Vor gut einer Woche gastierten Ingebrigt H. Flaten und Paal Nilssen-Love mit "Atomic" in Wien, nun kehrt Skandinaviens meistbeschäftigtes Bass-Schlagzeug-Gespann mit Schwedens explosivstem Saxofonisten wieder - der da natürlich Mats Gustafsson heißt.
The Thing nennt sich die anno 2000 inaugurierte Troika, die sich vor allem dadurch auszeichnet, neben Don-Cherry-Titeln Rockmusik-Hadern von P.J. Harvey, den White Stripes oder The Sonics energiestrotzenden Neudeutungen zwischen Punk und Free Jazz zu unterziehen. Heiß! This is awesome and I have seen a lot in the US and myself played in various group. But this group had so much energy. The special thing about this is this is in Vienna which has been hosting great music for centuries. And this is probably the most fit and muscular jazz musicians LOL. Mats can play that loud unmiced that Haker has to keep tuning up his amp which is a full stack for an electric group. I would have love dto be there.

This is Free group Improvisation at its peak. it doesn't matter whether it is played by Americans rehashing the 1960's or Scandinavians carving there thing. keep it going and that makes it valid for the independent record labels and musicians and fans alike. MUSICA.. MUSICA .. MUSICA..!!!!!
