    I just found out CTEK recondition mode is actually only to mix the sulfuric acid and water in the battery, as they can separate over time according to their website. This is not needed for AGM batteries and can even damage them because of the high voltages involved in combination with high amperage. Desulfation is always done in step 1. CTEK is not very clear about this in their manuals.

      @chupo4putin 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@hapskie not true i think. i think the longer you have your battery at low voltage the longer the absorbtion phase has to be hence the desulfation happens at the end. at least thats what i learned.

    Great content. Two things:
    1) Always use PPE, gloves and glasses!
    2) You set your battery tester to EN but the rating number used was CCA. A 950 CCA battery would score about 900EN. So your battery was already about 5% better than the results showed.

    • @dionich

    Dionich, one tip, look at the hobby chargers, once you learn them, you will skyrock in terms of battery knowledge because they can charge several type of batteries, in different voltages and currents, meaning you can throw away all chargers you have. I have the skyrc t200 model which is awesome, its old, if you think of buying one look at the new models and buy a dual or even quad port so you can charge several batteries at once.

    5 years of using agm..... went to the service opened and filled with water. he cautioned me that because battery was opened the vacuum is lost so the capqcity will be questionable but adding water prolongs the battery life. didnt need any regeneration since he poited out that my mppt solar system is perfect for the agm charging. no higher voltage involved and i did loose some 10% capacity which is now at 2/3rds. not bad for 5 years of torture. hope this info helps somebody.

    The high temperature extremes under the hood of a car especially in hot climates will dry out the battery. It even causes the chemical makeup to degrade faster, but rehydration will most certainly give more life as long as it hasnt dried out too much

    Hey man thanks for the video. I need to replace my original 15 year old BMW AGM battery is at 12.33v right now,
    Never had an issue except I had some some rough starts lately and the radio stays on only for a minute then it turns off with the low battery symbol on the dash.
    Since new BMW battery is out of my price point, in your opinion, should I try this process or buy new budget replacement battery around 200$
    How long do would you say the original recovered battery would last?

I may have found out why the Exide AGM died...my car (Old POS Bmw E60 with the stupid IBS cable on the battery) is over-charging with 14.8-15.2 Volts. I´ve heard from another channel that this will boil the electrolyte and it will evaporate. I've added about 50ml to each cell, but the top of the "plates" are still dry. I realize it's different with an AGM and they should not be fully flooded. I don't have a "as new" weight, so I'm wondering if I've added enough. I do note that the battery gets pretty warm when charging.

      @@bradanesi3998 I also recommend charging if possible before topping the electrolyte off with distilled water. then let them sit for 24 hours before checking and adding water. This is because water should only be added enough to where the mats look wet while the battery is fully charged.
      Otherwise just be sure you don't overdo it and only add a small amount at a time. wait a while in between. The mats should look "moistened" not soaking with puddles everywhere.

When i try to click on the Voltage Function or the Charge Function or even the Recondition Function, there is nothing. Any suggestions?

      If your battery is too low, a smart charger will not recognize it as a battery and will not start the charging process. You need to connect a second 12 volt battery in parallel with the battery you are trying to charge so the charger will "recognize" it. After a period of time, once the voltage in the low battery starts to rise, you will be able to disconnect the second battery and the charging will continue on its own...

    • @raymondb325
      @raymondb325 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Connect 2nd good battery to the dead one and put charger on. Charger will register the voltage of good battery and will start charging. After some time you can disconnect the good battery.
