  • @silverjaiden2450

    What's funny is that Michio Kaku is perfectly describing the angst between social interaction and political interaction. Terrorism is a political tactic. Angst between governments prevent individual from socializing and interacting normally between countries. Borders, internet censorship, import taxes, Nationalism, Wars, Weapons of Mass Destruction, etc are all political tools that prevent human social cohesion between countries and even in countries. Even a large percentage of social murders are done with political motivations. ALL of the violence and strife that humanity regularly subjects itself to on mass is political and dealing with governments. Michio Kaku is questioning will we become a political-less, government-less type 1 civilization or will our governments and politics destroy us.

    • @willyd1578
      @willyd1578 ปีที่แล้ว

      you view this as an us against them problem and you are most certainly wrong in that way. the only way to become a type 1 civilization is to view it as an US problem that WE solve together.

    I always love watching this video, I've seen it 3-4 times now. I was talking to a friend about ISIS and what they are to the rest of the world. Michio explains them so well, he hit the nail on the head with pinpoint accuracy. ISIS is afraid to see a multicultural islamic world because they will lose any foothold of power to the power of the people, not the power of the few. Once ISIS has been dealt with, and the few other tribes who seek to plague us with grotesque 'executions (murders)' we will WELL be on our way to type 1. Google has launched it's fiber network to give free internet to millions throughout multiple cities, these kinds of things are bringing us to a much more free world where we will have less poverty and starvation! Preach Michio!

    Spoken like a true imperialist, comes back to the term Foucault coined "The black mail of the enlightenment", Kaku is the prodigy of that black mail. The funny part is that while he's labeling religious fanatics or cultural fanatics as "terrorists" because they are mono culturists all the stuff that he mentions as signs of a converge into one hegemonic ideal (so called liberal democracy) is just a modified form of mono culturalism even if he embellishes it with the word multi-culturalism, he doesn't realize that he's using the same principles that the fanatics use (mainly the Abrahamic religions) especially the concept of teleology and the inevitability of progress towards type whatever "civilization" or towards the kingdom of heaven or some other abstract idea. I pretty much doubt that he knows that he's speaking ideas straight out of Kant, since scientists regard philosophy as horseshit yet they speak its language without knowing that, but little does he and other know that this view is historical and idiosyncratic to a certain time and culture and in retrospect as Adorno and Horkheimer claimed has caused great episodes of catastrophe and domination through the use of instrumental reason (science divorced of comprehensive reason)....in short the implicit message he's conveying is that anyone who opposes our hegemonic neoliberal globalized project and whats to be on their own and autonomous we will count them as terrorists and destroy them ^__^

      Agree to disagree, how is that done? by calling the people who don't want to be part of this whole quasi mythological project and would rather be left alone"terrorists"? Is there any universal law or any imperative that says we have to develop shared beliefs (not that i'm against it) or is that merely a function of a mode of thought, going back to the enlightenment, that is hegemonic and imperialistic in its foundation and core conceptions? how do you aim for a multi-cultural world by saying people have to converge on shared beliefs and shared world views and if necessary forcefully? i'm sorry but that's statement is full of contradictions and is simply incoherent!

    • @GlobalResonanceDance
      @GlobalResonanceDance 11 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      truesemite You totally miss the point. Type 1 society is a MULTI-cultural society TOLERANT of differences, meaning its laws and police permit you to practice and believe what you want as long as you don't start blowing people up or torturing them. NOT allowing people the free will to practice their differences by FORCE/punishing these differences which have no evidence of being harmful IS terrorism, by definition!

    • @StevenErnest

    Tolerance is actually apparent in the recent years.
    You see people around you, mostly on the Internet, making jokes about African or Asian or whatever else stereotypes.
    Those jokes are made _ironically._ Those people don't care about them and we don't care about those made towards us because those jokes do lean towards some sort of truth.
    We understand each other--non-seriously as it may be--and this understanding paves the way to toleration.
    When you _get_ something, it's easier to judge it.

      There is a lack of hope in occidental society in which everyone unconsciously wishes for "the end". This is a consequence of a sort of collective low self-esteem. There is a theory in occidental anthropology: people simply are not happy being a civilization that hinders the earth and all other people on it more than it contributes. Look at these societies internally. Signs of a secret desire arises for self destruction in all media and in a majority of people, the ones who believe "the end is near" in the western world when awareness of what they do to the rest of humanity is raised (thank the internet), In societal psychology, they know that the world would be better without them. Not to worry, it'll be 5 billion years before the sun burns out. And the only thing that is remotely likely to wipe out mankind is some sort of unprecedented sickness or something else natural i.e. a meteor. So be happy we will grow old :D

Which is probably for the best when you think about it. Peace allows stagnation , war nessitates advancement. Right, cause bombing one small island would have caused that much damage. Russia's population is only spread to about 54% of its entire landmass, and even then about 3 nuclear bombs would have made them surrender if placed correctly. It's like when the US dropped the bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. If the US would have just dropped it on Tokyo it would have been done after the first bomb. I am not trying to sound cruel, I am just being serious about the matter. One nuclear explosion placed in the right city in any country would ruin it. It is all a matter of placement.

      Dave Johnston what stupid ignorant you are! Unless you are 14 years old. The USSR had as much nuclear power as the US. The reason why the US never drop a nuclear bomb in the USSR is because the retaliation would have meant total devastation for both countries without a winner. That is what it was called "cold war". It was the impossibility of fighting a "real war" due to mutual extermination as the most likely outcome. So, just to lecture you a bit on the Cuban Missile Crisis, it wasn't a matter of bombing a small island. It was a matter that no matter who would drop the first bomb, it would have ended up in mutual extermination for the US and the USSR. That's why nobody shot the first bullet.

      MedievalManiac In a couple hundred years humans will look back on these pre-Type 1 days as simpler times. They'll see our photos and videos and wish they were here to experience it. Just like how we could look back on a black and white photo of a young couple having fun in the early 1960s and wonder what their life was like during those simpler times. I know that being type 1 is important, and I hope we get there, but I'm personally not in any rush. Why look back on these days with nostalgia when we can just enjoy them right now?

    Two weeks or so ago the coasts of BC, Washington, and Oregon got so hot that the barnacles died. A huge overheated area offshore is now becoming a huge dead zone.
    Becoming a higher order society seems impossible now. Collapse and a massive die off is now already irreversible. We have already committed planetary suicide. Reversing this, if possible, will require a quantum leap forward in human relations. But as we collapse all indicators point towards increased division.

      The solution is obvious implement a new RAX law, this RAX will cost income earners 10% of gross wages or profits we will use violence if necessary to acquire these funds called RAXes, it will be like TAX but not TAX its RAX unlike theft, the RAXes & TAXes are removed by force if necessary but not at all theft, in fact because I use a different word like RAX it is entirely different from the word theft or tax meaning exactly the same thing only for best intentions of course, RAXes can support people suffering from TAXes and theft the structural violence that these words represent against their victims. Like how Nelson Mendella used violence to solve an issue with violence, like sexually assaulting someone to solve an issue with rape. I know I know great Idea right, it was easy all I had to do was formulate a way to solve our issues based on what has never yet worked genius right!!!

    Scientists are awesome, but they are so illiterate in politics!!!!! The only way for us to get ready to go from type 0 to type 1 civilization, is to make the leap from warmongers to peaceful resolution of conflict through dialogue. Imperialism will never allow us to grow as a civilization achieving the necessary peace and skills for conflict resolution and will never allow our planetary economy to develop to the needed stage as to being capable to transition to a type 1 civilization. And the reason because you never hear one of these awesome scientist talk about this stuff, is because they will loose their jobs if they dare to. Censorship is another very clear trait of imperialism, and unfortunately there is a lot of self imposed censorship in the USA, particularly in the scientific community.

    Well i really hope we make it to type 1 and eventually type 2. I'm an optimist, but i can see a lot more pessimism in society most people i know are convinced there will be no human on earth in the next century...And every time you talk about globalism or "united" then there's this new world order stuff coming out, people also use the "human nature" argument.
    So much negativity regarding our future its very hard to be positive but hey.....If you think you can't, then you can't, so i remain positive, i believe science and technology can really help us (yes i'm a technocrat so fucking what?) shape a more green and sustainable society. I just think its better to embrace solutions rather then sitting there waiting for god to get pissed off....

      We won't make it to type 1. Do you know why solar powered or fuel-efficient cars aren't mass produced? The patents were bought by oil companies so that they could maintain their profit. Companies do this a lot. I'm willing to bet my life on the idea that somebody has found a cure to cancer but been snuffed out for infringing on profit. We'd be extremely technologically advanced by now if it weren't for the fact that companies are in control of the world.

      kre8noys As it stands, it seems like we're heading to a point where even if we realize it it will be too late. • @kre8noys

      Abandoned Void I don't think its too late, i mean yes corporations are powerful and all but who fills their pocket? Us, we empty our wallets so they can gain more, more, and more, the true nature of power is us, money is just paper with a number on it. We've just been brainwashed into thinking we were powerless.
      I agree with you though, by the time we realize it it may be too late but there's still hope.

      Pessimism plans for faults in society and fixes it to a point in which it won't break again. Optimism fixes it once or twice and hopes it won't fall down. Thus, pessimism is the only way to make sure a society and civilization will not fall.

    It depends on how NASA handles the dangerous module of hangars.
    We still don't have a open hangar on the international space station and the fear of solar winds are gravity treating the scoop as a cup and pushing it in the opposite direction of the station where the kinetic energy contorts mangles the hangar is a problematic issue.

    If you give think Love is something you feel the greed as soon as someone wants to take it!
    If you give Love and say I love when she's around I love her smile, you will feel jealous when she's not around, you will experience jealousy when she will smile not because you caused it.
    From this it follows that after giving a thought object, or living being arise, the sense corresponding to the previously endowed with thought. Tois) human consciousness consists of flue thoughts in the past.
