.7220 Salvation is pretty shit, but I kinda liked it because one, they didn't kill John in movie. They almost did, but didn't and two, I was also interested about the war before Skynet sent the T-800 back
In T3 the world just ends - wich I think is a great way to end the movie instead of a "save the day" ending. Also T4 is great to see the future war.
I hope this means the franchise can just R.I.P

Just let sleeping dogs lie.
They keep recreating the formula of T2, but I just wish they'd do a smaller scale story like T1 again with no friendly terminators to protect the main characters.
The beauty is Arnie could still be included, but as the original human template for the T800.
"Grandma got some strong bones" im dead xd

Almost as good as the 'talk to the hand" arnie impression at 13:00
For John! #RIP
Tbh. The “talk to the hand” and “also, this is Texas” lines were really funny to me.
Me too.
Thwy may as well have brought back Robert Patrick too. Can't imagine he's too busy since the show "Scorpion" got cancelled.
This movie makes me love T3, like truly makes me feel grateful for that movie.
Shut up moron

Why? T3 is the OG force awakens. It invalidated the previous movie.
Guy Mcface shut up dick face the latest terminator is good

I liked 3 things about this movie
1)The actor for Grace did a great job with the role she was given
2)Arnold was hilarious
3)The action was really well done (would have hit harder if the characters were more interesting but still, I really liked the action scenes)
Same
Honestly I really loved it and you are spot on. My favourite line…”and this is Texas”
Fight ends with arnie grabbing his bags, leaving money on the register: 'I won't be back.'
Pan to the interrior of the store utterly destroyed.
@@singletona082 Honestly it sounds a lot better, they should have just gone full on comedy, that way they can get away with having no plot story or characters
I'd actually go watch that.

@@redrumloa No Dark Fate will always be the worst Terminator movie.
This just proves every man has his price. The Terminator was just a job for James, Arnold, and Linda. These people don't care
that this film takes a poo on the first Terminator films.

Termonator 2 was so genius with the Psychiatric and John Connor Plot
How exactly is that genius though? Obviously, something was going to happen to Sarah Connor after blowing up a damned computer factory and she was the only one alive at the scene. The trauma, don't forget that.

T3 may not have been the best but it had a great ending, and gave us the perfect springboard to a trilogy set in the future.
John sitting down at the radio in the bunker and beginning to help people organize was legit one of my favorite scenes in the whole franchise. I want an entire movie that's just him in that bunker talking on the radio and forming the resistance.

I agree with all of your points. All the same though, I feel the need to lob a grenade in this comments section:
The original Terminator is far superior to Terminator 2.
That is all.
They are on par for me. I like both for different reasons but yea the first Terminator was great.
Raja Thyagaraj or Alien vs Aliens
I agree the Terminator is my favourite over the sequel, as I feel the pacing and atmosphere is superior IMO.
Totally, Cameron peaked with The Abyss, everything from then on has been downhill
There is a lot of moral grey area here we could play with. Here you have a new idea in a familiar packet we all know and are comfortable with. As long as there was no big spoiler in the trailer, a plot twist to floor an audience.

The Creator of the Sarah Connor Chronicles Josh Friedman wrote Terminator Dark Fate and reused a lot of the ideas from the series on the movie even ideas for the unmade 3rd season unfortunately his script had John Connor alive but the producers changed it,
Also the creator Josh Friedman also did the short lived series Emerald City and Snowpiecer The Series and his biggest upcoming credit is Avatar 2 he finally gets to work with James Cameron himself.
