  • Is this the poor mans Strandberg? Dana decides to assemble the guitar and tackle the finish when the weather warms up. There were a few issues with it but Dana would not be denied. Stick around to the end of the video and hear a few tones and Dana's opinion on this affordable Strandberg like kit.

    I just got this kit and built it. Had a major issue. Fixed that and now love the guitar. Perfect for my recording in a limited space.

    Very good video. I built a similar kit a few years ago and due to the bridge I sent it to a guitar tech and he was unable to get it to intonate. Were you able to get the intonation set up on this guitar? Definitely a like and a subscribe.

      I'm still setting up my new house so I have no workbench yet. Gotta debox enough of the garage to have space to put a workbench in there. I hope I don't have this intonation problem. That'd suck, but be a learning experience. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

    Headless guitars. Very interesting. Good info. Thanks for sharing 😊👍💯🎸🎸. Thats right we dont need no stinkin instructions 🤣🤣✌️✌️. Im 61. Built my first guitar about one year ago. Used peavey predator. It turned out nice. Learning experience for sure. Only thing is next time put better pickups in it. Goal is too build more guitars someday 😊😊

      Building more guitars is a good goal to have. I'll have to wait and see how much I like sanding and finishing. Thanks for watching!!

    Great video!! I’m interested in this kit now. I found it on Amazon, it doesn’t say what type of frets it has, and I don’t remember if you mentioned it, but are the frets nickel silver, or stainless steel?

    • @3randommonkeys
      @3randommonkeys  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They appear nickel silver. I wish they were stainless. Thanks for watching!

      I bought the kit- the zero fret nut doesn’t align with the string holder on the high e string not is it cut so that the zero fret controls the height of the string. Also the frets clickity clack up and down the neck with the rocker. Got to love the luck of the draw! Now, to return or not that is the question. Cheers duders!

      Even in production guitars, the luck of the draw rears its ugly head. Maybe your kit was made on a Friday after happy hour? :-) We also had some issues with the Leo Jaymz bass kit. Good luck, and thanks for the comment.@@Mojo_jojo_panda_jo

    Do you need to use the fretboard thing because I don’t think I have one

    • @3randommonkeys
      @3randommonkeys  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you have sharp fret ends, then some kind of file is necessary if you want to knock the sharp edges down. The very first time I handled sharp fret edges on a guitar, I just used emery boards, like what people use to file their fingernails. It worked fine. You just need to make sure to tape off the fretboard so you don't scratch the wood. Thanks for watching!

    Question, did you have to replace or modify the nut it cane with? I noticed that on mine it doesn’t align with G B E strings. Just got this one and its the last thing i need to finish the build.

    • @3randommonkeys
      @3randommonkeys  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      On mine, the nut seems to line up with the bridge just fine. String spacing on the neck is perfectly fine. Sorry to hear you got a bad one. Thanks for watching!

      @@3randommonkeys at 4:30 the G B E string slots do not look aligned with the nut.

    • @3randommonkeys
      @3randommonkeys  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're very observant. We actually messed up the alignment of the high E and have it strung under the bridge wrong, which would make it look off at the nut. The rest appear fine, to me. Thanks for watching!!

      @@3randommonkeys The slots in the black plastic nut just behind the zero fret are physically misaligned with the those in the string retainer, and it's progressively worse at the higher strings. There's no way around this other than to replace the nut or somehow fill it in and refile it. I'm curious how you got around this. Your's looks just like mine (same issue) and I suspect the same for @The1steven2.

      Dang it you opened a can of worms. We've been shooting texts and pictures back and forth. You are a 100% correct. The E string was out because it is in the bridge wrong but at the G they go askew. Blame it on bad eye's and stupidity. We will let you know what we do. There is a video in this I think. Thanks for catching this!!@@MixedMuscleArts
