Like I said earlier... there will ALWAYS be * next to their medals. Luckily most websites and publications mention this fact (see Wikipedia article on Bjoergen)

The facts are simple and confirmed by medical studies for salbutamol (the drug she is taking) - educate yourself and read the study linked from Marit's wikipedia page
Taking it especially by athletes where oxygen and breathing plays a major role (cross-country, swimming, cycling) is definitely giving an unfair advantage. Yes, it prevents an asthma attack, but also increases oxygen intake.
@VmHolmenkollen2011 I am quoting official study linked from Bjorgen's wikipedia entry. It is a REAL Medical study reference from a journal of applied physiology linked directly from her wiki page. It is also very visible on Bjorgen's wiki page. You are only quoting sports political bodies, not doctors...
I feel sorry for her asthma, but it doesn't change the fact that in many people's eyes she has unfair advantage.
@sario1500 well.. I believe a medical study more than a random internet user with their own 'opinion'. Medical study proved that time to exhaustion is increased, so yes if you have the same drug to other competitors without asthma their performance would increase according to the study.
In the age of asthma a silver is a gold indeed...
@VmHolmenkollen2011 dude... if you are unable to go to Bjorgen's Wikipedia page and find the Asthma section and the quote WITH THE LINK to real medical study than I have not much else to day... I am happy however that the fact of her taking performance increasing drugs is mentioned in her Wikipedia entry and most articles about her. Most fair and balanced readers will always know...
Kowalczik was actually banned for doping, she is the real doper. Marit Bjørgen has never doped. Kowalczyk used dexamethasone. All this bitching about Bjørgen is just a smoke screen to take the world's attention away from her own doping.
I wonder if szuszek2 is a doctor since he know so much, I wouln't trust Wikipedia that much btw there have been false info there before (not saying that it is) but one source isnt enough I think... just sayin :p
@bexerker I realize this comment is from months ago, and now everyone can use symbicort without any problems or penalties. However, at the time of the World Championships, only those who had permission via WADA/FIS could use it, hence the problems in this whole mess.

With that said - read the asthma section on Beorgen wikipedia page . Here is a choice quote for you from the medical study:
"Time to exhaustion has been consistently increased after salbutamol by as much as 30%. Only one out of 8 study participants did not show increased time to exhaustion compared to placebo."
