I like to think this is how Rustage thought process went with the sister fights “Okay they just defeated Ninny and Demure now there gonna go up against Nurse and Malady its going to be tough fight for them but it should be a good enough to laat a chunk of the episode” Malady gets fucking killed in the first couple rounds and Nurse is taken down the next few turns “Okay shit I didn’t think it would be that quick alright ill just throw in Joy and Kip i cant have all the sisters be in custody that quickly there a bit stronger but if they just talk it out and plan carefully this should go over…” Joy and Kip but thrown into the water with now 6 of the 7 sisters out in just one episode “…Fuck it might as well get Malice in and kill them all”
I’m just waiting for the inevitable Kai promotion after this arc. People misunderstanding his actions as noble and well thought out as an ideal marine has gotta be my favorite running gag.
Me too, but something tells me that if he somehow survives this (or any of them do for that matter) that he will have a big moment and strengthen his resolve to protect people. Not that he'd turn into Yokan or Damian or anything, but that he'd find his own sense of justice.
we know kai is a coward and has a soft spot for joy and we know damien is all about law, until he thinks they should team up with pirates haha. kinda hypocritical hopping on kai so much. though ik ofc they arent actually mad. plus the underwater thing would have been much simpler if he meta gamed like he knew what was happening up top. bros just staying in character
They're both acting perfectly in character. The real question is whether Kai will actually stay in the Marines and in the campaign, or if he'll get kicked out. ... OR if the Sisters are right and Damian is legit evil, maybe the rest of the gang turns on him in the future and HE leaves the campaign. Either way, it's gonna be hard for Kai and Damian to fully reconcile in-character (they could just sort of handwave it out-of-character for the purposes of the campaign, though.) And to be clear I'm talking about *characters* getting knocked out of the campaign, not players. If either Kai or Damian died or was written out due to tensions in the crew, Tekking/Noble would just make a new character. These tensions are entirely in-character and have nothing to do with the players as far as I'm aware.

Kai is a Chaotic Good character who accidentally stumbled into a Lawful Evil organization. Damian is a Lawful Neutral who just takes his orders and dishes out the law without involving his own opinions much at all (as far as we know at least, he's been pretty mysterious). It was pretty inevitable that there would be some tension between them, but I never would've foreseen it escalating this much in only 9 episodes. Great job everyone, very engaging stuff. You guys have all improved a lot since the early days of OPD&D.
Best thing about Marines is that Rustage unironically loves the organization, but Noble still grasps that they are the arm of a totalitarian regime, hence just always bringing the reality of the situation into each episode. Spooky and Briggs are doing pretty much the same character arc (different race realizing the structural racism in their org). Kai's thing is that he's just a guy who was essentially isekai'd into the One Piece world. For him, it's basically a wacky sitcom plot/horror movie.
Yokan's characters arc is more about her idea of what pirates and marines are and what they should be being challenged. Bradley on the other hand understands the racism that exists but still wants to connect with people and understand them despite that. Kai is a dude who is way in over his head and slowly realising that being a marine means sacrificing and taking decisions he's not prepared to.
@@sid1925 Yeah, Yokan and Bradley are still different people, but they will ultimately contend with the same antagonist in terms of the celestial dragons. Yokan is more geared towards the disillusionment and Bradley's is more on the racism. Kai's thing is a situational comedy. Basically, that episode of futurama/family guy/the simpsons, where the characters join the army and immediately realize that they made a big mistake.
This is honestly one of my favorrite epsiodes of all 3 campaigns. I adore the genuine rage between Damein and Kai and the conflict of morality vs justice
Damien isn't evil. he is at very most slightly cold and ruthless which is occasionally played up for comedic effect or for intimidation. Damien's main objectives is fulfill orders and arrest criminals which the sisters are. He knows the armour is dangerous and doesn't want it to fall into the wrong hands which in damien's eyes would be anyone who breaks the law. Kai isn't stupid. The sisters up to this point are very clearly portrayed as not evil. He sees that both sides won't back down regarding the armour and are resolved to kill and die for it to not be in the other's possession so he wanted to avoid conflict. He doesn't want his friends and people he sees as not villains/his crush to get hurt. However kai is still very racist and should be relegated to bathroom cleaning duties for the rest of the campaign. Joking aside, damn this is an interesting situation, can't wait to see where it leads. Also based galactic football enjoyer.

I fully agree with you on this, I m not really vibing with Damian but that's mainly because we don't have the full armor lore yet, hopefully Malice and Damian will explain stuff next episode and come to a not too bloodbathy conclusion. I personally want none of the people present to die.

1:28:00 DUDE HOLY SHIT. This is one of my favourite fights in any of Rustage’s DNDs. This whole thing is so cinematic, and everyone has gotten so much better at role playing, it feels so damn real. This is such a fantastically done dilemma by Rustage, and amplified by the other characters, especially Damian and Kai. The fact they’re using the environment so much is amazing as well! As the air thins and the tension rises Rordon Gamsay rushes towards malody and screams "FUCK YOU, YOU KILLED MY BESTFRIEND" as his flame covered knives and cleavers slice through flesh,tubes,machinery and limbs pushing malody back bit per bit oil splattering everywhere rordon sheating and unsheating to reapply oil and flames on his knives everywhere switching from one knife to the other and his last strike punches her a little but too far away from his reach but in a millisecond a cannister flies through her skull and she flops on the floor and her blood start spilling everywhere
Intro always fire. Also this episode starting the moments of "are we the bad guys" Will Yokan learn the nuances of the season... will Bradley find his sister... we shall see.
Damien is somehow my least favorite character but also the character I think is the most interesting. He is such a cop in the worse way possible. I feel like Duros character was showing that not all pirates are evil, that they're are good pirates and I feel like Damian is the exact opposite of Duros in terms of personality but also the fact that not all marines are exactly good people and that the law and what's right and Justice are different things. Also I really like the dynamic between Kai and Damian because they are so strongly on opposite ends of the morality spectrum when it comes to being a Marine. It almost feels like Akiniu and Akoji. Also how the party is made up on the morality scale is great, Yoki being more on Damian side of the scale where Bradley feels more on Kai's and Tiger being the middle point is just excellent. The series has been great so far and I'm very excited to see where it goes.
I also love how Duros was a good pirate because he wasn't much of a pirate at all, he was a ruler at heart but refused to believe that about himself until the end. Damian is a good Marine because he's too much of a Marine, their words are law to him. He's perfect for the position, almost too perfect.
Man Damian is so stubborn, but I cant be mad. He is playing his character well. its interesting how stubborn Yokan can be and you would expect form intitial expectation be the most stubborn and wouldnn't compromise. But I think Yokan will be the first to come to a better undertstanding how to be a true marine likle Coby and Garp
I mean he's a leader where one of his team members just told him he doesn't care about 1- the mission 2- your group and has actively helped the enemy in combat. He def shouldn't budge on this

That’s also one argument I have with people saying Kai would get Court marshalled. Damien also could potentially get in trouble in a real world setting. The military doesn’t look fondly on commanders making decisions that kill their whole squad.
@@ShadowknightEX Exactly! Kai noticed how bad the situation was getting and managed to negotiate a tactical retreat, but the group decided to keep fighting which led to Kai’s breaking point. The party could have rested, called reinforcements, or maybe even try to find somewhere on the island where they could have resupply their Medkits, and they would have still had ninny to use as leverage, but because Damien chose to fight the situation got more dangerous, it was only thanks to Bradley’s idea of using the water, that no one else ended up dying. And even after the fight Damien had realized the party needed to rest anyway, but it was too late because malice had already shown up. The party is wounded, tired and now fractured and while going up against the strongest sister, if anyone dies in the that encounter it’s on Damien, and I’m not saying any of this to bash noble he played Damien’s character perfectly, I understand why Damien as a character would make the choices he made. Damien has had a one track minded obsession with the armor since the first time he heard about it, it makes sense that he doesn’t want to risk losing it when it’s so close, but none of that matters if the party dies.
@@HardcoreLevelingBaka I wouldn’t give Kai that much credit. Kai definitely acted more on personal interest than for the betterment of his team. But it is arguably the better decision regardless as at the very least Yokan and Kai himself have had a bad day (to say the least). Either way this is definitely a situation where both sides have solid points but neither is wholly in the right.
This episode was huge! Kai as a character skyrocketed for me this episode. And I love the seven sister, especially the sleepy one and smile. I love them. But the conflict between Kai and Damian was amazing, they both stayed in charcter so well!. Fav part this episode: 1:50:52 Im so excited for the next episode and whats going to be revealed with Damians past and stuff.
You know. In hindsight getting rid of a character that carries around a bunch of tubes full with unknown green ooze was probably one of the best calls the party made. Anyway, who wants to bet that she will be back ?

I have no idea how things are gonna go next episode. They're beat to shit and Malice is there but even if she just shows up to collect her sisters and leave, what happens to the Branch? I don't know how Kai can stay in it, he hates it there and fundamentally disagrees with both Damian and Yokan's way of doing things. The only way I can see this going so that he stays is that Damian arrests him and plans to turn him in for treason/desertion, then maybe when different members of the Branch talk to him and depending what happens/get revealed at the end of the fight with the sisters, they might all have revelations (maybe not Damian) about the marines and free him under the condition that he stays in the navy to make the marines better/fix the system or whatever.
Yeah. I’m definitely under the impression that Yokan and Bradley are eventually gonna have their own moments of being done with the marines. There’s no way that the atrocities of the world Government don’t come into play in this Dnd series

Imagine if the main crew end up becoming the first CP0 operatives! They could be known as CP1 since they'd be the very first team to hold such a prestigious position within the World Government. The dynamics and challenges this would introduce to the story would be absolutely epic!
If they become the legendary CP1 then they would probably get way stronger. Here is how I imagine them as CP1 agents: Bradley would be the Sea Beast Karate (advanced version of sea beast karate) master, Rokushiki pro, and a martial arts ninja, sporting armor crafted from fearsome sea creature parts. It's like ninja gear on steroids-light as a feather, hits like a freight train, and no clanging noises (ahem... Damian). Plus, bone gauntlets crafter from the Teeth and bones of the strongest creatures would make him a Sea Beast himself at that point lol. Kai, after gaining experience and going through life-changing events, becomes fearless and cold possessing an extremely powerful will. Due to this, he unlocks Conqueror's Haki! But that's not all-he becomes a Portal Marksman; he would have a gun that ate a portal devil fruit and shoots portals. And here's the kicker: he can shoot portals, then fire his other guns loaded with seastone bullets (as well as different types of bullets like poisonous bullets, etc.) through the portals at his enemies. Also he can launch surprise attacks or plan an escape at any moment he needs. He would attack you out of nowhere, Damian meets a top tier scientist (maybe Vegapunk, that would make sense as he is highly linked with the World Government) and unlocks his newest Upgrade. As a cyborg, he'd become a walking arsenal-turning his body into powerful weapons, Shooting out elements like lightning and fire, and more cool cyborg tricks than you can count! Maybe he could even have a final form where he becomes a coder - just one that can alter the "code" of reality! Yokan might snack on a special Devil Fruit granting her access to the astral realm. Picture this: her astral self traveling to spy on distant islands, converse with astral beings, and accumulate wisdom. Also she can gain powers similar to "Monk: Way of the Astral Self" And merge her astral limbs with reality to create some unreal (pun intended) attacks. Advanced Observation Haki would be the cherry on top. The only plot hole is how did CP1 go from this monstrosity to something so weak, lol (no offense Lucci.)
Do we have any reason to believe that CP0 doesn't exist already? I assumed it was as old as the other Cipher Pol squads. Also what do you mean they'd become CP1? If they were in CP0 they'd be CP0. I'm pretty sure CP1 is supposed to be the weakest Cipher Pol squad, with CP9 and CP0 being the strongest. Unless you mean that they'd be the first Cipher Pol squad of any kind, which I also don't think makes any sense - Cipher Pol should already exist at this point. I don't think we have a concrete date for when Rustage's campaigns take place, but considering the original campaign is well after Roger's death and this campaign is 10 years later, there's no way it's more than 20 years before the start of the canon story, which is the first time we see CP9 in canon (Ohara). If you include non-canon stuff like movies then the confirmed history goes back even farther.

This was one, if not the best Episode of OP D&D we had imo. Kai taking the other side, Yokan nit knowing what to do, Damian beeing Damian and Bradley permanently doing Hit an Run thru the Water. Also the fact that Kai has Aquatic Creature was soo good. I just wished Tiger would stand by Sisters or Kai, becuse he did not want to fight. Not like help them, but refuse to Fight them.
“I don’t give a fuck about the goddamn mission, Damian!!!” Chills. I’ve never seen Tekking go that hard in the entirety of the last campaign and it felt monumental as the first real issue between the members of the party (Ragnar was ultimately cool with them destroying his drugs, he got why they did it, so it doesn’t count.) This scene was perfect, I do wish that Spooky didn’t interrupt with the comedic fruit thing to stop Kai though. It felt like taking his moment away from him a bit.

That may seem evil but the kid was not innocent don't kid your self, damian also didn't kill the kid or even half the people he said he was going to kill so he's most of the time just talk. He didn't say he wouldn't feel bad just that'll he'll perform the act of murder to prevent his friends from dying, its not irredeemable as the kid would have killed everyone else. Also the fact that a kid is the one doing this shouldn't even be considered a factor he may not understand the full reproduction of his actions doesn't mean you should let the kid kill people.

I get the feeling SWORD is gonna be involved with the endgame of this campaign. There is just no way that At the very least Yokan and Bradley also lose faith in the marines. Damien is the one I’m less sure of honestly
According to the wiki Jasper was imprisoned for seven years making it so that it was 17 years ago that the uprising in Tarako Kingdom happened. Damian is in his 30s so at his very oldest (39) Damián was 22 years old during the Tarako Uprising but at his very youngest (30) Damian was 13 years old during the Tarako Uprising. If Damian was anywhere close to his youngest possible age there is no way he got out of that without some mental scarring. Not to mention if Damian did design the Black Knight armor that means he's a prodigy. Also at that young age it would be very easy to trick a very young Damian into using the Black Knight armor to stop the Tarako Uprising especially if he had help at such a young age to build it through contact with V and financial backing of the Marines. Now why bring up V simple really V would probably be the only one to teach Damian Quantum Physics due to V building a spaceship. Not to mention is probably the one who taught Damian how to build cybernetics and if not him then it was Captain Verona who taught Damian. The only Cyborgs we've seen in One piece D&D is from that family line so it wouldn't be that far of stretch to connect Damian to Verona's family line when it comes to Cybernetics. Now that I've said what I needed about V and his bloodline let's get back to Damian himself. If we take all of the above into account then it would be more akin to a mech then anything resembling a normal suit of armor which would explain why it's so darn powerful. A mech that normal people probably will not be able to pilot without their bodies breaking down. If the Black Knight was able to kill most of the rebellion during Tarako Uprising by itself it would put extreme strain on the body causing their limps to be destroyed and their internal organs to rupture. Damian has cybernetic limps, cybernetic stomach, member and who knows what else is replaced with its cybernetic equivalent. Having to replace so many parts of himself would explain why there was such a large gap between his one previous mission in his career and the start of One Piece D&D Marines not to mention why he still held the rank of Seaman Recruit. Also to those who say that Damian is on track to be Akainu really are blind to the many times that Damian has non-lethally taken down his foes. Yes he was willing to kill an orphan child but that was when the debate was that he couldn't reach the cabin where the kid was but since he could reach the child he knocked the child out. It should also be mentioned that very same child was using shipping containers as a giant flail to pummel the Party, so it's not like the child is innocent. Damian seems to want to put criminals behind bars not kill criminals and when Kai said all of what he did Damian was just going to knock him out not kill him which puts him above Akainu. Another reason why Damian is not another Akainu is that Damian has showed concern towards those under his command. Plus Akainu would never team up with Criminals unlike Damian who agreed teaming up with a Mafia group would help with taking the Seven Sisters down. There's more factors pointing towards Damian not being close to Akainu-like. Does Damain believe in Justice and upholding the Law? Yes Damian does believe in both of those. Does Damain kill anyone that stands against him? No the only two individuals that Damain has killed was one pirate who he killed without his superiors' orders in episode 1 or 2 and Malady in this episode. Now onto Damian quotes to prove those who say Damian is Akainu-like wrong. ”I don’t think killing fellow marines is a great idea, even if he is…Taiga.” Akainu is known to kill fellow marines who disagree with him. "Look, sometimes the enemy of the enemy is our friend, I've learned that from the marines over many years. And right now... you're just our enemy." Damian right here is saying right now we're enemies maybe someday after you've done your time we can be temporary allies. "The Marines are our family now." Damian saying this gets me thinking that Damian is also a Orphan While yes Damian also has some quotes that seem Akainu-like he also has some that are very neutral in deposition. Something to also to remember about Damian is that he's a cold, calculated, serious and logical person. He bases his opinions off of facts and the law. As a person he has a strong sense of morality and tries to do the right thing while still following his duties as a marine.

The crits have been insane, you kinda know when a crit will happen, the moment they need a crit they get the crit. Olso, if joy and kai don't get together after that crit, im going to be so sad because some conquerers haki went into that shit.
Also, here is my personal two cents on the situation. Kai: One thing people forget is that Kai the first NPC in either campaign to be adverse to the idea of killing. Most of his very few kills have come from his harpoon, which he has no control over. Violence for the sake of violence when there is a better solution is pointless, and even if there isn’t a better solution, that doesn’t necessarily mean that anyone has to die. Kai understands that because he is the only one who doesn’t expect anything from the Marines. Damian and Yolanda are devoutly loyal and have false ideas of what the Marines truly stand for and Bradley doesn’t know about the way the Celestial Dragons treat fishmen, and just understands that they “kill pirates.” Kai is supposed to be the man on the street, the average guy with an average moral code who can see things in an unbiased way. As it’s for that very reason that he can see not only how Damian’s loyalty is blinding him to more peaceful alternatives, but how the other’s loyalties to Damian through the Marines prevent them from using their own moral compasses or common sense, because they believe that the Marines are good and he stands for the Marines. Yes, Kai likes Joy, but Tekking actively admitted that’s not the main reason Kai protected her. He was tired of seeing people die for nothing, tired of listening to a man who protects human lives but who doesn’t value them. Kai isn’t always the brightest or the most aware, but his moral compass allows him to understand things better than anyone else. Not only that, he’s notoriously a bit cowardly at times, but when push came to shove, he fought through that to protect people that he thought was innocent, and I think that’s commendable. From my perspective, he’s definitely in the right, and even Noble would probably agree since Damian is written to be more of the problem than the solution. That being said, I think that Kai will learn that because he values innocent lives more than anything, that’s why he needs to be a Marine, to actually be someone who can protect them. (Side note, something clearly happened to someone close to him, leaving him with a fear of devil fruits. He claims that he joined the Marjnes to get away from it all. Maybe because he lost someone close to him, he understands that it shouldn’t be allowed to happen to anyone else.) Damian: Definitely more of an antihero (though I doubt that will last after this fight with Malice, I’ll get to that in a sec.) He lives by the code of the World Government to the letter. Anyone who acts in accordance with these rules, good or bad, is good and anyone who breaks a single rule, good or bad, is not only evil, but due to be eliminated. He claims to be about justice, but he hardly has any real sense for it, he just follows orders without thinking. Regardless of whether those orders are correct or not, he clearly doesn’t care either way as long as the direct laws are followed. Even Bailey, a good marine and his superior, was stunned by his extremism and the brutality that often comes with it. The only exceptions are Marines, since he naturally believes everyone else to be like him unless they display traits that prove otherwise. He let some of Kai’s actions slide because he was a Marine until the moment he admitted that he didn’t want to be one, at which point he immediately went out for blood. Lives don’t seem to matter to him, he’s taken far too many himself for them to truly be worth anything, (we don’t know his full backstory but he’s clearly the Black Knight who ruthlessly killed good knights just because he was told to) he just knows that the code is what matters, that it is all that matters, and that breaking it is punishable by death (his loyalty has not yet been explained, so the motivation is still up in the air, I’m just basing things off of Noble and Damian’s words and actions) If I had to guess, hearing Malice’s story is going to make him realize the impact of his actions and how it hurts the very innocents he claims to protect with his life, making him reevaluate everything and possibly even come out better for it. Anyways, those are my thoughts and musings, feel free to comment.
Kai has the most actual kills in this campaign while malady is Damian's first actual kill. If the harpoon is out of kais control why isn't the homing missle from Damian the same thing in your opinion. Kai killed a man who fairly bought an item he wanted and took it off his body. Damian has on multiple occasions tried to and succeeded in detaining criminals without killing them. They literally didn't on the beach against the other sisters. And if he was this just kill to get it down solider he would have killed nurse. Even on bollywood island Damian tried to destroy the librarian's canon before attacking her an active demonstration of preserving a life over the quick way to solve the mission. Your evaluation of the situation isn't accurate because you said your looking at nobles actions and words but none of the actions point to that and noble always says if we have to we will do this. And yes if someone is fighting you to the death like every situation the crew has been in you have to do what you can to survive. If he just followed the marine code he wouldn't have wanted to go after the sisters anyway since his branch leaders said they can't touch them thanks to the law. Damian only wanted to knock kai out not kill and it was because this time wasn't like his previous insubordinate actions. He actively attacked his fellow marine that's not the same as not engaging the enemy.
Moral code? Kai wanted to kill a guy who won a harpoon that he wanted at the auction, and his "very few kills" has given him the highest kill count of the entire party. Also if Joy was ugly he would not be simping this hard. He's worse than Sanji cause at least Sanji was willing to look the other way for Robin fighting Black Maria.
Irregardless of how many kills Damian has gotten, he was literally open to killing a child without hesitation. Also, it's not like Damian wouldn't want his homing missiles to kill, he absolutely would. Also, yes, he was against letting Malady go at the throne room, but I also remember him distinctly identifying her as a criminal and thus an enemy of the Marines. Damian follows the word of the World Government, but he's also smart enough to know when someone or some group is going against them, and would thus account for that, even overaccounting for that like he did with Kai. He recognized Malady as a criminal and was thus adverse to letting her get her way. Damian may be sociopathic, but he's the antithesis of being corrupt. He does bad things, but he would never let a criminal go under the majority of circumstances. Again, all that matters to him is the Marine's justice, and anyone in organized crime is immediately seen as an affront to that. Still, he follows the law as much as he can which is exactly why he let her go in the end, waiting until the situation with the armor to directly take action. He knew it wasn't within his rights. It was only after he got proof of their involvement that he leaped into action. Side note: (I still stand by my point about Kai, Tekking is just also known for making crazy decisions when he has the impulse to do so (look at William), and in that moment getting the Mako object was all that really seemed to matter to him. Besides, that situation was already bad enough without pulling punches. Besides, Kai had a very pronounced reaction to killing someone in episode 1, being horrified and almost trying to quit immediately before Yokan quickly brought him back in line. I feel like the players in this campaign aren't always entirely consistent, so I'm just going to take the character moment over the combat moment in this regard. The bottom line is, he clearly knew that killing the sisters was entirely wrong, and I'm going to trust Tekking that he didn't do it just to simp.)@@blackpeoplestorytime802

He would’ve killed a child because he almost didn’t surrender fast enough. 4. I wouldn’t call what Kai did attacking more like restraining lmao.
1:50:49 This scene made me love Kai completely, i always liked kai in general being the one to be the moral compass and in his own words from session 1/2 to see the world not as white and black but shades of grey. Its ironic the weakest member is the one with those moral priorities while the others with tons of strengths don't care to look deeper into things. Kai isn't the best person, he's selfish, clumsy, somewhat a perv. And down right a coward how should never hold a gun... however he will be the first to try and calm things down so to see him finally snap and vocalize his want to leave truly makes me happy and shows hes not just characters relief but something much more

They're both acting perfectly in character. The real question is whether Kai will actually stay in the Marines and in the campaign, or if he'll get kicked out.
... OR if the Sisters are right and Damian is legit evil, maybe the rest of the gang turns on him in the future and HE leaves the campaign. Either way, it's gonna be hard for Kai and Damian to fully reconcile in-character (they could just sort of handwave it out-of-character for the purposes of the campaign, though.)
And to be clear I'm talking about *characters* getting knocked out of the campaign, not players. If either Kai or Damian died or was written out due to tensions in the crew, Tekking/Noble would just make a new character. These tensions are entirely in-character and have nothing to do with the players as far as I'm aware.

His affection for Joy lead him to display his negotiating skills, brokered a truce with the Seven Sisters(that ultimately fell apart). (Handwritten note: Racist? Apologized.)
Belle: Keeping Kai in line with a healthy diet of cheek pinching, keep her conscious as much as possible.
Bradley: His talent with ranged Fishman Karate is impressive for how little training he's had with it. Hell of a grappler, could be a pretty good pro wrestler.

This is R63 Arzen and is the only one of the sisters to have died. I’m putting down that she will also pull an Arzen and come back as a slime man and perfect doppelgänger.
Kai is a Chaotic Good character who accidentally stumbled into a Lawful Evil organization. Damian is a Lawful Neutral who just takes his orders and dishes out the law without involving his own opinions much at all (as far as we know at least, he's been pretty mysterious). It was pretty inevitable that there would be some tension between them, but I never would've foreseen it escalating this much in only 9 episodes. Great job everyone, very engaging stuff. You guys have all improved a lot since the early days of OPD&D.
Best thing about Marines is that Rustage unironically loves the organization, but Noble still grasps that they are the arm of a totalitarian regime, hence just always bringing the reality of the situation into each episode. Spooky and Briggs are doing pretty much the same character arc (different race realizing the structural racism in their org). Kai's thing is that he's just a guy who was essentially isekai'd into the One Piece world. For him, it's basically a wacky sitcom plot/horror movie.
Yokan's characters arc is more about her idea of what pirates and marines are and what they should be being challenged.
Bradley on the other hand understands the racism that exists but still wants to connect with people and understand them despite that.
Kai is a dude who is way in over his head and slowly realising that being a marine means sacrificing and taking decisions he's not prepared to.
@@sid1925 Yeah, Yokan and Bradley are still different people, but they will ultimately contend with the same antagonist in terms of the celestial dragons. Yokan is more geared towards the disillusionment and Bradley's is more on the racism. Kai's thing is a situational comedy. Basically, that episode of futurama/family guy/the simpsons, where the characters join the army and immediately realize that they made a big mistake.

This is honestly one of my favorrite epsiodes of all 3 campaigns. I adore the genuine rage between Damein and Kai and the conflict of morality vs justice
Damien isn't evil. he is at very most slightly cold and ruthless which is occasionally played up for comedic effect or for intimidation.
Damien's main objectives is fulfill orders and arrest criminals which the sisters are.
He knows the armour is dangerous and doesn't want it to fall into the wrong hands which in damien's eyes would be anyone who breaks the law.
Kai isn't stupid. The sisters up to this point are very clearly portrayed as not evil.
He sees that both sides won't back down regarding the armour and are resolved to kill and die for it to not be in the other's possession so he wanted to avoid conflict. He doesn't want his friends and people he sees as not villains/his crush to get hurt.
However kai is still very racist and should be relegated to bathroom cleaning duties for the rest of the campaign.
Joking aside, damn this is an interesting situation, can't wait to see where it leads.

I fully agree with you on this, I m not really vibing with Damian but that's mainly because we don't have the full armor lore yet, hopefully Malice and Damian will explain stuff next episode and come to a not too bloodbathy conclusion. I personally want none of the people present to die.

1:28:00 DUDE HOLY SHIT. This is one of my favourite fights in any of Rustage’s DNDs. This whole thing is so cinematic, and everyone has gotten so much better at role playing, it feels so damn real. This is such a fantastically done dilemma by Rustage, and amplified by the other characters, especially Damian and Kai. The fact they’re using the environment so much is amazing as well! Awesome episode

Damien is somehow my least favorite character but also the character I think is the most interesting. He is such a cop in the worse way possible. I feel like Duros character was showing that not all pirates are evil, that they're are good pirates and I feel like Damian is the exact opposite of Duros in terms of personality but also the fact that not all marines are exactly good people and that the law and what's right and Justice are different things. Also I really like the dynamic between Kai and Damian because they are so strongly on opposite ends of the morality spectrum when it comes to being a Marine. It almost feels like Akiniu and Akoji. Also how the party is made up on the morality scale is great, Yoki being more on Damian side of the scale where Bradley feels more on Kai's and Tiger being the middle point is just excellent. The series has been great so far and I'm very excited to see where it goes.
I also love how Duros was a good pirate because he wasn't much of a pirate at all, he was a ruler at heart but refused to believe that about himself until the end.
Damian is a good Marine because he's too much of a Marine, their words are law to him. He's perfect for the position, almost too perfect.
Man Damian is so stubborn, but I cant be mad. He is playing his character well. its interesting how stubborn Yokan can be and you would expect form intitial expectation be the most stubborn and wouldnn't compromise. But I think Yokan will be the first to come to a better undertstanding how to be a true marine likle Coby and Garp

That’s also one argument I have with people saying Kai would get Court marshalled. Damien also could potentially get in trouble in a real world setting. The military doesn’t look fondly on commanders making decisions that kill their whole squad.

Kai noticed how bad the situation was getting and managed to negotiate a tactical retreat, but the group decided to keep fighting which led to Kai’s breaking point.
The party could have rested, called reinforcements, or maybe even try to find somewhere on the island where they could have resupply their Medkits, and they would have still had ninny to use as leverage, but because Damien chose to fight the situation got more dangerous, it was only thanks to Bradley’s idea of using the water, that no one else ended up dying. And even after the fight Damien had realized the party needed to rest anyway, but it was too late because malice had already shown up.
The party is wounded, tired and now fractured and while going up against the strongest sister, if anyone dies in the that encounter it’s on Damien, and I’m not saying any of this to bash noble he played Damien’s character perfectly, I understand why Damien as a character would make the choices he made.
Damien has had a one track minded obsession with the armor since the first time he heard about it, it makes sense that he doesn’t want to risk losing it when it’s so close, but none of that matters if the party dies.
@@HardcoreLevelingBaka I wouldn’t give Kai that much credit. Kai definitely acted more on personal interest than for the betterment of his team. But it is arguably the better decision regardless as at the very least Yokan and Kai himself have had a bad day (to say the least).
Either way this is definitely a situation where both sides have solid points but neither is wholly in the right.
This episode was huge! Kai as a character skyrocketed for me this episode. And I love the seven sister, especially the sleepy one and smile. I love them. But the conflict between Kai and Damian was amazing, they both stayed in charcter so well!. Fav part this episode: 1:50:52

I have no idea how things are gonna go next episode. They're beat to shit and Malice is there but even if she just shows up to collect her sisters and leave, what happens to the Branch? I don't know how Kai can stay in it, he hates it there and fundamentally disagrees with both Damian and Yokan's way of doing things. The only way I can see this going so that he stays is that Damian arrests him and plans to turn him in for treason/desertion, then maybe when different members of the Branch talk to him and depending what happens/get revealed at the end of the fight with the sisters, they might all have revelations (maybe not Damian) about the marines and free him under the condition that he stays in the navy to make the marines better/fix the system or whatever.
Yeah. I’m definitely under the impression that Yokan and Bradley are eventually gonna have their own moments of being done with the marines. There’s no way that the atrocities of the world Government don’t come into play in this Dnd series

Imagine if the main crew end up becoming the first CP0 operatives! They could be known as CP1 since they'd be the very first team to hold such a prestigious position within the World Government. The dynamics and challenges this would introduce to the story would be absolutely epic!
If they become the legendary CP1 then they would probably get way stronger. Here is how I imagine them as CP1 agents:
Bradley would be the Sea Beast Karate (advanced version of sea beast karate) master, Rokushiki pro, and a martial arts ninja, sporting armor crafted from fearsome sea creature parts. It's like ninja gear on steroids-light as a feather, hits like a freight train, and no clanging noises (ahem... Damian). Plus, bone gauntlets crafter from the Teeth and bones of the strongest creatures would make him a Sea Beast himself at that point lol.
Kai, after gaining experience and going through life-changing events, becomes fearless and cold possessing an extremely powerful will. Due to this, he unlocks Conqueror's Haki! But that's not all-he becomes a Portal Marksman; he would have a gun that ate a portal devil fruit and shoots portals. And here's the kicker: he can shoot portals, then fire his other guns loaded with seastone bullets (as well as different types of bullets like poisonous bullets, etc.) through the portals at his enemies. Also he can launch surprise attacks or plan an escape at any moment he needs. He would attack you out of nowhere,
Damian meets a top tier scientist (maybe Vegapunk, that would make sense as he is highly linked with the World Government) and unlocks his newest Upgrade. As a cyborg, he'd become a walking arsenal-turning his body into powerful weapons, Shooting out elements like lightning and fire, and more cool cyborg tricks than you can count! Maybe he could even have a final form where he becomes a coder - just one that can alter the "code" of reality!
Yokan might snack on a special Devil Fruit granting her access to the astral realm. Picture this: her astral self traveling to spy on distant islands, converse with astral beings, and accumulate wisdom. Also she can gain powers similar to "Monk: Way of the Astral Self" And merge her astral limbs with reality to create some unreal (pun intended) attacks. Advanced Observation Haki would be the cherry on top.
The only plot hole is how did CP1 go from this monstrosity to something so weak, lol (no offense Lucci.)
Do we have any reason to believe that CP0 doesn't exist already? I assumed it was as old as the other Cipher Pol squads. Also what do you mean they'd become CP1? If they were in CP0 they'd be CP0. I'm pretty sure CP1 is supposed to be the weakest Cipher Pol squad, with CP9 and CP0 being the strongest.
Unless you mean that they'd be the first Cipher Pol squad of any kind, which I also don't think makes any sense - Cipher Pol should already exist at this point. I don't think we have a concrete date for when Rustage's campaigns take place, but considering the original campaign is well after Roger's death and this campaign is 10 years later, there's no way it's more than 20 years before the start of the canon story, which is the first time we see CP9 in canon (Ohara). If you include non-canon stuff like movies then the confirmed history goes back even farther.

“I don’t give a fuck about the goddamn mission, Damian!!!” Chills. I’ve never seen Tekking go that hard in the entirety of the last campaign and it felt monumental as the first real issue between the members of the party (Ragnar was ultimately cool with them destroying his drugs, he got why they did it, so it doesn’t count.) This scene was perfect, I do wish that Spooky didn’t interrupt with the comedic fruit thing to stop Kai though. It felt like taking his moment away from him a bit.

@Taz-ey4jl all that damian knew was the kid was going to kill them, and in a scenario where damian had no choice and it's between his crew or the kid he'd pick his crew. That may seem evil but the kid was not innocent don't kid your self, damian also didn't kill the kid or even half the people he said he was going to kill so he's most of the time just talk. He didn't say he wouldn't feel bad just that'll he'll perform the act of murder to prevent his friends from dying, its not irredeemable as the kid would have killed everyone else.
Also the fact that a kid is the one doing this shouldn't even be considered a factor he may not understand the full reproduction of his actions doesn't mean you should let the kid kill people.

According to the wiki Jasper was imprisoned for seven years making it so that it was 17 years ago that the uprising in Tarako Kingdom happened. Damian is in his 30s so at his very oldest (39) Damián was 22 years old during the Tarako Uprising but at his very youngest (30) Damian was 13 years old during the Tarako Uprising.
If Damian was anywhere close to his youngest possible age there is no way he got out of that without some mental scarring. Not to mention if Damian did design the Black Knight armor that means he's a prodigy. Also at that young age it would be very easy to trick a very young Damian into using the Black Knight armor to stop the Tarako Uprising especially if he had help at such a young age to build it through contact with V and financial backing of the Marines.
Now why bring up V simple really V would probably be the only one to teach Damian Quantum Physics due to V building a spaceship. Not to mention is probably the one who taught Damian how to build cybernetics and if not him then it was Captain Verona who taught Damian. The only Cyborgs we've seen in One piece D&D is from that family line so it wouldn't be that far of stretch to connect Damian to Verona's family line when it comes to Cybernetics.
Now that I've said what I needed about V and his bloodline let's get back to Damian himself. If we take all of the above into account then it would be more akin to a mech then anything resembling a normal suit of armor which would explain why it's so darn powerful. A mech that normal people probably will not be able to pilot without their bodies breaking down. If the Black Knight was able to kill most of the rebellion during Tarako Uprising by itself it would put extreme strain on the body causing their limps to be destroyed and their internal organs to rupture.
Damian has cybernetic limps, cybernetic stomach, member and who knows what else is replaced with its cybernetic equivalent. Having to replace so many parts of himself would explain why there was such a large gap between his one previous mission in his career and the start of One Piece D&D Marines not to mention why he still held the rank of Seaman Recruit.
Also to those who say that Damian is on track to be Akainu really are blind to the many times that Damian has non-lethally taken down his foes. Yes he was willing to kill an orphan child but that was when the debate was that he couldn't reach the cabin where the kid was but since he could reach the child he knocked the child out. It should also be mentioned that very same child was using shipping containers as a giant flail to pummel the Party, so it's not like the child is innocent.
Damian seems to want to put criminals behind bars not kill criminals and when Kai said all of what he did Damian was just going to knock him out not kill him which puts him above Akainu. Another reason why Damian is not another Akainu is that Damian has showed concern towards those under his command. Plus Akainu would never team up with Criminals unlike Damian who agreed teaming up with a Mafia group would help with taking the Seven Sisters down. There's more factors pointing towards Damian not being close to Akainu-like.
Does Damain believe in Justice and upholding the Law? Yes Damian does believe in both of those. Does Damain kill anyone that stands against him? No the only two individuals that Damain has killed was one pirate who he killed without his superiors' orders in episode 1 or 2 and Malady in this episode.
Now onto Damian quotes to prove those who say Damian is Akainu-like wrong.
”I don’t think killing fellow marines is a great idea, even if he is…Taiga.” Akainu is known to kill fellow marines who disagree with him.
"Look, sometimes the enemy of the enemy is our friend, I've learned that from the marines over many years. And right now... you're just our enemy." Damian right here is saying right now we're enemies maybe someday after you've done your time we can be temporary allies.
"The Marines are our family now." Damian saying this gets me thinking that Damian is also a Orphan
While yes Damian also has some quotes that seem Akainu-like he also has some that are very neutral in deposition.
Something to also to remember about Damian is that he's a cold, calculated, serious and logical person. He bases his opinions off of facts and the law. As a person he has a strong sense of morality and tries to do the right thing while still following his duties as a marine.

Bro, I got kinda worried because I didn't really like the whole kane kibleton ark. I'm like "is this not going to be that good?" and I never should have doubted the great rustage because this episode is incredible. The crits have been insane, you kinda know when a crit will happen, the moment they need a crit they get the crit. Olso, if joy and kai don't get together after that crit, im going to be so sad because some conquerers haki went into that shit.
Also, here is my personal two cents on the situation.
Kai: One thing people forget is that Kai the first NPC in either campaign to be adverse to the idea of killing. Most of his very few kills have come from his harpoon, which he has no control over. Violence for the sake of violence when there is a better solution is pointless, and even if there isn’t a better solution, that doesn’t necessarily mean that anyone has to die. Kai understands that because he is the only one who doesn’t expect anything from the Marines. Damian and Yolanda are devoutly loyal and have false ideas of what the Marines truly stand for and Bradley doesn’t know about the way the Celestial Dragons treat fishmen, and just understands that they “kill pirates.” Kai is supposed to be the man on the street, the average guy with an average moral code who can see things in an unbiased way. As it’s for that very reason that he can see not only how Damian’s loyalty is blinding him to more peaceful alternatives, but how the other’s loyalties to Damian through the Marines prevent them from using their own moral compasses or common sense, because they believe that the Marines are good and he stands for the Marines. Yes, Kai likes Joy, but Tekking actively admitted that’s not the main reason Kai protected her. He was tired of seeing people die for nothing, tired of listening to a man who protects human lives but who doesn’t value them. Kai isn’t always the brightest or the most aware, but his moral compass allows him to understand things better than anyone else. Not only that, he’s notoriously a bit cowardly at times, but when push came to shove, he fought through that to protect people that he thought was innocent, and I think that’s commendable. From my perspective, he’s definitely in the right, and even Noble would probably agree since Damian is written to be more of the problem than the solution. That being said, I think that Kai will learn that because he values innocent lives more than anything, that’s why he needs to be a Marine, to actually be someone who can protect them. (Side note, something clearly happened to someone close to him, leaving him with a fear of devil fruits. He claims that he joined the Marjnes to get away from it all. Maybe because he lost someone close to him, he understands that it shouldn’t be allowed to happen to anyone else.)
Damian: Definitely more of an antihero (though I doubt that will last after this fight with Malice, I’ll get to that in a sec.) He lives by the code of the World Government to the letter. Anyone who acts in accordance with these rules, good or bad, is good and anyone who breaks a single rule, good or bad, is not only evil, but due to be eliminated. He claims to be about justice, but he hardly has any real sense for it, he just follows orders without thinking. Regardless of whether those orders are correct or not, he clearly doesn’t care either way as long as the direct laws are followed. Even Bailey, a good marine and his superior, was stunned by his extremism and the brutality that often comes with it. The only exceptions are Marines, since he naturally believes everyone else to be like him unless they display traits that prove otherwise. He let some of Kai’s actions slide because he was a Marine until the moment he admitted that he didn’t want to be one, at which point he immediately went out for blood. Lives don’t seem to matter to him, he’s taken far too many himself for them to truly be worth anything, (we don’t know his full backstory but he’s clearly the Black Knight who ruthlessly killed good knights just because he was told to) he just knows that the code is what matters, that it is all that matters, and that breaking it is punishable by death (his loyalty has not yet been explained, so the motivation is still up in the air, I’m just basing things off of Noble and Damian’s words and actions) If I had to guess, hearing Malice’s story is going to make him realize the impact of his actions and how it hurts the very innocents he claims to protect with his life, making him reevaluate everything and possibly even come out better for it.

Kai has the most actual kills in this campaign while malady is Damian's first actual kill. If the harpoon is out of kais control why isn't the homing missle from Damian the same thing in your opinion. Kai killed a man who fairly bought an item he wanted and took it off his body. Damian has on multiple occasions tried to and succeeded in detaining criminals without killing them. They literally didn't on the beach against the other sisters. And if he was this just kill to get it down solider he would have killed nurse. Even on bollywood island Damian tried to destroy the librarian's canon before attacking her an active demonstration of preserving a life over the quick way to solve the mission. Your evaluation of the situation isn't accurate because you said your looking at nobles actions and words but none of the actions point to that and noble always says if we have to we will do this.
And yes if someone is fighting you to the death like every situation the crew has been in you have to do what you can to survive. If he just followed the marine code he wouldn't have wanted to go after the sisters anyway since his branch leaders said they can't touch them thanks to the law.
Damian only wanted to knock kai out not kill and it was because this time wasn't like his previous insubordinate actions. He actively attacked his fellow marine that's not the same as not engaging the enemy.
Moral code? Kai wanted to kill a guy who won a harpoon that he wanted at the auction, and his "very few kills" has given him the highest kill count of the entire party. Also if Joy was ugly he would not be simping this hard. He's worse than Sanji cause at least Sanji was willing to look the other way for Robin fighting Black Maria.
Irregardless of how many kills Damian has gotten, he was literally open to killing a child without hesitation. Also, it's not like Damian wouldn't want his homing missiles to kill, he absolutely would. Also, yes, he was against letting Malady go at the throne room, but I also remember him distinctly identifying her as a criminal and thus an enemy of the Marines. Damian follows the word of the World Government, but he's also smart enough to know when someone or some group is going against them, and would thus account for that, even overaccounting for that like he did with Kai. He recognized Malady as a criminal and was thus adverse to letting her get her way. Damian may be sociopathic, but he's the antithesis of being corrupt. He does bad things, but he would never let a criminal go under the majority of circumstances. Again, all that matters to him is the Marine's justice, and anyone in organized crime is immediately seen as an affront to that. Still, he follows the law as much as he can which is exactly why he let her go in the end, waiting until the situation with the armor to directly take action. He knew it wasn't within his rights. It was only after he got proof of their involvement that he leaped into action. Side note: (I still stand by my point about Kai, Tekking is just also known for making crazy decisions when he has the impulse to do so (look at William), and in that moment getting the Mako object was all that really seemed to matter to him. Besides, that situation was already bad enough without pulling punches. Besides, Kai had a very pronounced reaction to killing someone in episode 1, being horrified and almost trying to quit immediately before Yokan quickly brought him back in line. I feel like the players in this campaign aren't always entirely consistent, so I'm just going to take the character moment over the combat moment in this regard. The bottom line is, he clearly knew that killing the sisters was entirely wrong, and I'm going to trust Tekking that he didn't do it just to simp.)@@blackpeoplestorytime802

2. Damian only destroyed the canon to protect his crew and he only keeps people alive to question them or give them a fate worse than death in the one piece universe either they get put in impel down or secretly sold/given as slaves to the celestial dragons.

This scene made me love Kai completely, i always liked kai in general being the one to be the moral compass and in his own words from session 1/2 to see the world not as white and black but shades of grey. Its ironic the weakest member is the one with those moral priorities while the others with tons of strengths don't care to look deeper into things. Kai isn't the best person, he's selfish, clumsy, somewhat a perv. And down right a coward how should never hold a gun... however he will be the first to try and calm things down so to see him finally snap and vocalize his want to leave truly makes me happy and shows hes not just characters relief but something much more
Kai has killed more people than damian but now suddenly when the opponents are a group of hot waifus he's turning a new path, kai is a simp and damian is a Chad can't convince me any other way.
