  • Who Created God? The simple answer to this question is “No one!” Only things
that had a beginning need a maker. God, by definition, has no beginning, therefore, He did not need to be made. The Law of Causality is the very foundation of science. Science is a search for causes, and that search is based on our consistent observation that everything that has a beginning, has a cause. The Law of Causality does not say that everything needs a cause. It says that everything that comes to be needs a cause. God did not come to be. No one made God. He is unmade. As an Eternal Being, He did not have a beginning so He did not need a cause. One cannot logically ask this question without considering the dimension of time. Without time, there is no cause and effect. Since God created time, cause and effect would never apply to His existence. MIND BEFORE MATTER There are two possibilities for anything that exists: ▪ It has always existed and is therefore uncaused or, ▪ It has a beginning and was caused by something else.
We know from scientific studies that the universe is not eternal: it did have a beginning in time. Since the universe has a beginning, it must have been caused by something else. We also know that all that is in the world can be categorized as either mind or matter. Either mind is eternal (has always existed) or matter is eternal. Understanding that the universe had a beginning leaves us with the conclusion that mind is eternal and that mind is what caused matter to exist. This makes sense as matter does not have the “will” to create, whereas mind does. This Eternal-uncreated-Mind is what St. John refers to in his Gospel as the “Logos”, the Word of God, the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:1) “in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
